Merano is a wonderful city with lots of opportunities for fine walks - easy up to challenging. The environment is Mediterranean beautiful with lots of nice flowers everywhere and breath-taking views to the mountains around Merano.
Especially beautiful is a trip to the gardens of Castle Trautmannsdorf - which we visited already the second time.
Even on Sundays it was easy to buy food in open supermarkets for breakfast. In the evening it easy to find beautiful and stylish restaurants with excellent kitchen.
We also enjoyed our ride to Village Tyrol and the trip up to Hochmuth.

Merano was great, however it was marred by our accommodation which was underneath another apartment undergoing constant noisy renovations, and we had to check out two days early with no refund from our unhospitable host.

The tourist season in the city is mainly between April and November, so some restaurants/bars are open for limited time, but this is specific to the city as a whole. But still there are a huge number of stores that are open and having sales.
The city is very charming and beautifully situated. Typical for rest and light physical activity.

Merano is an amazing place with an incredible Spa, especially if you take advantage of the sauna area. Countless good restaurants available everywhere you look. The botanical garden at Trauttmansdorff is well worth a visit; allow enough time to enjoy it properly. Meran2000 is a must do for outdoorsy people. It's a bit upscale. Lots of fancy shops and stores. You can go swimming in the river upstream aways there's a swimming hole that can be seen from the Torre delle Polveri. Go to the Forst Biergarten restaurant. It was so good I ate there three times.

The apartment is newly renovated, beautiful, so comfortable, and much larger than we expected. The best part was Friedrich who was incredibly accommodating with his hospitality. The fine couple who owns the apartment are locals and we were treated like their visiting guests. Merano is a gem of a town. I hope to stay in touch with them and return someday. Grazie dank Freidrich!
Fantastic location! Clean, spacious 2Br apartment within walking distance to nearly everything in Merano (Christmas Markets, Terme Merano, riverwalk, etc). Large double bed and two twins would accommodate a family of four easily. Free, reserved underground parking a huge bonus for those arriving by car. Communication with hosts was seamless via WhatsApp. I’m going back…

The location was great, we loved having a relaxing pool with bar service, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the walk to the center of town was lovely along the river. The family who runs the hotel works hard to ensure everyone is happy.
We loved the quiet location of the hotel. It was clean and the room was very spacious and comfortable with great views of the mountains.
