My third stay at Nshongi and this time for a whole week.
Fabulous staff especially Barnabas the manager and Moses.
Barnabas was fantastic and so so helpful, organising everything that I mentioned even before I asked eg took me twice to a different lodge for WiFi as Nshongi’s wasn’t working, arranged boda for me to the habituation start point and to Kabale, went to the village to change money to smaller denomination notes for me, immediately found the birder Remegious when I said that I’d like to do birding, regularly brought tea flasks to the platform when I spent time there and was really accommodating with my meals.
Moses as ever was just lovely and very attentive —he insisted on cleaning my boots and washing my hiking kit twice (and would have done more!)—they’ve never been so clean!! And turning down the bed each evening and leaving small gifts for me and sorting hot water daily for showers and just always checking that I was OK.
The location is superb—close to the park gate but extremely private, with its own swamp and associated bird and animal life and a fabulous platform to enjoy it from. The highlight for me was Barnabas and Moses waking me one night to see the elephant that was walking through our swamp. So exciting. There was also a regular sitatunga grazing, hadada ibis wading through the streams and one day SIX blue turaco also enjoying the streams plus endless bird species in the garden and a visit from a juvenile harrier hawk and L’Hoest’s monkeys, blue monkeys and black and white colobus…..
The rooms are fabulous—very large and airy with huge bathrooms and a lovely balcony to enjoy the tranquility from as well as the platform.
Eric the chef made some excellent tasty vegetarian meals for me , thank you.
I would 100% recommend Nshongi Camp and definitely stay for as many days as you can.

I recently stayed at the Rushaga Gorilla Tracking Lodge in Uganda, just a short walk from Bwindi National Park. The luxury cottage was spacious with a panoramic valley view, ideal for relaxation. The service was exceptional, thanks to the personal touch from the manager, Elizabeth, and her team. The food was a tasty mix of local and Western dishes, including vegetarian options. The lodge’s peaceful atmosphere perfectly complemented the wild surroundings, offering comfort amidst nature. It’s great value for money compared to other nearby lodges. I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Bwindi, whether solo, with a group, or with family.

A wonderful place with an excellent price-performance ratio. Cylia and her colleague provided some of the best and friendliest service I have ever had and dinner was also great. From the terrace you will have a beautiful view in the morning, the drive to the gorilla trekking site takes about 10 minutes. The basic room I stayed in was clean, had 24h electricity, Wi-Fi (even if you don't need it - there is very good mobile internet in the area) and everything else you may need (including intact mosquito nets). I felt very comfortable here.
Bwindi my home is a recently renovated homestay in Kachulagenyi, where guests can make the most of its garden and bar. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking.

Great place to relax after the gorilla tracking and enjoy the view from the terrace! Richard is the perfect host: he helped us organize the gorilla tracking close to the lodge, he took us on a culture walk to meet the local tribe and he made fire every night to sit by :) Highly recommended!

The interim manager was great - she was super friendly and helpful. The head manager was out of town but we met him the morning we checked out - he was also super friendly, caring. Food was fine. Fine location. They were extremely helpful and caring with our motorcycle parking and arranged to have it stored in the locked courtyard of a neighboring business (there is no secure parking on the premises, and they didn't feel comfortable with our bike parked on their terrace, even if locked to a post). Food was tasty.

We visited first the Ruhija sector where we stayed in the Ruhija gorilla lodge which we did not enjoy. The gorillatreck however was an experience we will never forget. After one day we drove to Rushaga where we spend another night and we were lucky we could arrange last minute permits for the gorillatreck in this part of Bwindi. A whole different experience. We are very glade we did this. Here we stayed in the Rushaga gorilla camp which is very lovely. The restaurant is less cosy, food just Ok and the shop far to expensive but the vieuws, location and chalets make it worth staying here.
