Reception staff were not friendly, also even though we were in a quiet area in the hotel, we were disturbed by other guests partying in the early hours.

Located in the Flemish region of Belgium, the beautiful medieval city of Ghent is not only a city of history, but also a romantic place
to visit. The city is full of hidden historical, cultural and culinary gems that you can easily discover.
The Gravensteen or 'Castle of the Count' is a deceptively enchanting sight dating back to the Middle Ages. Constructed by Philip of Alsace, the count of Flanders, it's partially surrounded by a moat and beautifully restored, and hosts an interesting museum about the history of prison life.
Part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, the Belfry of Ghent is a medieval tower overlooking the Old Town centre. Saint Bavo Cathedral and Saint Nicholas' Church are the city's other two towers, with St. Nicholas' Church being one of the oldest landmarks in Ghent (known as Gent in Flemish).
Enjoy a relaxing walk in the picturesque medieval streets and stop at one of the charming traditional restaurants for Belgium beer and a classic Flemish meat stew with French fries. Local delicacies include the popular Belgium chocolate and the purple jelly-filled candies called the 'noses'.
Antwerp International Airport is 52 km away, while Brussels Airport is 55 km. Just book your hotel, guest house, apartment, or B&B through Booking.com and discover everything this stunning city has to offer.

The Industrial Museum (MIAT) has impressive and some unique objects, as befits the first Manchester of the continent. Vooruit for workers' social solidarity and a bar. Also thought-provoking is the Dr Josef Guislain museum in a still-used asylum (take tram #2).
Note that some tram routes, e.g, #4 to Nord Dokk, no longer operate.

A historic university city.
A historic university city. Preserves its strong Flemish identity.
Has a vibrant city centre and has a 'gothic feel' to it - but, not as strong as Bruges or to Brussels.
Once the main train station has completed its rebuild, it will enhance the city as a more inviting place.
We had dinner in the student sector and found it expensive. It's easy to get around Ghent by public transport. Trams need to be upgraded with easier payment systems and electronic information boards. Compared to Netherlands, Belgium's Tourist Information-points or Centres are not that easily accessible.
I would avoid staying near the main train station during its current building works due to noise and dust. The latter if you're allergic to dust.

Augmented Reality at St Bavo's Caythedral was exceptional.
Augmented Reality at St Bavo's Caythedral was exceptional. Almost everything in the city is walkable from the centre. Cars, trams, bikes and pedestrians share streets which means being careful when you walk. Altogether this was a visit to remember which will bring a smile to my face. Heartily recommended. With over 5000 students at the university the positive atmosphere was almost tangible. And the quality of life looked very good with excellent restaurants at reasonable prices and chic shops with good design on offer.

A beautiful, lively city with many easily accessible sights, concentrated in the centre. Easy communications by train or bus to/from other towns and good public transport within the city. Plenty of shops, restaurants, cafés, and a large pedestrian area. One can easily spend a few hours in one of the many museums on a rainy day.

Ghent seems to be something of a poor relation to the more...
Ghent seems to be something of a poor relation to the more famous Bruges. However, I found Ghent to be a thoroughly enjoyable place to visit and certainly lest touristy than Bruges. It's a very walkable city (to be fair, so is Bruges, but Ghent is more compact) which I really enjoy and value.
The local tourist authorities in Ghent have done a superb job with their excellent Visitors' Guide Book (free and printed in colour in the main European languages as well as English) which has a map showing the location of all the main points of interest, together with a succinct explanation of each. I found noting comparable in either Brussels or Bruges.
On my last morning before leaving for Bruges, I visited the very modern city library which was (for me) an enjoyable surprise, particularly after all the much more traditional historical sites. Try not to miss it and try to find time to step inside for a while!

