Get what you pay for .

Not quite what we expected. The pub area now closed to the public. A bit shabby. Our room was clean and newly painted. Separate bathroom clean but no hot water. Looks like in process of renovation . It was cheap and fine for a night . Owner good once you got to know him .

The only thing that was a minor inconvenience was no power outlet bedside, but available in the dormitory, so no big deal.

What an amazing place! The historic pub downstairs was definitely a good time, and both the staff here and the local residents I met were great people! The hostel facilities are topnotch. Clean, comfortable, relaxing, and secure. The landlord has obviously gone out of his way to make this place somewhere you can feel at home while you travel. I had two excellent nights of sleep in a very comfortable bed and much appreciated hot showers in a clean, well-appointed bathroom. The location is tough to beat: within walking distance of the train station and everything you'll want to see in Dover. It's in a safe neighborhood and conveniently across the street from a police station. There are multiple grocery stores practically around the corner. There's an available car park, but I didn't use it as I'm backpacking, but other visitors I spoke with had no problems with it. I highly recommend this place and I'll stay again if I'm in the area.

it was a little bit noisy, but that’s seagulls for you. as far as the property,  it was a beautiful period property, and full of charm.

Just a bit dark in the room, a bit more light is better.

The location is great, just 2 mins walk to town. The bed is comfortable and so warm for a cold day to lie down and chill. Lovely staff, made you feel like at home than at a hostel. The old building is wonderful with antique stuffs.

beds very comfortable, solid wood frame that doesn’t creak, great mattress. best sleep in a long time. great shower, hot, consistent, room to move, what more do you want?

Bathrooms dirty, no running hot water, no cups in the room asked to owner for milk he gave us a drop, was off and out of date. Rooms cluttered with tat, no way of locking the door if anyone knows the code they can enter when your sleeping with your family, no lights on the stairs to get you to your room had to use phone light. It’s a dark dingey place and me and my family didn’t feel safe. It would have been cheeper to book 2 rooms at travel lodge.

when checking in staff member was very unhelpful, told me to get security code for door off of another guest staying in the dorm room. not very clean.

The dorm was dark, dingy and musty. It absolutely stank of stale food and cigarette smoke. There was absolutely no security, both the door to the hostel and dorm were permanently open and their was no registration and no ID check on arrival.

Too hot in the bedroom and bathroom. Radiators on full blast on April 23rd! Loud ticking clock in bedroom not set at the right time either! Smelly pillows. No hand soap in bathrooms.

Place just was kinda dirty and smelly, and it felt like it was just an extension of his living area. The people in the mens dorm with me were okay, one guy was kinda sketchy, seemed like he maybe was abusing substances by the way he talked and looked.

I mean for what youre paying its what youd expect. Owner is very nice.

it was really creepy at night since it was only me staying in the female room. Then, the door was automatic lock and I got locked out outside since I thought I already unlocked it inside before I got out and there is no receptionist and it is so hard to reach the person in charge of the place.

That it was close to the train station and was the cheapest at the time.

Great place and basic but well worth the money,,beds very clean and very warm..owner very nice and the pub down stairs a great place to see....told owner i will be back...no breakfast but shops very nearby.....perfect for a night or so.

for me everything was great

Everything. the bedding was perfect, very comfortable. it’s very aesthetically pleasing and I really liked the thought put into the things travellers may need (eg. ironing board, hair dryer etc)
