The hotel was located conventiently near both the train and the ferry terminal. When attempting to check in before 15:00 the desk clerk was extremely rude, interrupting and admonishing me for arriving early before I could even introduce myself. We ended up having to wait until 50 minutes after official check-in time to have access to our room. We booked the Presidential Suite and were very disappointed with it. It was old and dated, with dirty carpet, dusty surfaces and missing both the bathrobes and slippers that were listed as provided amenities. Also, it is very annoying to have a mini-bar but no prices.
There was no telephone in the room so the only way to contact the staff was by going to the front desk and waiting in line. The property is very dated and in serious need of a renovation. In addition, the staff could use a refresher course in customer courtesy.

My trip to Kristiansand was primarily to visit my son . The city is very nice during the summer and believe that there are more activities, but not much to do during the winter , not unless it’s for shopping 🛍

Nearby water park and zoo (Dreypark) was fantastic, we spent the whole day there. Ferry ride from Lillesand to Kristiansand on the M/B Oya was spectacular, highly recommended to see the coast and small villages nestled among the islands. Book ahead to make sure you get on. We took the ferry one way and then took the city bus back to pick up the cars in Lillesand. Many restaurants to choose from in the downtown area.

Norway is stunning and beautiful.
Norway is stunning and beautiful. Kristiansand is the jumping off point after arriving on the Ferry from Hirtshals, Denmark. The drive along the southern coast is absolutely amazing. I would love to go back.
The cabin is newly built and feels very fresh and welcoming. It is equipped with all the things that you may need during your stay. Everything was very well organized. The location is quite good. Very short distance to Kristiansand. Its definitely good place to stay with children. The host met us on day one and explained/answered our queries. The host is very nice and professional.
Overall, we had very nice and comfortable stay in the cabin and would definitely recommend it to other people with BIG YES :-)
Very good with easy check in/out online process, simple and effective hotel style, but with al you need for one-two night stay, good beds, small bathroom, spacy rooms, wifi, parking nearby, location close to the ferry and in the city center, shared small kitchen - refrigerator, microvawe oven, coffe, tea...
And excellent price/performance ratio compare to all similar places in Norway. And Kristiansand is relatively nice and living city with many pubs and bars and many young people and students.
It was fantastic to stay at Thon hotel kriatiansand! Amazing staff! Great rooms with comfortable beds! Great value for our money. And the location was amazing, so close to a shopping streets with amazing restaurants. I absolutely loved it. I recommend taking a kid at stroll! The hotel also made our room special for Valentine’s Day. With chocolate and fruit! And on Saturday the hotel had a donut day, that was a nice surprise, coffee and donuts!
Warning, this is not a hotel, it is some kind of religious convention center.
Handling of electronic key was bad and unclear.
I would not call it breakfast, but to find the paper bag with a dry white bagel hidden in a fridge in a corner of the hotel was almost impossible. One person of the staff followed me in order to find the fridge but left before we found it..
The room was very clean and modern. Bed was comfortable. Very central location.
The breakfast is quite reach in terms of selection and will get you going for the day.
If you need parking and don't mind walking a bit, you could use Gyldengården P-Hus which is a bit further away but cheaper than Torvet Parkeringhus which hotel would suggest you.
Recently stayed at this hotel which is near the city center, and my experience was fantastic. The location was convenient, making it easy to explore the city. The staff was exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. Overall, a great choice for anyone looking for a centrally located hotel with excellent service.
As allways, a very comfortable stay at Hamresanden. Love the location and suroundings - so beautiful! Been here numerous times over the last decades and allways been my favourite near Kristiansand. Breakfast is fairly simple, but good! The staff is allways very available and helpfull.
During my six week trip through Norway, this hotel had, without a doubt, the finest and most appetizing looking breakfast of all the hotels. The hotel is a short, easy walk from the train and bus stations and is in the center of the town square, next to the cathedral.
The cabin is very well equipped and was very clean. Everything we needed was there. Communication with Kenneth was very friendly and umcomplicated. We liked it and would definately come back. We had a car. So it was no problem to come to Kristiansand and the zoo.
BREAKFAST,WAS OK LOTS TO CHOOSE FROM VERY NICE ,GOOD DINNING AREA.
LOCATION, WAS IN THE TOWN SO HAD TO PARK THE CAR IN THE HOTEL CAR PARK WHICH WAS NEXT DOOR TO THE HOTEL ENTRANCE WHICH WORKED FINE.
ROOM, WAS FINE BUT NO PLUG IN THE BATHROOM SINK,
Hotel staff were really nice and helpful. The accommodation is good with a great view through the window (sea view room). The location is great as well; I would definitely recommend it and would stay here again.
Probably the most extensive breakfast buffet we had in Norway. Very good room albeit a little small but it was a single room. Excellent ensuite bathroom with ample toiletries.
Rooms are nice and clean. Staff is friendly and co-operative. You should only go if you plan to do the zoo. Else the hotel is very far from the city centre.
