Ninh Binh is extremely beautiful. It’s better to take organised small group tours rather than a taxi to see the sights. Group tours include transport, entrance fee, lunch & a guide. The boating in Tam Coc & Trang An are not very different from each other, though I did both & loved them. Cuc Phuong is a gem.

Tam coc is worth staying in for minimum 3 nights. We could have easily spent a week here - to be surrounded by natural beauty. Traffic was minimal at time we went (In May), so cycling around was amazing. However it was hot and humid weather. Lots of reasonably priced eating options at walking distance. Very tourist friendly place. Recommend boating in Tang An - longer duration for same pricing as boating in Tam coc.

A beautiful place, lots to see and would recommend at least 2 days in one area and 2 days or more in another. Lots to see beautiful sites, walks, nature,. Quiet and calm in some places, busy but lovely in others. Do use a bicycle, znd cycle the rice fields, local Taxis or the grab cars. Visit the bird Sanctuary but don't stay there. And do Tam coc boat ride...stunning, as is the walk to the dragon! Take your time if you can. While touristy its also got many non touristy areas...slow down smell the roses and enjoy. A lovely, peaceful area perfect for getting out of the city and into nature. It's been wonderful to see the steps the municipality have taken to clean up the area and protect the natural resources. Huge improvement from a few years ago! The town centre is vibey and best for travellers looking for a bit of a party. But Ninh Binh is surrounded by plenty of peaceful homestays that are perfect for relaxing. The best attractions are Trang An boat tours (don't bother with the Tam Coc boats), Mua Caves and look-out point, and biking around the little roads.SarahSouth Africa - 10Scored 10

The room was spotlessly clean and the comfortable, big beds was a plus. The location was amazing, very quiet and just 2 minutes walk from Tám Coc centre. The staff was very kind and helpful with everything we needed. They gave us information about the places we wanted to visit and also arranged a driver for as to visit Bài Dihn pagoda and Trang An. The room was clean, spacious, very comfortable and the view was soooo perfect! The staff were friendly and helpful especially Jenny. She’s so sweet and making sure all our needs were met promptly. The villa location is perfect, with easy access to major attractions like Mua Cave and Bich Dong Pagoda. The amenities, including the pool and garden, were excellent. I highly recommend Tam Coc Marina Villa for anyone visiting Ninh Binh.

Overall, host did his job very well and was nice to us, but accomosation itself is not as nice as in pics.

The location is off the beaten track. For us, that was an asset, since we wanted to get away from congestion and noise. We much preferred Tràng An to Ninh Binh or Tam Coc. The cost is that unless you have a car or motorbike, you have to take a taxi to everything in this beautiful part of Vietnam.
