Fabulous find, Tindasel Lodge is a bit out of town, we followed google map directions and did quite a few kms on a gravel road, make sure to follow the instructions from the property and there is only a short gravel section. There is a great walk with amazing views of some waterfalls and the volcano just from the carpark. The manager and staff were fantastic, communication from the property was very helpful, dinner menu only small number of choices, continental breakfast was great. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.
This modern hotel is located along the Golden Circle in the south-western town of Hella. It offers free WiFi, a buffet restaurant and bar.

Bistro was welcoming and friendly with a nice causal vibe.
Food was good value (for Iceland!).
Buffet breakfast was good with a few hot things like bacon, scrambled egg and beans, although I prefer a continental breakfast with ham/cheese/boiled egg etc.
I didn’t use the hot tubs/sauna so can’t comment.
Rooms were modern and compact - peaceful environment

The breakfast exceeded our expectations. It was nearly a full English. It is not the smartest of hotels but certainly value for money. Everything is there and the attached restaurant does wholesome food. the rooms are clean and tidy ad the location is convenient for the southern route. Parking is free.
Set 27 km from Hella and 12 km from Laugaland, Landhotel features a garden, bar and free WiFi. Featuring a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with a restaurant.

Very nice staff, delicious dinner and rich breakfast. Sauna and yakuzzi on top of that. Simply great hotel to relax. If you do not speak English, the whole staff speaks Czech :)

The cottage was small but clean. The kitchenet was good for cooking breakfast. The shower was decent. Great value for money. I will definitely recommend. Comfortable parking.

Hella a bit sparse.
Hella a bit sparse. No good restaurants that we found and they stop serving at 9pm. Not much to Hella but it was in the countryside and we saw the Northern Lights. Our hotel was well lit so we could find it but they would not turn off the lights to view the Northern Lights better.

Small central town, great for staying at the igloos, and great for going all round. So nice to go east to Vik for the Katla ice caves, skogafoss and the waterfall hike, and Vik beach and west for kerid crater and blue lagoon and then north for gullfoss and the geysers. The town itself has a small supermarket, nice bakery and okay places to eat. Looks pretty with the mountains to the side.

We were not happy with the accommodation.
We were not happy with the accommodation. The front desk staff were disorganized. We were told a day before check that we would have 2 cabins instead of the 2 rooms we booked in the main hotel. When we arrived we were told we would get 2 cabins. When we checked I across the street, we were told we had one cabin which was a downgrade for us. One adult had to sleep in an upper bunk bed and the cabin was smelly , some windows did not fully close and the main door did not lock. We were quite disappointed in the accommodations. The cabin was not in good shape. We specifically booked 2 rooms to get 2 bathrooms period. Based in all of this, we would like to request a partial refund.

Extremely lousy management, relocated and downgraded to s cabin nearby with no wifi, handwash or toiletries. Reason given- overbook, well not a acceptable reason in 2023! Avoid at any cost, overpriced for bad service

Beautiful, clean, modern home with spectacular views.
Location of home is quiet, on a horse farm, about 30 minutes from the main town of Selfoss. It was a good location to explore the south. We would stay there again!

