Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers – the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples – such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng – sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a good few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

The stay in Malacca was great for travelers who love to walk and get a feel of the heritage city. Even the architecture is amazing. The river walk provides plenty of opportunities for travelers to go drink at the bars in the night, walk on Jonker street, and finally try out the river cruise. In the noon, you can take a look at the beach, The Stadthuys, and A'Famosa. Food options are definitely not limited to Asam Pedas and steamboat but also Cafe's and Bars too. Given the strategic location of my hotel, getting around Malacca was easy. Be wary that I used a private vehicle (a car) so I am unable to comment on the ease of other transportation methods such as Grab/Uber. The public transportation is unavailable unfortunately. I did not see any buses/bus stops around. Please avoid riding the rickshaws when offered due to it's overprice and loud music for a short ride around town. You could enjoy the walk rather than pay for a short and worthless ride

Melaka is accessible from south or from the north.
Melaka is accessible from south or from the north. Lively town and a lot of baked fish stalls or outlets or seafood outlet for that matter. People come to Melaka for its baked fish and nasi lemak. Or fish asam pedas ( sour n spicy ) is the special menu. Other than that of course the Tom Yam menu Thai recipe.
Breakfast in Melaka is very enjoyable _ there are roti canai with asam pedas gravy, nasi lemak, malay cakes etc.

Ever since local authorities closed the main road towards Mahkota. And also some access street road near Jonker walk during weekends. This has made some inconveniences to motorists. Lot of road diversions and spiking of car park charges. All these to me otherwise most of us inconveniently travelling around the said area. Hopefully some improvement can be done in future to come. Thank you for reading this.

Local Souvenir stalls were not fairly treated, and the shops was not given fair chances to be visited and appreciated by all tourist local and foreign alike. If only the distribution cakes fairly opened up, perhaps buyers and customers from abroad as well as locals can be exposed to better offers and competitive chances from souvenirs sellers in the overall atmosphere.

The city is clean and offer a number of interesting tourist attractions and variety of food outlets. Jonker walk, Melaka river cruise and Malaysia Heritage studio and Kg Morten are few places worth putting on visitor’s list. However, I think the Malaysia heritage studio seems somewhat lacking the truly Malaysian heritage as visitors are greeted by the wax statues of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Mr Bean wearing local costumes. We enjoyed visiting some of the traditional houses, but there are some that were disappointing (eg Rumah pahang, terengganu, johor). The performance was fun and enjoyable.
There are a number of museums and historical buildings that
look interesting too nearby Jonker walk.
Eco Tree Hotel is in a central location in Malacca town. If you self-drive its great because you can access all points of interest. The room (718) was comfy for a twin sharing room. All amenities provided. Small issue - light bulbs in the room located above ceiling were blown. Not an inconvenience but attention to these details will certainly make the guests stay more pleasant. The in-room bathroom facility was good, clean and powerful shower. I will certainly make this a stay should I visit Malacca again.
the room was very clean and the sheets were super crisp and freshly pressed :) clearly it was freshly prepared just for the new customer and not recycled like some other hotels:) the vibe of the hotel is very pleasant, jovially bright and visually stimulating with aesthetic paintings places on the wall and minimalist furnitures:) I really appreciate the Malacca traditional aspects it tried to emulate from those intricate flowery tiles it chose on the corridors leading to our rooms:)
The room was exactly as advertised, something of a novelty on booking.com these days. Room was clean very comfortable beds crisp clean bedding and towels, great shower and good aircon. Hotel is close to old town 10 mins along river boardwalk with monitor lizards and otters enjoying the sun.many restaurants close by and a 7/11 next door. Nice breakfast included in the price.
I stayed here 2nd time within 1month. I love the facilities especially I get to charge my electric car. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. I forgot my phone charger and they lend it to me to use until o check out. I will definitely come back again. The room facing Malacca Town is so much quieter as no booming sound from the club near the hotel (facing the sea view).
The design and the interior decorations of the hotel and room are cozy and warm, projecting an ambience of friendliness and comfort. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended to stay in this hotel which is a short distance from the key places of interest of Malacca.
i love the mirror in the bathroom, easy for me to do my makeup.
location is quite ok since it is in the middle of town, not far to reach the targeted destination. but i little bit confuse regarding the hotel parking whether it is fully occupied or not. but all i give 5/5 stars.
This hotel was surprisingly comfortable, pleasant & very clean. The best part is the location of this hotel, situated in the middle of Melaka town. Only 2 mins to Bandar Hilir, A Famosa, Dataran Pahlawan, Pak Putra & Asam Pedas Claypot, Surely will come again one day.
Location is gd. Near to city center. My children luv the bathtub. Loc at shop house, pharmacy walking distant, atm at petronas station ( 5mins walk). I will repeat stay on my next visit. Even i frequently visit malacca at other hotels, i prefer coastal park.
The location is great, really close to downtown. only need 10 mins to walk to Jonker street. There are lots of restaurants near the hotel, you can find place to eat even after 11pm. the view is quite nice, we can see the sea from our window. love it.
The location, very strategic as there’s coffee shop nearby and on weekends, there’s a kopitiam with delicious varieties of spreads for breakfast.
Walking distance to Jonker Street, and key attractions with Malacca town.
- Room space is big
- Parking in front of hotel
- Walking distance to A Famosa Port, Mahkota Prade and Dataran Pahlawan
- Friendly staff, as they help tourist by answering some enquiries regarding Malacca.
The hotel is very clean and recommended for those who wish to walking distance to Jonker walk and enjoy the malacca river with cruise. Only takes 10 minutes walking. Quiet environment as well.
location strategic in town center and easy to access everywhere..many shops along the hotel location..I do like most the bathroom..It’s so clean and huge! same like the room that i’m stayed..
The hotel is very near to the mall.It is convenient
For breakfast it has many choices to choose very nice. This is my 4th time stay at hatten hotel when I go Malacca..
enough equipment in the room. comfortable.. big room.. it's the best of all the hotels I've ever stayed in. This hotel will be my choice for trip in malacca...
Within walking distance to the Malacca old town area. Received an email prior to arrival detailing how to get entry to the hotel's car park which was helpful.
