I fly to Kyoto from HK with my family this Autumn. Since we needed a big and comfortable room for my parents we found a 600fts suite from Minn Gion at a lovely price. The location is excellent it is 3mins walk from the Sanjo subway exit. The Tozai line could bring you to Nijojo-mae and connect to the Biwako line if you wish to visit the lake. The hotel is close to the Kiyomizu temple too easy to get there by Uber. I did read the comments before we stayed some travelers complained there were no staff on duty at the front desk all the time, but that was not my case when I got there! Every time I walked in and out there was a staff, their English is fair but they were extremely helpful they assisted us in booking two dinners in Kyoto. The room is clean and tidy, they even have a washing machine in the Executive room. There is a disabled-friendly washroom on the ground floor fyi. I highly recommend the Spa & Sauna room if you stay with your family. It cost 8000 yen but that 1.5 hours of privacy is definately worth it!

The hotel was in a quiet residential section of Kyoto, yet access to Nijo Castle, the Imperial Palace and downtown Kyoto was very easy and within a 15 minute walk. Access to the train stations and Uber/Taxi's were equally easy. Amazing local restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel - highly recommend Daigan around the corner for an amazing sushi with an engaging/entertaining/welcoming chef.
