Known as the 'Jewel Box', Dresden is a stunning German city with rich history, an important classical music scene, and an unforgettable Baroque and Rococo-inspired city centre.
Located on the banks of the Elbe River, the whole city was destroyed during World War II, but has now been rebuilt into one of the most interesting places in Europe. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the Church of Our Lady (Frauenkirche) is an imposing building that is one of the most beloved symbols of the city.
Magnificent Zwinger Palace is the main Dresden attraction, featuring impressive pavilions and a majestic garden in the middle. Also not to be missed is Brühl Terrace, a promenade nicknamed the 'Balcony of Europe', because of its excellent view of the River Elbe.
Enjoy a relaxing stroll around the city and you will find a selection of cosy Dresden restaurants and beer gardens serving local dishes and fine wines from the surrounding vineyards.

I just love this city centre with its wealth of 18th century...
I just love this city centre with its wealth of 18th century history, churches, parks and galleries. If you like art and architecture, culture and the arts, this is the ideal city. Of course, most of it is reconstructed and the detail is amazing. Many of the buildings are about 25 years old if that but look so authentic. There are many great places to eat and drink, great hotels and you can go on a day river cruise to Meissen or Pilnitz on an authentic 19th century steam boat.

We stayed in Dresden for 5 days.
We stayed in Dresden for 5 days. We were there during the Dresdner Frühjahrsmarkt, so we sampled some of the local food and drinks- everything was delicious.
Our hotel was just outside of the old town and it was really easy to reach all major sights on foot. And we did some shopping too with many shops near our hotel.
We took a cruise to Blasewitz with a steam boat on the Elbe- it was a great experience. We also travelled to Görlitz with a train for a day and it was a charming little town near the "border" with Poland.

Walking through the old town of Dresden was amazing.
Walking through the old town of Dresden was amazing. The city center was destroyed in WWII and lay in ruins throughout soviet occupation. Dresden was rebuilt after reunification. It's like walking through the old city of Dresden, but everything is new and clean and nothing is broken or showing signs of any decay. Amazing. Apparently not many American visitors. Few spoke English. Added to the ambiance. Bring your Google translate app.
Lovely architecture; beautiful natural setting; great museums and music venues. Great food. Excellent public tram system as well as scooters to rent. I will avoid hostels and spend more money to stay in a hotel. I enjoyed the Hygiene and City museums. I'll be back for sure!

Very beautiful city.
Very beautiful city. The historic center is very impressive considering that it was almost entirely rebuilt after 1945. I highly recommend the Old Masters Gallery in Zwinger. This is an unforgettable experience!

Everything!
Everything! Easily my favourite city to visit in Germany so far for its sheer beauty. Amazingly I got last minute tickets to the Semperoper (the opera) to watch “The Magic Flute”.
The architecture, the food, the people are what make Dresden the special place it is.
The Hop on Hop off bus tours are great as they take you to the suburbs in the hills that you would otherwise not get a chance to see. Great views and a good cafe in one suburb to have a coffee.
Am a regular here and it's a no-brainer for me when it comes to choosing a stay at Dresden it's always this hotel. Perfect location, quiet, 15 minutes walk from the center. The rooms are super clean, the bed is comfortable. I get the best sleep here. The staff are lovely and very friendly. They always give a discount for parking. This time I came with a puppy and they were so lovely with him. They even prepared dog plates for water and some dog snacks in the room.
Excellent compact, spotless luxurious apartment with all newly requirements. Perfect location close to city centre and 10-15 mins walk to attractions in Old town. Bus and tram stop around the corner and short walk to Dresden Neustadt Railways station. Queit Area and building felt safe us. Close to shops and restaurants. Staff are quickly responsive to queries. We enjoyed my time staying in this apartment and would recommend it.!!
The hotel is very well located - close to every major landmark in Dresden. It is only 15 min walk from the main train station and the bonus is that you go through the main shopping street of the city. The hotel is located inside the biggest Mall in Dresden, but it is super quiet and you don't even know it. The rooms are basic, but they have everything you need for a couple of nights stay.
Certainly the best place in the old town Dresden, highly recommended !!! Access by car super easy via underground parking. Super comfortable and spacious rooms. Fantastic breakfast, not cheap but still good value for money. Nice people at reception ready to help with everything - really super positive vibe. Rooftop bar is must visit - try the cocktails, bartender is doing magic.
It's a great location if you're traveling with kids. The Großer Garten is a short walk away where you can run around or take the Dresden Park Railway which is run by children. There's a tram stop just outside the hotel and just 3 stops to the old town.
The staff were really friendly and they gave our two year old son a little teddy bear which was a really nice gesture.
ARCotel Dresden was a great, clean, modern and sleek hotel. Tram 4, 6, and 9 have a stop directly in front of the hotel which makes it extremely convenient to arrive to from Dresden-Neustadt trian station or to get quickly to city center. Also, the hotel has a great location relative to the Elbe river and the trail that runs along the river.
I’ve stayed here before so it was my first choice for a return trip. It is very conveniently located being a short walk to the old town and the Zwinger & within easy reach of local transport. A very nice breakfast buffet and a pleasant atmosphere throughout the hotel.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful and really the best.
Nice hotel, clean, organized, friendly staff and excellent service. Walking distance to the main Dresden touristic buildings and good restaurants for a fair price. Plenty of public parking and garage if you prefer for 22 euros a day. I didn’t take the breakfast there but I checked it out and they had plenty of good options.
Hotel is located close to the main attractions and you can walk to the Old Town via a nice park. Rooms are clean and there is a heated floor in the bathroom. Hotel’s personnel is very friendly and helpful. And we really enjoyed the breakfasts. In general the hotel is a good option for a weekend gateway to discover Dresden.
The bathroom was roomy with a good shower, and the bed was surprisingly soft and we slept well. A nice feature was the free parking, where guests could park across the road. The hotel was also very well situated near a tram station, making it an excellent point of departure for going to the city centre in Dresden.
I have stayed in two hotels in Dresden and I recommend Pullman. It's very close to train station and also not far from the old town. There are fridge, coffee machine and tea kettle in room. The breakfast is excellent (sugarfree option is a plus) but it could be difficult to find seats during peak hours.
Well beyond the expectations, the room and the whole hotel were cozy and clean, there was a private parking inside, the area was really nice, close to a lot of restaurants and with the Dresden city centre at walking distance, and also my dog was very welcome. Recommended.
This lovely hotel is located on the less touristy side of Dresden, which is why I like staying there. There are trams that you can take into the center of town or it’s a pleasant 15 - 20 minute walk.
The hotel has a nice garden area as well as a pool.
Amazing hotel! One of the best breakfast I ever saw in a hotel in Europe. Very comfortable rooms and bed, nice staff and 50 meters from the main train station in Dresden. Walking distance to the old town. Luxury shower and a nice view.
The location of the hotel is perfect, just at the historic centre of Dresden. From there you can easily access old town, Elba river or shopping malls in Dresden. The staff was very friendly and eager to help with everything.
The staff at Hotel Kipping is incredible! They provided support for everything we needed. The breakfast was one of the best we've had at a hotel/restaurant in Germany. Would stay here again!
Absolutely beautiful hotel in a great location on the Elbe overlooking the historic Dresden waterfront. Best breakfast we had our entire trip, beautiful spacious rooms and friendly staff.
