Hotel Vischio Kyoto by GRANVIA, hotel in Kyoto

Attractively set in Kyoto, Hotel Vischio Kyoto by GRANVIA features air-conditioned rooms, a fitness centre, free WiFi and a shared lounge.

Very close to Kyoto Station, Konbini’s very close for snacks and coffee. Larger rooms than many other accommodation in Japan. Plenty of lifts so not waiting long to go up and down from the room. Stayed in 4 different accommodation places in Japan and this was our favourite. Staff spoke English which I don’t expect but it helps!

Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo, hotel in Kyoto

Hotel Gracery Kyoto Sanjo is located a 7-minute walk from Sanjo Train Station and a 13-minute drive from JR Kyoto Station.

In terms of location & cleanliness it is a good hotel to stay. I’m on vacation with my husband, our room was in the north building on the 9th floor. It was cool, but I’m going to highlight some experiences during our stay. A female staff from housekeeping knocked on our door speaking in Japanese, we didn't really understood what she meant and I thought she might ask to clean the room then I showed her the “makeup room” sign and I put it on the door and she seemed to refuse and she kept talking in Japanese, OK I'm done with this bad behavior she was really rude then i called the front office just out of curiosity and asked them about housekeeping knocking on our door but the staff from the front office couldn't really answer. The next day I realized my new white tank top was missing. I went to reception to informed them, unfortunately the male staff at reception doesn't speak english. For this matter I used Google Translate he said he would email me but until the day I checked out they still couldn't find it and I received an email regarding this after we checked out saying “There's nothing I can do to help”. That means my white tank-top just disappeared 👻 No farewell bid upon check out such a poor service 😢 for this beautiful hotel (4 stars) and you have many western guests from all over the world, please improve your english communication skills especially the staff at the reception.

ibis Styles Kyoto Shijo, hotel in Kyoto

Opened in November 2021, ibis Styles Kyoto Shijo is centrally located in Kyoto, just a 4-minute walk from Karasuma Subway Station. Complimentary WiFi is available in guest rooms.

The room is clean with sufficient facilities. The staffs are friendly and very accomodating. I checked out in the morning and they provided facility for guests to store the luggage after check out. I came in the evening to take my luggage and asked if there is private room or corner I can use for prayer. They arranged a closed corner in the lobby area for me to perform prayer. I am so grateful that they are willing to accomodate my request when I am practically no longer their guest (as I have checked out in the morning). Good location, too!

Beautiful city that allows you to explore and learn about Japan's history and culture. The pace of life is slower than Tokyo and the people are more open for a conversation. It seems that Kyoto is facing challenges in accommodating the significant influx number of tourists, as it was very difficult for us to find available restaurant for dinner. Most are either reserved out or have long waiting line every single night.

    Kyoto is so crowded !

Kyoto is so crowded ! Unfortunately it lost the charm I’m assuming it used to have because you are swimming through CROWDS of bodies (like at Disney World) I would go back to Japan in a heartbeat but probably not to Kyoto. There are so many other stunning places in Japan that haven’t been ruined by tourism yet. Japan is an incredible country…..probably one of my favorites in the whole world. It’s just Kyoto that is too crazy

The AOI hotel we stayed in was AWSOME!

The AOI hotel we stayed in was AWSOME! Strongly recommend it. Beds were extremely comfortable, 12 ft ceiling allowed for cooled atmosphere, the room was spacious and had absolutely everything that a traveller would need, including a magnifying makeup mirror. Also a delicate music was provided via an iPad. Everyday the cleaning service was provided which made the room immaculate over and over. The bathroom facility was spectacular, with rainforest shower head and a shampoo, body wash, conditioner, toothbrush/toothpaste, hairbrush etc provided. The artwork was of an excellent taste and matched the ambiance of the room. First class service.

It was my first city on the Japan 2-week trip, followed by Nara, Osaka, and Tokyo. I felt it has a great balance of historical sites, food options, pleasant riverside, and modern areas around the Kyoto station. It was a bit overcrowded even in May, I can imagine the crowds during cherry season. I skipped some main touristy points like the bamboo forest and the Golden Sth temple as by the reviews they seemed a bit overhyped. I would suggest 2-3 nights for optimal stay, or more if going on day trips to Uji and Nara.

The lights by the Kyoto station make the city live and lots of people in the surrounding. Most eateries are pretty small compared to Tokyo, and need to wait for a long time which is not great for tourists as time is extremely valuable as tourists.

Great location a few minutes from Kyoto Station. Super clean, the room is small but that's everywhere in Japan, they provide amenities like towels, body sponge and the best is a perfectly pijama you can wear on your stay that makes you feel the most comfortable. Staff is very kind, they let you keep the bags in the hotel after checkout but no receipt of it eitherway we didn't have any issue and our bags were perfectly fine when we came back. There is free ice, water and one laundry machine for an small additional charge

The location is great - right in the Gion and surrounded by little restaurants, winding narrow lanes of traditional houses, and close to many good temples. Some of the best restaurants are nearby - must book months ahead, however. Hotel was very cool and contemporary, and a great value. Room was very small, so if you have tons of luggage, maybe not for you. The public bath was a beautiful, and well-designed smaller version, with very modern surfaces and lighting. Well worth visiting.

This place honestly felt like luxury and was one of the best priced hostels we stayed at in Japan. New, modern facilities with plenty of space and very comfy beds. The rooms are small but fit us just fine and for the price they were a steal. There’s luggage storage downstairs if you don’t want your bag in your room, and free comfy loungewear you can wear around the hotel between showers & the bathroom. The staff was very professional and kind Loved it & would recommend!

Very good surprise with the séquence Hotel. It is a moderne boutique-hotel, with quite spacious rooms, very clean and new onsen and sauna (not too crowded) and great location close to the station and in walking distance from multiple temples. 15-30 min wal from Gion area. The personnel was very helpful and the restaurant (we only had diner once) serving wagyu burgers good quality. Actually it was the best 4star value for money hotel for our trip in Japan.

The hotel is directly linked via underpass to Karasuma and Kyoto Kawaramachi station though it can be quite a walk. There is free sake for guests every night. The location is perfect. Hotel Kuu is so close to everything. 10 minutes walk to Kyoto Station. 2 minutes walk to the nearest bus stop. Lots of restaurants nearby. The best part is the public bath. It was so relaxing to soak yourself in the hot water after a long day's walk. The outside pool is built of volcanic rocks from Mountain Fuji. That water is magic. Loved the customer service! Location was perfect for us: at walking distance from train station (15min), from city center (20min), from old town (30min). There is also underground stops at just 5 and 10min walk from the hotel. Although the best thing was the breakfast! It wasn't extensive but this made it easy and quick to grab and was actually very complete, with great quality food
