The city is very beautiful, walled, full of churches and history. I didn't like the attendants in stores, restaurants, bus stations. I found people to be rude to tourists, grumpy and unwilling to help. I consider it destiny to meet only once.

The Old Town is beautiful, with lots of good restaurants & bars. Highlights for us were the Cable car although make sure it is a clear day or you'll see nothing. The walk up the the fortress, there are 1350 steps so a hard climb, but the views are fabulous. Visit to Perast which is a very pretty village, we did a taxi there (€25) and a speed boat back (€60 for 3 of us). We did a boat trip to the Blue Cave, however disappointingly we couldn't go in as our boat was too big for the weather conditions. We think the captain new this before we paid and departed but took us anyway so make sure you check before you book.

We had been to Kotor before and love it. 4 days is plenty of time to spend here. In the summer it is very busy and very noisy, into the early hours of the morning. Kotor is a very beautiful town and the trip up the mountain by cable car is well worth it. If possible take a boat trip around the bay. Be aware that within the city walls the pavements are very rough and there are a lot of steps to many of the apartments. Hotel Hippocampus has a great roof bar and Dino the waiter is lovely

Kotor is cute little city, beautiful bay, impressive mountains, really really good seafood. Also enjoyed cute little bars in the city. We walked up the fortress which is pretty solid 60minute hike uphill and 30minute downhill, it’s hard cardio but it’s worth it the views are amazing.

Kotor is a well preserved historical city with an impressive fortress wall stretching up the mountainside. There are a few interesting churches. Plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants. Some of the restaurants outside the old city walls are fine dining. Kotor attracts large cruise ships, so the town can become inundated by large groups of tourists.

We loved it, but if you don't like cats don't go!
We loved it, but if you don't like cats don't go! They are everywhere, I've never seen so many in one place in all my life. We found it really heartwarming how well they were treated by both the locals and the tourists. Food stations and little beds for them in the park. Wonderful! Kotor is a stunning old town, full of history and the scenery is breathtaking. We stayed for 4 nights and that was plenty of time to do the all things we wanted. Any longer and we may have been a tiny bit bored, as its such a small place. I would definitely recommend for a short break though.
The views of the Bay of Kotor were stunning and the pool was a great bonus for us, the apartment is fairly high up a steep hill however is about a 15-20 minute walk from the old town so was still a really convenient location. The property also has parking spaces if you choose to rent a car which is extremely handy in Montenegro. The host Marko was very friendly and welcoming, he lives next door to the property but it never felt as though he was in the way at all and I found him to be very helpful.
Nigel and his team have created an absolute oasis -- our stay at Palazzo Sbutega was the highlight of our time in Montenegro! Truly unparalleled hospitality, with every detail thought out and a real effort to make your stay a time of total reset and relaxation. We loved the pool, morning swims in the Adriatic, breakfasts, boat trip through the Bay of Kotor, meeting our lovely fellow guests, Nigel's wealth of stories, and the comfortable and well-appointed room. Can't wait to plan a longer stay!
This was a perfectly situated location in the old town of Kotor, Montenegro. We really enjoyed our room and the common areas that allowed us to cook our own meals and to watch television and meet people. The staff was exceptional in making us feel welcomed. We felt that we had everything we needed to have a nice one-week stay at this particular location. We had no complaints. One of the nice perks was that they had a cappuccino machine that we were able to enjoy each morning.
Really liked the location, 25 min walk to the old town but a really nice walk along the bay where you cross many restaurants. Free bicycles which we used every day for exploring Perast or go to the bus station. Swimming pool was really nice in summer. Room and hygiene were excellent and most important the hostess was so friendly and helpful. Would really recommend this place and would definitely come back here if we visit Montenegro again!
This was an amazing stay for us in Kotor! The location might be the best part, in the Old Town in an old building. You're surrounded by quietness, as the windows are placed towards a small courtyard. The room itself was kept very clean, tidy and serviced by a nice and helpful host. Furthermore, you have all the amenities you need, even a small kitchen! We loved our stay and will come here again when we get back to Montenegro.
- Awesome location, looking out of your window to see the Bay of Kotor in all it's glory
- The pool and 'beach'
- The internet was great, in your room, by the pool and even on the beach
- Breakfast was great
- The female receptionist was very good, organised a private tour guide for us who was awesome (Lovcen NP, Centinje, Lipa Cave and Sveti Stefan, with lots of information and great level of English)
great location - close to old town, beach, restaurants
the apartment had everything you needed
nice view from balcony
comfortable bed
amazing hospitality from owners
great recommendations for local restaurants & things to do
great parking facility - hard to find a park in Montenegro!
amazing shower
washing machine in room
enough cooking utensils for breakfast every day
Perfect location, in the most center of Kotor town, in front of old town. Beautiful view. All needed facilities are near to the apartment.
In apartments you can find just all what you need for comfy living. Strong internet connection. Very accommodative host, who is always ready to help. Just great
We had a car trip around Montenegro. Stayed in 4 cities: Budva, Bar, Kotor, Tivat. These apartments are located in the old town. The apartment has been recently refurbished and all amenities are excellent. Thanks for the bottle of wine.
The old town of Kotor left a favorable impression.
Even though Kotor is packed with tourists the people running the hotel were very nice and personable.
Room was really impressive and beautifully renovated in this old town building
Unique experience staying in a 14th century beautiful medieval town.
Walk up to fortress terrific
This charming hotel has a delightful vintage style, super friendly staff, and an elegant restaurant for breakfast/dining with both a balcony and courtyard terrace - in the heart of Old Town Kotor. It was a real treat to stay here.
Superbly located hotel right in the old town of Kotor with unique touches and wonderful staff. Fedja and the other receptionist went out of their way to assist, and Ranko made fantastic breakfast with a smile and was great company.
This was beautiful, safe apartment located in the heart of the old town. Great value for money, easy check in and will stay here again if we come back. Most comfortable bed on our entire trip through Croatia and Montenegro.
Location is perfect, it is beautiful luxury hotel in the heart of old town. Nice stuff always willing to help. Excellent breakfast and lunch. Room is big, stylish and comfortable. This place is highly highly recommended.
Lovely hotel, yards from the entrance to the old town, next to two supermarkets and minutes from the small Kotor beach. Staff were really friendly and my room was huge/lovely - highly recommended.
Lovely location with beautiful views of the bay of Kotor! Easy accessibility to a variety of restaurants and the old town. Excellent service and a friendly team catering to all requirements.
Nice new apartment with a view to the bay of Kotor. Spacious and clean. Very friendly and helpful host. Good location, at walking distance to Kotor Old Town and the beach. Excellent wifi.
Owners were very friendly. There's parking just in front of the apartment. Supermarkets were nearby. Walking to Kotor old town takes about 10-15min. We had a great stay!
It was walking distance to the old town. A perfect base to explore Montenegro.
The place was cozy and clean.
