Location is great, right in Getsemani but quiet at night. The little pool on the rooftop was great after sunset to play a bit with our 3yo son, otherwise there is no shade. Breakfast was delicious. Beds are very comfortable.

Colourful and historic, modern and colonial, local and touristic, Cartagena de Indias represents one of the liveliest Colombian beach resorts. Its character mixes cultures and peoples, including natives, Spanish, African and Arab. Its rich legacy granted its Old Town the recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
When the Spanish founded the city in 1533, the region had already been inhabited for thousands of years. It became an important port for the Spanish gold and a significant political centre. Echoes of those times can be seen throughout the historic centre, in the city walls, the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, and the colourful streets and colonial squares. Some of the best hotels in Cartagena de Indias can be found here.
Proudly Caribbean, Cartagena’s soul gives the rhythm to the streets, and the music coming out of cafés and restaurants is nothing but a physical manifestation of its collective spirit. Cartegena has so much culture and history. The food was fantastic! There is live music in every restaurant and bar. Traditional dancing can be found in the squares and you just need to tip. Just be aware of all the street hustlers, especially the rappers who will follow you. The old town comes alive after 8pm. Be prepared for the 90-100% humidity during the mid-day. It is best to site see early in the morning or evening and siesta or pool lounge during the mid day.

The "Old City" is beautiful and historic - and has excellent gelato! Unfortunately, no Dr Pepper...
The beaches are good, and provide a diversion (or a primary reason to go, if you are young) and a completely different atmosphere.

Lots to do if you work with local tourist agents.
Lots to do if you work with local tourist agents. Leave the area and go to Baru for glowing plankton or boats to Rosario archipelago. Old town. Watch out for street vendors selling trinkets and being too pushy.

A lot of great food options, best seafood in Colombia.
A lot of great food options, best seafood in Colombia.
Our favorites:
- La Cevicheria
- La Mulata
- Cafe del Mar ( bit pricey for what it is, but worth it for the sunset drinks )
- El baron ( great tapas in the middle of the square )
Town with a rich history and lots of important landmarks and sights to visit. Great colonial architecture, colorful streets and lively people.
It is very touristic, with a lot of locals non stop trying to sell/push tours/restaurants and goods on the street, felt a bit like India sometimes. There are great street performances of dance groups and artists happening, which i enjoyed a lot though!

Great place to visit as long as you don't mind being harrassed non stop by street vendors trying to sell you hats, cigars, sunscreen, tchotchkes and other things, having menus constantly thrown in your face or being honked at by multiple cab drivers if you stop on a sidewalk for even a second wanting to know if you need a ride. Everything worth seeing in Cartagena can be seen in one day, two tops if you want to see some places out side the city

