We liked the waterfall repelling, spent half a day at the rope swing, major highlight of the trip, didn't spend a lot of time in town, loved the Fortuna waterfall, didn't prefer the free hot springs. Fortuna was lots of fun. We went to hike at Mistico Arenal hanging bridges and visited the Don Olivo chocolate farm. They were both great outings! We also enjoyed local food and the pool at our hotel, Hotel Arenal Country InnWalker - 10Scored 10

Enjoyed the Fortuna waterfall hike BUT beware of the steps…great hike but 500 steps DOWN, then 500 steps BACK UP!😉 beautiful falls and swimming area! Loved our zipline and rappel tour!! (Go Adventures!) And the hot springs across the street afterwards…ALL in the rain!🙃 Loved our hotel Arenal Rabfer! Walkability! Worst: DRIVING, roads, local drivers and scooters! It is basically a small apartment with a fully equipped kitchen, a private bathroom and a personal chilling area in front of the front door. The breakfast was okay (3 options to choose from) and location was great. It was about a 7 minute walk into the main area of La Fortuna. Air conditioning worked well. The hotel is next to the sloth sanctuary, so helps it feel like you’re in the rainforest.

The thermal pools were incredible and our kids had a great time on the water slides. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The food at the restaurant was delicious. We would definitely return! We did tours through the hotel and they were both great. Horseback riding to La Fortuna waterfall and also Ziplining.
