Rooms dirty, security is a 10 cent latch, restaurant is lousy. Very hot - fan was too small and too weak. Pool and bar both good. Rooms cheap, but certainly get no more than you pay for.

Quiet neighborhood, baked onto a field with farm animals. Lovely pool, which was very welcome with the hot temperature outside. Close walk to town or to the beach. There was several grocery stores in the area. "Soda's" were are favorite eating places. There was a great variety offering local dishes and gelanti. The manager was very helpful.

Inner light lodge is an oasis of peace, serenity and harmony located in a central position, very close to the beach and the various restaurants.
We loved the silence, the spaciousness of the rooms equipped with all comforts, the veranda where a rich breakfast prepared by the hosts with cake and fruit was served.
Last but not least, the possibility of a yoga class in the morning which Federica leads with professionalism and care. Highly recommended

The accommodation was clean and the room had everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable and the room was only a short walk from the pool and restaurant. Breakfast was delicious. A plate of fresh fruit with coffee, followed by a choice of cooked breakfasts was sufficient to keep us going. The staff were lovely, always smiling and happy to help with anything. The restaurant served delicious meals using locally caught fish and the brownie is the best we have tasted. The hotel sits between 2 lovely beaches that are easy to access and don't get crowded. There is a lot of wildlife around and the hotel is visited regularly by howler monkeys, motmots and iguanas. The hotel is a nice distance from Samara to avoid the hustle and bustle but near enough to walk into the town for a meal or shopping.

Well... I had booked two nights and ended up staying an extra day at this well-run and relaxed place in Carrillo.
Vincent and his family gave us a warmly welcome and made our stay very pleasant. Their homemade breakfast is exquisite with the panqueques and jams far above anything (You must try it)
The room is nicely decorated and very confortable and has a private terrasse for breakfast, the garden is beautiful, the place is very quiet, and the Carrillo beach is just 350 meters away.
But what this place makes really that special are the hosts themselves, they are so friendly and always took time to talk to us although they had a lot of things to manage, they helped us whenever we needed.
We'll certainly be back!

Samara is a fairly busy small town that has a lovely beach.
Samara is a fairly busy small town that has a lovely beach. There are many other beaches nearby. It has quite a few restaurants and cafes to choose from. Lots of great fish. Prices are "reasonable" by comparison with some fancier locations along the coast, but all prices in US dollars are high for Canadians.
Just two hours from Liberia airport, this town has a laid back feel. Not sure how long that will last.

Samara is a funky little beach town with lots of little eateries and shops, and a number of restaurants right on the beach undercover with enough variety to make it interesting. There were also enough activities and beaches in the area to enjoy.

This is a great little town with a beautiful beach and yummy food options. We wish we could have spent more time here to explore the different restaurants a bit more. We hope to come back soon! We also really enjoyed the neighboring beach of Carrillo, which we drove to - but it didn't have food options the way Samara did.

A wonderful walkable town with many restaurants, excellent couple massages, friendly community, and beautiful beaches. I did the Warner preserve tour with a native Samarian - he was EXCELLENT - a fantastic visit. My husband and I are thinking about coming back and staying much longer. The community seems very low key - just the right pace for us :)