It can get a bit full of walking tours and people in general - don't go at peak tourist times! Away from the centre there are lovely little bars and places to look at. It's crammed with beautiful art nouveau buildings. It prides itself on its artistic and musical connections - lots of students, and you could hear music practice going on in many places. There are local breweries with many delicious beers.
We had a wonderful stay at Ganda Rooms and Suites and really enjoyed the city of Ghent. We used it as a home base to visit Ypres and Bruges, both of which we'd highly recommend, but Ghent was our favorite city in Belgium.
Annik & Kristof are wonderful hosts, and their home is beautiful. We enjoyed the breakfast with fresh baked bread, meats, muesli, fruit, and eggs made to order.
We would highly recommend a stay here
What a wonderful surprise to walk into this huge apartment. My kids all had their own space and loved how large it was. SO MUCH SPACE! The kitchen was great, the tv room was great and if it was warmer the outside the patio would have been great! I would have loved to stay for longer- nothing better than walking out the door right into the city. We loved this place the most in our Belgium trip!
Everything was to like about this beautiful hotel, with profesisonal and caring staff, perfect location and excellent facilities. This is truly a hotel I would visit again and again. The breakfast was top notch, staff never said no for anything to accommodate us and our kids. Its a great place to explore the whole of belgium and of course the beautiful and charming city of Ghent.
The hotel building and its decoration are outstanding and could easily come out of a decoration magazine, lot of well-thought details with all the necessary toiletries including cotton bud & pads.
The neighborhood is ideal close to the historic centre of Ghent but within a more vibing neighborhood gathering favorite of locals restaurants & bars.
This family owned Astoria hotel made everything right to make our stay very comfortable and pleasant.
Breakfast included is absolutely amazing. Room and restroom is super comfy and clean!
10 mins waking to the Gent St Peters railway station and buses station.
30 mins waking to city center or close to the bus.
This hotel located in the historical center of Ghent has simple and attractive modern decor. It's just a couple of blocks from the oldest canals and buildings in the medieval center of the city. Breakfasts were spectacular, with long buffets of breads, pastries, cheese, meat, cereals, fruit and much more.
The hotel is small and beautiful and right in the medieval part of ghent. The owner was wonderful and very accommodating.
Room did indeed have a view. Very close to central ghent. Breakfast was lavish and very delicious. The best hotel we have stayed in in a long time. Our special thanks to the owner.
I like this hotel- its a outside the tourist centre but it is better than the downtown hotels as it is large, clean and modern. I find the downtown hotels in Ghent to be tired and grimy. Everything works well- heating, wifi, showers and breakfast is plentiful and very good.
Close to the main attractions of Ghent and Albert Hejin supermarket.
Spacious apartment with fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and cozy living room.
There are 2 toilets.
Very close to public parking.
The host allowed us to leave the luggage until 12PM.
The location was perfect, 5 min walk from the centre as you can see from the map. This was a huge convenience, and the only reason not to leave the hotel after the first night. The staff was also great, very polite and open to any question about Ghent!
I stayed two nights in enchanting Ghent and will come back. Maybe to dance Hotel. Hotel location is great, tram stop nearby, center of town, many eateries walking distance. Staff are friendly and rooms are clean . They have elevator/lift.
Boutique and unique, the Boatel is a beautifully well kept floating hotel. Captain Sven is a welcoming host and provided me with a marked up map guide for a scenic circular walk along the canals, bridges and towers of Ghent.
Very clean, very quiet, decor is modern, new, and functional. Private, secure accommodations. Well designed, with a bright bathroom and a great shower. Espresso
machine was easy to use, and Belgium treats were tasty.
Cozy and nice hotel in Ghent! The breakfast service is provided on the top floor of the hotel, and one can have breakfast at the table at the terrace! One could also have a strong wifi connection in each room.
We came to Ghent only for the night, so needed a room with a strategic location (train station). The hotel is basic, but we didn't need more. We were a bit afraid to hear the trains, but it was actually okay.
Excellent client service, and the room was really comfy. Breakfast was really good. The hotel is located 6 min or less by walk to Ghent city center; so you can easily get to all must-see spots.
Very comfortable little hotel close to the train station in Ghent. Clean, comfortable, modern. Friendly and helpful staff. Perfect for a short work trip to Ghent and even for a holiday.
The location of this hotel is PERFECT for all things you may want to do in Ghent. Its an adorable trendy hotel within walking distance to everything. Highly recommend.
