Todo en general estaba todo muy bien y muy bien situado
Surrounded by the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, the Spanish town of Peñíscola is a fortified seaport in the Castellón province. This attractive destination is a well-liked tourist resort thanks to its unique position on a rock and the gorgeous beaches.
Home to an iconic lighthouse and an impressive old town, the historic medieval city of Peñíscola will amaze you with its unique beauty and variety of outdoor activities. Apart from historical sites, it features wonderful beaches like Basseta Beach, the pebbled Argilaga Cove and the sandy Norte Beach.
Situated on the highest point of the city, the Castle used to be the residence of Pope Benedict XIII. The filming location of the epic movie ‘El Cid’, Peñíscola is about 145 km from the city of Valencia. The fort has three different entrances, built during different periods from the 15th-century until 1754.
Travellers can walk along the promenade area, wander around the green botanic park with the palm trees or visit a restaurant to savour local fish stew and shellfish. Booking.com will help you choose from a variety of hotels, apartments, guest houses and campsites in Peñíscola and the nearby cities of Alcossebre, Benicarló and Vinarós.
We really enjoyed our two day stay. We walked around each of the areas and visited the castle and church. We thought the castle was an excellent experience - it is huge and very well maintained and excellent value for money. We were half board in our hotel but there are better places to eat out. We had a tasty lunch right by the sea. All staff were friendly smiley and helpful. We loved it.

We totally fell in love with Peñiscola, it has such a lovely feel to it, very friendly, great beaches. We ate in a pizzeria on the sea front, great views. It’s easy to walk to the castle area, where you’ll also find lots of little local shops for your souvenirs, a treasure trove of discovery

The old town is great for spending a few days in - Book one...
The old town is great for spending a few days in - Book one of the top two rooms at Dios Esta Bien B&B as then you have a great place in the old town from which to explore with great food & hosts, as well as being able to get away from the crowds by retreating to your own private terrace which then gives you access to the roof terrace. The hostel does not have a lift, but on the plus side, it avoids walking up and down the hill if you are not staying in the old town. The rest of Peñíscola is a big and well laid out resort - We were fortunate to be there just before Easter when it was quieter, but it does get very busy during the holiday season, so pick your time if only spending a few days here. The food and drinks at the B&B are very good and we can highly recommend the restaurant La Taverneta de Sant Roc just down the same street - their T-bone steak was amazing and they were charming hosts. Personally, the whole resort is a bit too big for us when considering a holiday, but everyone should visit and spend a few days in the old town - it’s got a real buzz and vibe about it, and best time to go would be before and after main summer holiday season unless you like crowds

I most liked visiting the castle and the old town...
I most liked visiting the castle and the old town surrounding the castle. This is well worth a visit. The town has great beaches, but there are many shops and restaurants closed during the wintertime.

Absolute waste of money.
Absolute waste of money. Run down accommodation, no parking g in town, very touristy, and full of people with selfie sticks. The castle although huge has nothing specifically interesting except the views.

definitely a place worth a visit, the old town and castle...
definitely a place worth a visit, the old town and castle are a must (probably not good if you have mobility issues). We visited in December and the town was decorated for Christmas, really nice (and busy). we stayed for 3 nights but used Peniscola as a base to visit Morella. We think 2 days is more than enough if you don't want the beach, however if it is the beach you want then Pensicola is perfect.
There are a multitude of restaurants to choose from and seafood is a speciality.
Loved it.
This cute boutique hotel was perfectly situated in the Old Town of Peniscola, right on the castle walls with an amazing view of the sea. The owners were just lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Jose made sure we had everything we needed and it really felt like our complete stay was bespoke.
The decor of the hotel is beautiful with so much attention to detail and everything was so clean.
If you travel by car, park in the market square (but not on a Monday when the market is on) and the hotel is just a short walk up the hill.
This was one of my favorite places we stayed on our trip to Spain. I never write reviews, but I just had to on this wonderful place. Not only was the staff friendly, the hotel was clean and the views were incredible. Parking is always an adventure in Spain, but once you find a place to park, the rest was amazing!!!
Buy the complete package ... you won't be disappointed with the breakfast! Simply amazing, incredible, fantastic ... not sure what other adjectives to use!!! A delightful place to stay :-)
Duna is a small boutique hotel, located in front of Peñiscola seaside. You just need to cross the street in order to reach the beach.
At the small reception, Anna and Tatiana are kind and helpful.
The standard room is basic (there is more storage-space than it could appear at first sight as the bed has some drawers) but has a nice design. The mini-fridge is very appreciated.
The bathroom is good too.
The hotel is in a good location. It is made up of several rooms on one floor of an old apartment building behind the restaurant/reception building that faces the beach. The Peñiscola castle is just a 20 minute walk. The AC and TV worked fine. The breakfast was very good with fresh juice, coffee, yogurt, sweat bread, toasted bread, and a plate of jamon and queso. The staff was friendly.
We stayed for one night, so I can’t fully appreciate it. What I liked: a large room, a huge bed, the hotel was once even chic; quick check-in and checkout. Underground paid parking, we have a large car and the staff themselves offered a large convenient place. Professional staff
This was a very nice small hotel. There was a large, comfortable bed, and we liked the sea creature theme on the bathroom door. The front of the hotel faced a big plaza at the foot of the old town. You could see the harbor across the plaza, from our balcony.
the room had a fantastic view of the old city center of Peniscola and of the sea, the location is reachable by bus without problem, and the sea is in front of the hotel. The quality of food is fantastic with typical Spanish dishes. It was a great experience.
Almost in the centre, but not noisy place. We had a balcony with a nice view to Peniscola - really stunning in the evening. Breakfast is nice - not the widest choice, but was perfectly enough, as well as fresh and tasty, including fruits.
very friendly and helpful staff. good facilities and rooms. Aircon could have been better from a noise point of view. we passed a couple of very enjoyable nights in Peniscola and if we return will certainly consider this hotel
Very comfortable rooms, small & personal run B&B with charming hosts. Breakfast's were very good. Setting is very nice, just slightly outside Peniscola & very quiet. We can highly recommend this charming B&B.
The location was great, around 200m from beach and between Peniscola and Benicarlo. A large apartment with a large balcony with a good view. Parking was easy and secure in the street outside the building.
This is not a traditional chain-style hotel, it's a quaint Spanish gem located right as you enter the old city gates. The hosts are exceptionally nice and the rooms are spotlessly clean.
Location was perfect, 100 meters from the beach and everything was right there, restaurants, pubs, clubs etc etc.
Very good hotel, one of the best I tried and for the price.