Terrible relocation experience due to overbooking.
1.
Terrible relocation experience due to overbooking.
1. Unacceptable reason of overbooking in real time booking system especially we have fully paid.
2. The selection of customers for relocation is not transparent, not logical and also not acceptable, especially we have fully paid in serval months (confirmed and paid on 4 Feb 2023 for the booking on 1-3 Aug)
3. We booked 3 rooms (7 persons) for 2 nights (1-3 Aug). Maybe pre-empting us can release more rooms for others, and maximize the revenue as we might paid less (booked in 6 months in advance)
4. Very short notice ie we received the relocation message at 16:18 on 1 Aug that we were on the way to Legendary Hotel Hella. I strongly believe the overbooking happened at least a month ago but I had only 2 hours notification time
5. 2 receptionists are inexperienced to handle such disaster issue. The manager, the decision maker, was hidden and not face to or talk to the customer directly. 2 Receptionists were not able to explain the situation nor to comport their customers.
6. We were relocated to Bru Country Estate, that required us to drive about 1 hour to there.
7. Hotel Hella booked 3 rooms for us (7 persons) in Bru Country Estate for us but there are only double rooms (no triple room) in Bru Country Estate. It created another problem during the careless relocation booking.
8. We booked a local tour to Highland on 2 Aug. The itinerary was changed and shorted due to longer travel time starting from Selfoss instead of Hella
Perfect, quiet location in the Hellatún countryside. The house was spacious, very clean, and had all amenities, including a washing machine for clothes and a personal hot tub! Linda was extremely accommodating and very pleasant to work with. We stayed there two separate nights on our trip, and we’re looking forward to getting back to Hellatun Guesthouse for our second night. Restaurants in the area are sparse, so either come prepared or know that you’ll need to drive a little bit to get to a restaurant. The views were incredible!
Tindasel Lodge seems like a boutique lodge off-road near Hella. Driving towards it feels like going on a farmstead and entering the Lodge itself feels like steping into a deluxe hotel. The rooms were nice and had a pleasant smell. The staff was friendly and helpful. It had an amazing outdoor spa which was amazing to relax in during the evening hours with a beautiful view of the country side.
Hotel Laekur is a cozy and beautiful property. It is an old barn made into a family owned and operated hotel... The rooms are very comfortable, staff is friendly, welcoming and really helpful... Dining/Restaurant service excellent and the food was delicious!
I would completely recommend this hotel if you are traveling through the southern part of Iceland!
Such a cosy and beautiful house. It was all nice and warm when we arrived. The bedding was super fresh. The location was beautiful, looking into a river and the village of Hella is so lovely, lots of twinkling lights. The house was also bigger than expected with very good bathroom and kitchen facilities. Amazing value for money, would definitely return.
I cannot say anything about the Hella Legendary Hotel because one day before my arrival they sent me a message to inform me that, due to overbooking, I was moved to another hotel (The South Coast Hotel) 30 km far from it. The South Coast Hotel was a good hotel, but it was not in the place I had previously chosen for my stay. It is not serious!
Excellent hotel. Our the best hotel in Iceland. It is located in the mountains. Everything is new, smells nice. Rooms are spacious and amazing as the bathrooms. Our first hotel which has coffe machine and Nutellu for breakfast. We adore fresh baked bread. On the scale from 1-10, I give it 15. Extra pozitive experience.
First, we couldn't find the hotel entrance, but the Kanslarinn Restaurant barkeepers kindly showed us where to go. We checked in to the hotel with a friendly man, who explained and showed us everything. The room was nice, and we had a relaxing stay at Kanslarinn with a fine breakfast the morning after.
Simple twin bed and probably what we paid for but thankful to be given private toilet and bathroom. Breakfast simple but good enough. Friendly and helpful staffs at hotel and restaurant too. Had Pizza and soup at the restaurant. Price reasonable. Free car parking outside building.
It's located right next to the Caves of Hella. The people who worked in the caves do not own this house, but they helped us more than once when we got stuck in the snow while in the driveway. We adore them. But there are lots of other, better places nearby. Skip this one.
Hotel room was a little cold but liked the fact the bathroom had radiant heat (on the floor). This made the bathroom feel warm and inviting. The hotel was clean and quiet, if we ever go back to Hella, we'll definitely stay there.
Perfect location, had a lovely observatory on the property for clear nights in which an astrologer was present. The hotel was very nice and had a rustic, cozy and homey feel to it. Appreciated they could accommodate gluten free.
We regret not staying more nights at the hotel. It was an incredible stay. They acknowledged our anniversary and left a lovely surprise. The hotel is super cute and cozy. It was the best breakfast we had in Iceland.
Very nice and helpful staff. Best breakfast we had within 2 weeks on Iceland. Fresh, delicious, homemade / local products. Way better than in other 4 star hotels on the island. Cuty sauna and hot tub in the garden.
Great hotel. The people are really nice, the rooms are great, the view from the hot tub is spectacular and the restaurant was really good. Would recommend this hotel if you are ever near Hella!
This is an amazing spot to enjoy a hot tub outside watching the northern lights. The hotel has a nice restaurant and everything was very clean and comfortable. Overall, we had an great stay.
Breakfast was great - fresh bread, cheese, deli meats, eggs, bacon, cereal, etc. Spacious hotel with classic Icelandic industrial style. Beds were very comfortable. Staff was very friendly.
Clean comfortable rooms with everything you need. Very quiet location right on the river but close to restaurants, etc. Friendly staff, good breakfast.
