In one word: brilliant! I had a very pleasant stay at this little guesthouse in Gokayama. The host is super friendly and accommodating and I really felt welcome. All facilities are there, everything is clean and the place looks just beautiful. The bus stop is less then a minute walk away and it is a 30 minute walk to Ainokura. I highly recommend staying here, you won’t regret it!

The house itself is a Japanese work of art. It is kept as is except for the modernized bathroom and toilet. Bowl is fully automated. You get the flashback of living your childhood if you grew up in a rural place. Absolutely recommended to those who want to experience Japanese village life in a day or two.

The wonderful host family shared with us aspects of their unique culture. The bedding was also comfortable and snug, and the food was simple and tasty. One of the best minshuku experiences in Japan.

My view was brilliant from my room. Near a bus stop, be careful of the hill leading up though. The onsen was great. The room was big, in which the bed was comfortable, still the Japanese hard bed though. Staff allowed me to leave all of my luggage before I checked in which was great! Staff were really friendly all around the hotel. Dinner was a traditional Japanese dinner, and had a lot of dishes, the same was with breakfast. A razor, hair band, toothbrush ect were available. You are also given a choice of a small, medium or large yukata. I really enjoyed it here. I highly recommend it.

The inn-keeper, Satoe, is the absolute kindest, sweetest host you could ask for. She made us incredibly welcome and comfortable (despite rolling in with two kids and a baby!) and even brought sparklers and small fireworks for the girls to play with one night. The area surrounding is beautiful, including a little restaurant we could walk to and beautiful villages and a lovely onsen within a short drive. The location is great for visiting this region, and even farther afield destinations, like Kanazawa on the north coast, felt quite accessible from here by car.

The best thing about this place is the people. Wonderful family is running this small cozy Inn along the road to Shirakawa-go from Toyama. We could not find affordable Inn in Shirakawa-go, so we chose this one just 40 minutes away. Very nice rooms decorated with good taste and comfortable. Toilet and sink are available in the room and the traditional bath separately for men and women is located downstairs. It was interesting to try it. Very helpful and friendly family members were willing to communicate and give us advice. And great meals were served with care and in a traditional way. We enjoyed our one night stay there a lot. We love the food! There was so much and the quality was good. Also, the bus stop was just outside the property, making it easy to take public transport there. We were able to visit Shirakawa-go and Suganuma World Heritage sites.
