We got a free room upgrade. The kitchen was very much equipped with all sorts of things you would need to cook (even olive oil, pepper, and salt). Another good thing that we did not expect was that it had a small bottle of washing machine detergent (!).

The location was a quick walk to the main downtown area of Madalena, easy walk to lots of fine restaurants. There was also a pastry place right next door to grab coffee and breakfast. The Madalena ferry terminal is about a 5 to 10 minute walk away. Parking on the street in front of the house was no issue. Highly recommended! Note that about 7 or 8 steps were needed to access the house, in case stairs are a challenge.

The person we dealt with (father of the owner) let us take a shower and stick around in another apartment (which we were lucky wasn't rented out) after checkout at no extra cost. In general, he was super nice and attentive and the communication with him was great even though he spoke only the most rudimentary English.

You can admire the sunset immersed in the vineyards and fall asleep to the sound of the Azores' birds, with the ocean on one side and mount Pico on the other. The kitchen is small but has everything you need. The porch is a great addition. Even if each building is composed of 2 apartments, you do not feel that there is no privacy (or at least we were lucky in having a quiet couple as neighbors).

The flat is quite big for 3 people with 2 bedrooms, a large living room and a large bathroom with shower. There is a fridge and washing machine, coffee machine with coffee pods and some detergent for the washing machine, a large sofa that becomes bed, parking space is behind the house which is handy. Location is ok, 15 mis walk max to the centre and the harbour. Joao was kind to pick us up at the harbour as we arrived with the ferry and was responsive when we had questions.