The beach and ocean are beautiful.
The beach and ocean are beautiful. There are lots of restaurants and fun bars to have a drink. The city government has to work harder at keeping the town clean. Sidewalks, store fronts and some restaurants need to be improved, there were so many flies at one of the restaurants where we ate, that we ended up having to leave. There is very limited parking, there should be a place where excursion buses can park further away from town, it feels chaotic.
The owners were so personable as well as all the staff! They arranged an amazing turtle excursion for us where we saw hundreds of turtles hatching. Absolutely amazing! We were greeted on the first day of opening after being closed for Sept/Oct, we were surprised with an upgraded room. Our Casita was spectacular with an outdoor shower! The grounds are one of the prettiest we've seen in Costa Rica, lots of animals visiting us, raccoons and coatis. The pool was refreshing and there was a trail from the property to a secret beach.
This stay was perfect! If you are looking for being in touch with Costa Rica’s wonderful nature then this is the place for you! Celine was the nicest and made sure everything was good for us. The tent is surprisingly comfortable, with very very little insects. However, if you do not like being around animals of if tiny bugs bother you it’s not worth to come and then complain :) just know what to expect and enjoy the wonderful shade under the florest trees, with families of monkeys and coatis walking around
We loved Casa Buenavista, Vincent met us on arrival and made us welcome. It was our first real stop in Costa Rica, and there were a couple of things we needed help with. A WhatsApp to Vincent, and all was resolved swiftly. The place is modern, very pretty with established gardens, beautiful lighting , two pools and everything works. It's also only a short walk to a stunning beach.
It is a family run business, the whole place has a very chilled vibe you´d struggle to find somewhere more welcoming.
Lovely, small Costa Rican family-owned hotel which is perfect for the casual traveller who wants a very friendly and non-American, in-county experience. Only 2 blocks from marvelous Samara beach! Comes with excellent breakfast, a lot of opportunity to speak Spanish and experience local pure vida and food. We celebrated New Year's Eve there with an EXCELLENT seafood dinner, with live music by the staff. Very fun, relaxing and mellow. Would definitely go back.
We really liked this place.
We had the basic quadruple room room with two bunk beds and shared bathroom.
The shared bathroom was the best bathroom we had in Costa Rica.
It had aircon as well.
Plus where was a pool.
Really liked the patio area we had with hammock, bench, chairs and table.
Really liked the shared kitchen and the coffee on tap.
Would stay here again. Very good value for money.
The restaurant is amazing, lovely setting under the huge tree canopy, the staff are delightful, the food was amazing. You have free beach beds and cushions included in your stay. The beach is one of the best beaches we visited so far up the west coast of Costa Rica. Perfect waves for jumping! Great places to eat and have a drink down the beach and the town of Samara is really lovely. Lovely people.
Amazing experience and fantastic service quality with
top quality amenities. The owners have thought of
every detail to make your stay feel like home and fully enjoy your vacation.
On a hot day the showers are just fantastic to cool off plus,
it’s proximity to beach (just 2 min walk) and Samara
makes it ideal location to enjoy and relax during your visit
We loved the location; the hotel grounds were beautiful. It’s very convenient to the town…easy walk. Access to the beach was excellent. Many restaurants, bars and grocery stores are within walking distance. The A/C in the room was excellent. Parking was adequate and the staff were very kind and helpful. Good value!
Everything was amazing - the lush, well-kept grounds complete with iguanas and coatis (and howler monkeys roaming around), the beautiful pool w/ a waterfall, the spacious bungalow with a gorgeous outdoor shower. The staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. We want to come back to Costa Rica just to stay here!
The location was beautiful and so peaceful in nature. My room was great and the hotel pool was nice. The nearby beach was way less crowded than the other beaches I went to, only a handful of people there each day. The food at the restaurant was really good, it felt like getting a home cooked meal!
Very well located hotel in Samara. You get a sense that you are staying in a traditional Costa Rican lodging here not only because of the decor but the friendly hosts. Danielle and Luis are very friendly as are the housekeeping staff. Close to restaurants, shops, Samara beach and bus stop.
We loved the hotel! It’s right on the beach in a great location. The room was clean and we could walk out onto a private terrace. The room was cleaned every morning which was great. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We can’t wait to go back!
Great location, outstanding service, very clean and comfortable. The hotel is close to the beach and many fine restaurants. Bridgette provided us with a map outlining all of Samaras offerings. We really enjoyed the hotel and the suggested restaurants.
Beautiful clean and full of nature! So many birds to watch from our balcony and the pool was always clean and a great addition to our stay. The bathroom was amazing and by far the best one we've had in Costa Rica so far! Pura vida!
The man at reception ( name begins with ‘O’). He was funny and friendly. Free parking. Very pretty hotel and comfortable quiet rooms facing a pool
Very near the beach and lots is restaurants.
Michelle made the stay unforgettable by helping out with all our questions. She provided so much information, both for Samara and other places in Costa Rica!
Very nice hotel and friendly/helpful staff. Close to the beach (2 minutes walk) and central. Would definetly recommend to stay here when you visit Sámara.
