Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyAs this is an old townhouse with steep staircases it may be a bit of a challenge to take the suitcases up, but that didn't really bother us. If you cannot walk the stairs that well, you might want to stay on a lower level. The bathroom is quite small but everything we needed was there, so this wasn't a problem.
Great place in a perfect location, close to shops, restaurants and tube/bus stations, quiet in rooms at the back side, lovely small garden to relax, pretty and tasteful furniture in the common rooms, small well equipped kitchen with large fridge, microwave, kettle, free supply of tea/coffee/milk inside the bedroom, friendly and helpful staff at the reception, "celebrations" sweets for free at the entrance. Two lights were broken in our room - after we told reception the bulbs were exchanged the very same day. We were fortunate to get an upgrade from our twin room to a room with a 140 cm bed plus an extra bed, which gave us a bit more space. The area is busy at night and shopping is possible until 11-12pm on Queensway, which seems to be a safe area, even late at night. We have stayed in London a couple of times but this was the best so far.

CanadaI didn’t know until I checked in that my room was on the top floor (4th) with no lift or luggage assistance and 5+ sets of stairs that were very steep and precarious. In future, it would be good to warn guests in advance as they could have mobility issues (my fitness isn’t great so found it challenging). One of the front desk staff was a bit curt (older woman with shoulder length grey/blonde hair. She seemed horrified at me asking for assistance with my luggage until she realized I wasn’t checking out until the next day when someone else could assist me. Another time she gave me the wrong room key so had to go all the way back down to get the right key and then all the way back up the steep stairs to my room. She didn’t seem apologetic at all for the error. The rest of the staff were great but my interactions with her were not positive unfortunately. Breakfast was a bit sparse but for the price it was reasonable.
Great location. Charming decor. Refurbished room. Night front desk staff (man) was so lovely and friendly.

TurkeyI can’t say I didn’t like it can’t effect my general opinion but there was blockage problem with sink to sometimes water wasn’t flowing away. When I told it they solved it. It’s kind of normal for old buildings

AustraliaAs a 195cm tall person travelling with a partner, the bed wasn't a large double just a normal double so it was a bit cramped for the 2 of us, however, the mattress was quite soft and comfortable. Would be great if some instructions were left in the Apartment on how to use the stovetop and oven (luckily we found the manuals with a quick Google search)
The Apartment is a short 10-minute walk from Vancouver Apartments' main reception. The apartment is in a great location in Notting Hill located directly above a cafe. It is fully equipped with all the utensils needed for an extended stay such as a microwave, oven, stovetop, coffee maker and washer/dryer. There is easy access from the Apartment to the Notting Hill Gate station (London Underground) to all London attractions Had some minor issues in the early days of our stay but the Manager was quick to respond and iron these out for us Overall a great place to stay

AustraliaI remember the shared lounge being much more comfortable when I last stayed. I think they'd modernised it which is a shame. It had less character than I remember.
It's a self contained studio so we prepared our own breakfast and dinner. A fitted out small kitchen was very handy when you don't want to be out and about all the time. We were able to fully relax in the room, nice view over the courtyard.

CanadaThe doors were very difficult to open and close, for the rooms, the entry, and the gym. There was also a long staircase to get to my room and no elevator, so I had to carry my suitcase. The blinds on the windows were also not that great, with one segment broken. I also didn't like how we had to return the room key every time we went out: it would have been a lot easier to hold onto it during the full stay. I also really didn't appreciate the stuffed deer heads in the corridors: they looked real.
It was a nice hotel, right in an ideal spot for sightseeing. The rooms were well made up and clean. The decor and atmosphere were quaint and very British, which was nice!

CanadaThere was a lot of construction and construction noises and it started early. The construction was both down the street and onsite.
The room was well equipped and had a beautiful view. It was close to a church and the bells were pleasant although some travellers might not like the noise. It was close to bus and tube lines and had a variety of restaurants and food stores close by

United KingdomOkay for me but if you have a large suitcase be aware that the stairs are steep especially if you are on the third floor.
Very quiet overnight which is great for London. Single room bijou but okay for a couple of nights. Handy to have a kitchenette for breakfast in. Bayswater tube Circle line close by for transit to Kings Cross St Pancras.

TurkeyThe room was clean but they overlooked stuff in the drawers like candy wraps.. Also the crumpled bed linen looked used even though it wasnt ; wasn't ironed. A knife from the set of four was missing. Mostly unimportant housekeeping problems.
Cosy rooms with charm. Staff treat you well. Very good coffee at the breakfast bar. The room has everything you need do make yourself breakfast etc. Great water pressure in the shower. Lovely garden and lounge.
