Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe were almost not allowed to get into the house because the host didn't let us know bank details for the deposit and the code to get the keys in time. I had checked every day and the morning before we left but because of this I had been unable to transfer the deposit. We had a long journey. But I'm sure if the host can do this the day before arrival in future then there will be no problem.
Welcome food was left for us which we appreciated. Location was very good. The house was clean and comfortable with a good feel to it. Equipment was ample and thoughtful. There were plenty of leaflets covering attractions in Anglesey and other places in north Wales.

Great spacious cottages. Clean well equipped for catering , peace and quiet in a countryside location. Kids loved seeing the cows , chickens and pheasants in the surrounding fields and lanes. The views across to the mountains were epic especially the moonrises.

United KingdomThere was nothing to not like about Fodol Cottages. If we were to visit North Wales again we would definitely look to rebook here.
The location of the cottages was lovely with breath taking views and great for using as a base to see more of North Wales. Rosa is an exceptional host and was very welcoming and helpful. The cottage is beautifully decorated to a high standard and well maintained.

United KingdomInternet connection was poor and limited.
We were 15 in total and we had a blast over the Christmas and New year's holidays. The accommodations have all you need, we even had Christmas trees in both cottages. A lovely hamper was greeting us, with a lovely prosecco bottle and Christmas cakes. Family rooms were a blessing for our children that wanted to sleep together. Heating and other facilities worked properly and instructions for the property are clear and simple. Supermarkets are 5-10 min away ( Asda, Tesco, Morrison and Waitrose. The view is amazing, you have the sea and mountains 20-30 min away. It was such a lovely and cosy holiday and all our kids had so much fun.

United KingdomHost were racist in nature and biased with a mentality that guests are not of higher living standard. No facilities provided for fireplace and to light up and 1 travel cot was broken out of two. Bin liners were missing in both the houses or would say not adequate to dispose garbage for 15 people for 3 nights. Unknown people breaks in t the property and accessed the bedrooms when guests are not in. They ask for deposit which they refer as breakage deposit. bit suddenly they charge that for cleaning. This is a total forfeit of money and treachery.
Property was clean and comfy. Location was good

United KingdomAll was well when we checked in and our stay was ok until Rosa (the owner) text at 10:30pm saying we are making too much noise in the cottage. I politely apologised and said we'd try and keep it down. We thought this is lady must be an incredibly light sleeper since we're in a detached cottage 10 feet away from her house so let's not upset her. We are a large party with kids so naturally there would be noise in the evening when we are in but by their standard it is unacceptable to make noise in the cottage after 10pm! The remainder of our stay was uninterrupted however all the problems began after checkout. We had booked both cottages & on the day of checkout we had to vacate them by 10pm otherwise we would be charged for another day. We woke the kids up early to make sure we're packed & out on time. This isn't a working week we're supposed to be on holiday. I've never come across any place which has such an early checkout anyway, I called Rosa at 10:03 saying we are ready to checkout would you like to inspect the property so that I can put right anything your not happy with, her response even though she lives next door: "Just leave the keys in the lock box, I'll check it when the cleaners arrive." 3 days after checking out I get a snotty letter making personal insults towards us saying things like "You have a low standard of living." and then having the audacity to accuse is of taking a Samsung charger from the cottage (cost £5 from ebay). If we can pay nearly £2000 for a 5 day stay we're hardly going to run off with a charger of all things. As if that wasn't enough we then get accused of breaking a curtain pole and apparently leaving food scattered all over the floor. I personally hoovered Spring cottage so I know for a fact there was no food on the floor when we left. When I asked for evidence of the broken curtain pole she ignored it.
It is set I a beautiful rural location.

United KingdomWe didn't appreciate that all the bathroom doors are missing locks, so we couldn't really shower in private with kids walking in on us. We were greeted with a few flies fluttering around which we needed to swat first. There was no WiFi included in this property which made it very difficult to plan for things to see around the area and note that the mobile network is non existent too. The check in and out times were a little bit of a struggle as it would have been nice to have the extra check in day longer to explore and the check out times were hard to abide by with kids (although the owner stretched a little). Some of the light bulbs were not working which was disappointing and the floor boards were very squeaky from upstairs to downstairs, disturbing at night times when people are sleeping. We found the TV to be of a little small size since 9 of us were trying to watch on a small screen, it didn't work well. The kettle was also a little out of shape, rushed inside and full of limescale, so we ended up using a pot to boil water.
We loved the location of the property, the ease of collecting the keys and locking up. The spaciousness of the property was amazing, lovely to have so many rooms. Nice sized kitchen with facilities like dishwasher, washing machine etc. The living space with the log fire was amazing, we didn't use it however. Really tall ceilings provided great space and the property was in good reach of shops etc.