The hotel was absolutely fabulous! The location was great, right in the city center but still inside like an oasis, a private and quiet place. Exactly like I expected it to be! The architecture was unique, the rooms beautiful and the breakfast great! The amenities of the hotel were exquisite, the pool also very nice. Walking distance from the clubs and bars in case you would like to party; would recommend La Jugada or Alquimico. The place to be in case you would like to stay in the old city of Cartagena but still enjoy quiet nights.
Mostly the location at walking distance from the airport. I believe is the closest hotel to Cartagena's airport. I also loved how near the hotel is to the Histórica Downtown, within walking distance from good beaches, supermarkets, ATMs and excellent neoghborhood restaurants. The hotel's staff was also courteous, helpful and responsive, especially Gina, the manager. I really loved this place...and the fact that I'm writing this kind of review explains my satisfaction
The hotel has a unique atmosphere. An old colonial building was transformed into a boutique hotel, and some of the items, like the furniture or the bathtub kept the old design. The staff is very attentive, our room was spacious and comfortable. The pool at the top of the hotel is really useful in the humid heat of Cartagena. It was never crowded while we stayed there. The hotel is in the middle of the old town.
Absolutely everything! staying here made my trip very special. The staff went above and beyond to take care of me and the service was second to none. Excellent food and breakfast included. The hotel it’s self is stunning, located in the old city so the perfect location. The room was like a big hug and all the facilities were great. It was lovely and quiet and beyond comfortable.
I can’t fault it.
Staff was really great (and all called "Rosa", notably Rosa Roja, Rosa Azul, Rosa Negra). The hotel also helped us out with coordinating the Covid-tests we required for our return trip home. The hotel is located in one of the cutest streets of the old city, and everything was at walking distance from the hotel. Great place to stay when visiting Cartagena!
Location is very close to main Plaza/Church and eateries. The staff was mindful of my needs. The area (Getsemani) is considered a landmark in Cartagena de Indias and everything worth visiting is a 20 minutes walk. Las Tablitas is more for a backpacker clientele in my opinion. There are lockers for your stuff if you bring your own lock.
THE HOTEL IS A CLASSIC IN CARTAGENA. HIS OLD FASHION MODE IS REALLY COOL FOR A PLACE THAT IS FULL OF HISTORY AND TRADITION LIKE THIS HOTEL. THE ROOMS SHOULD BE SOMELIKE REFURBISHED SPECIALLY THE AIR CONDITIONER A LITTLE BIT NOISY . THE STAFF IS VERY ATTENTIVE AND THE OPEN AREAS AROUND THE SWIMINGPOOL ARE VERY ENJOYABLE AND BEATIFULL .
Our first time to Cartagena, Colombia and we decided to go with Casa San Agustin, and it was the best decision ever. This hotel passed out expectation, especially the cleanliness, the housekeepers would clean twice a day, the place smelled super fresh. The food was excellent, the view, the pool, the location, the staff service. :)
Location is right in the middle of the action. Lots of restaurants and music and a short walk to the walled old city.
Carlos at the front desk was very helpful and always quick with a laugh.
The hotel is pretty, though because it's an inner courtyard, it gets hot.
The cleaning staff worked really hard and were really lovely.
The staff was wonderful! Denis, was exceptional along with the rest of the staff.
Location was really good. Manga is a really nice and safe neighborhood on a quieter side of the city.
I liked going out for a walk at night close to the seashore.
I actually came back multiple times to this hotel during my stay at Cartagena
We loved the hotel. It's a gem in the old city of Cartagena. Epoca, the restaurant, is excellent. The room is spacious, and the decoration and ambience are exceptional. It is a boutique hotel in a historical Cartagena house. You get to experience the walled city and feel like you are living there.
Nice and quiet hotel outside of the busy streets of Getsemani and the old city, just a 10 minute walk to Getsemani. Had a few problems with the paying, but sorted it with Richard's help. All in all good stay also because of the kitchen we could use. And Richard was a great host
I recently had the pleasure of staying at a hidden gem nestled within the historic Old City of Cartagena, Colombia, and I can't praise it enough. This hotel effortlessly combines a great location with impeccable charm, cleanliness, and a genuinely friendly atmosphere.
The hotel is very central to the old town. Once we travelled by taxi from the airport we didn’t need another taxi until we left. Everything of interest is in walking distance.
The small pool on the roof was nice with great views of the old city square.
We had stayed inside the city walls for 3 nights and chose to stay in this hotel for 2 nights sun & R&R before moving on from Colombia. The hotel is nice and has a really good restaurant. We had breakfast once and lunch twice - each meal was delicious.
Pros: Clean, good AC, good location, wifi worked good, good price. All around a good hotel for the price. Had lots of plans for Cartagena and really only needed a good clean hotel to sleep and Ibis was it. very good value for the price.
Staff was superb, excellent breakfast, and just a beautiful hotel - the terraces and the pool were fabulous and a great way to relax on our last day in Cartagena. It's a short walk into the old city but along a pretty busy road.
I've been traveling all of my life and living in Colombia several months each year since 2004. First time staying in the "old city" and it was a great experience. Try this hotel you'll like it.
