Exceptional breakfast, wine cellar and spa facilities. Would have been great to have more communal quiet spaces, perhaps a library or smoking room to play board games etc.
The Casaldronho Wine Hotel is a luxurious 4 star hotel located in the heart of the Douro Wine Region.

Beautiful location, friendly staff, and they showed us how they made their wine. Offered us a free bottle with our stay with free white and tawny port.
Sweet dogs on the property as well. In a pretty good location in the Douro valley.

Geographically Lamego is in a hollow. As I approached from the south in full sun in December you could see Lamego covered in mist, cold damp mist. It lasted for my 3 day stay and the sun was only visible as I left and approached the Duro River!
The accommodation was dia and the highlight was the cheerful taxi driver to took me out!!
Limited walking as two routes were terminated by loose snarling dogs!

Very pretty city, could have spent more time just hanging out and getting to know the city and way of life. If you are there just to walk to the top of the steps to see the cathedral, then one day is sufficient.

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the amazing view, the park like garden, the heated indoor swimming pool. The breakfast was great so was our room which was very spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the view from our private terrace was amazing.
There was no restaurant on site so that meant having to drive into Lamego for dinner. We had a car so that didn’t bother us.
We would definitely stay again.

Do not miss the Sanctuario Nossa Senhora dos Remedios.
Do not miss the Sanctuario Nossa Senhora dos Remedios. Beautiful church built on top of a hill overlooking Lamego. Multiple terraces adorned with traditional Portuguese blue and white tiles lead up and down the property. One of the most beautiful places I have been to. I am surprised that the church is not talked about more often as a major attraction in the Duoro Valley.

We really enjoyed walking and visiting the towers, castles and churches it was like a travel back in time. Also because of the proximity we could take a boat tour in the Douro river. We drove from Lamego to Peso da Régua then by train to Pinhão to finish with a 2hrs boat tour.
Another unique experience was to drive on the N222. According to Avis who has crowned Portugal's N-222 as 'the road that offers the best driving experience in the world. From Peso da Régua to Pinhão.
With plenty of cafés, restaurants and bars food and drinks are there for you to choose. Is worth to know that after 22:00 most restaurants are closed but there are some like "O Cortelheiro" na rua das Cortes is open until 2:00am and you can have much more than a sandwiche.
We loved everything about our stay here. Amazing view. Affordable. Very peaceful and the 2 people who work there were wonderful. We only stayed here for 2 days out of our 11 day stay but I really wish we would of stayed here longer. Check out was at noon and we stayed until noon because I didn’t want to leave. My daughter stayed at a nearby 5 star hotel and I liked our place much better the herbs and I am glad I made the choice to stay here.
I wouldn’t know. The property canceled our reservation the day before our arrival. I don’t know if it was Booking.com’s issue, or the BnB’s issue. All I know is that it was extremely inconvenient for us. It’s the only time in our extensive history of using Booking.com that there’s been a problem so I tend to think it’s at the property’s end.
My credit card was charged and I received a confirmation. Then we got the cancellation.☹️☹️
Laura was very kind and explained the history of the house. It is nice to be in a historic house where wine used to be made! The historic kitchen is very nice. The hamlet very nice. And just a few steps from one of the oldest chapels of Portugal! The shower worked well. I slept fine.
It is best to take the asphalt road from the north (from Lamego), which is fine. Very scenic as well.
The most satisfactory accommodation in Portugal, and here it makes me want to visit the Douro Valley again. I went to the wrong accommodation with the same name near Pinhão, but thanks to the kind Beatriz, I was able to find Regua safely. Thank you so much to Beatriz for making our stay even more lovely!! Omly a mistake was that we only booked for one night. Worth a multi-day stay.
Luxury small boutique hotel with a personal service. Gorgeous setting, very hard to find a pool with a better view. Wonderful family business who go out of their way to make your stay special.
Well located to visit lots of Quintas and restaurants.
Just over an hours drive from Porto.
All the staff was very friendly. I was travelling by Moto doing the famous Portugal N2 route and they took a special care to look after the moto that was parked outside the hotel. Very well located in the historic city center, enough parking outside and plenty of places to eat.
It's a little family run hotel. Very much in the middle of nowhere in the green. Very nice. Nice private spa. If they are not fully booked you can use it for las long as you like, also at night which was very nice. Nice breakfast.
The view of the Lamego valley from our room was terrific. We loved taking a steam and swimming in the pool to stretch and relax at the end of a long day. The restaurant was very good too for both dinner and breakfast.
The food was so amazing but the ambiance of the whole hotel from entry through the room with the spa rob to the balcony with the stunning views. It was all around just an amazing experience
Beautiful location and views. Close to Lamego which is a great place to be based. Hosts so helpful with info on walking, taxis etc. Responded to our messages quickly & helpfully.
Beautiful hotel that looked fairly recently renovated. Rooms were very comfortable. The food at the restaurant was great and the massage at the spa was absolutely delightful.
Definetely one of the best hotels in Porto. The swimming pool exceptional with 24 hour access. Staff fantastic especially at reception. Highly recommend your hotel to others
beautiful hotel, new clean modern- excellent views of the river and valley from the hotel and each room. good quality linens and toiletries. good breakfast
