The Kilbirnie Hotel, hotel in Newquay

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, The Kilbirnie Hotel features an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a sauna, a fully equipped fitness suite, and a secluded sun terrace.

We originally booked for one night in a sea view room, the Saturday, but we then decided to book an additional night for the Friday. I emailed the hotel and booked a standard double for the Friday as it was considerably cheaper. When we arrived, the manager Rado (I assume he was the manager anyway) comped us with an upgrade to our Seaview room as it wasn't being used that night. All staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Julie was especially friendly and helpful. Parking was £5 per night but the hotel was happy for us to keep our car on the carpark until we left on the Sunday. We parked in the rear carpark which was secured at night. Our room was clean and suited our needs, and the view was great. We used the pool and sauna on the Saturday afternoon, and we had it to ourselves for a good hour. We were slso welcome to use the facilities after checkout on the Sunday. The town is a five minute walk away along the cliff road and there's a Tesco Express virtually next to the hotel. We will definitely stop again, next time we're in Newquay :)

Atlantic Hotel Newquay, hotel in Newquay

With breathtaking coastal views, the 4-star Atlantic Hotel Newquay offers spacious rooms, a seafood bar and a swimming pool.

The best and I mean the best thing about the Atlantic was the views... They are breathtaking. The room and the balcony were dirty and needed redecorating about 5 years ago... In the room they state the balcony's are cleaned daily... This is not the case the room isn't even cleaned daily!

FAQs about hotels in Newquay

Surfer Days and Steamy Nights

Newquay has that laidback feel that goes hand in hand with being England’s undisputed surfing capital. The centre of the action is Fistral Beach whose swells and Cribbar Reef produce some of the largest breakers in the British Isles. The long, sandy beach is backed by tall dunes which give way to Newquay Golf Club.

Great Western Beach lies below sheer cliffs one street from the train station, while Towan Beach by the picturesque harbour is the closest to the town centre. Tolcarne Beach is sheltered in its own bay, as is the wide stretch of sand at Porth Beach whose northern coastline is 2 rocky headlands joined by a narrow footbridge over the sea.

Each beach is overlooked by luxury hotels with spas, cheap hostels and self-catering apartments on Booking.com. All are surrounded by Newquay’s restaurants, bars and clubs which offer the best nightlife this side of Bristol.

More leisurely pursuits include Trerice manor house in the countryside near the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Buccaneer Bay and the Blue Reef Aquarium are popular with families, as are Waterworld and Newquay Zoo within Trenance Gardens.

Another favoured spot for a walk are the salt marshes by the River Gannel which is a prominent sight as you descend into Newquay Cornwall Airport.

If you go for service or a swim on a hot day, probably you will enjoy yourself. If you are on a city trip, you won't be pleased with Newquay and run away to atmospheric St. Ives. We didn't feel like it was a happy place, more of a Benidorm for flat beach entertainment. It is hard to find a nice place for a tea and scones. It is a bit derelict and has the feel of a lack of care. But that is common at many seaside resorts in the UK. A pretty view from the Aldi parking and further the only kind of highlight is the harbour. But you've seen that in a few minutes.

Newquay has plenty of activity and night life for all ages and pockets. Plenty of places to stay and lovely clean beaches. We stayed a the Victoria hotel, had dinner at the Butchers Bistro Bar both venues very good. We had tea at the Headland Hotel which was superb. We walked along fistral beach and around the local area which is beautiful. Thank you for a lovely stay yet again we will be back❤️

    We enjoyed Newquay.

We enjoyed Newquay. It was much improved since our last visit in the summer several years ago when it was very hard to avoid drunken teenagers. We were less impressed with the amount of dog mess on all the pavements.

We are an older couple in our sixties, so Newquay maybe does not hold the same appeal to us, as to a younger couple with kids, but, it was certainly a great base for exploring Cornwall. We have to say that we did feel a little intimidated by some of the 'locals' around the train station. but that might just be an age thing. The beaches and shoreline was very clean and well kept, and loved watching the surfers.

We were given a room upgrade by the super-friendly owner. We had already read about how spotless the hotel is, but its no exageration. We had a lovely and vey spacious room, overlooking a church, with views over the sea and the town. There are so many good things to say about the place; there was free fruit and (very reasonably-priced - only 50p) water bottles available on the way out. There is an amazing games room and a bar if it rains. Location is a very short walk down to the town centre. I can't recommend this hotel enough.

The positive reviews and pictures of this accommodation are very appealing - they show a clean and wonderfully redecorated guest house, run by someone minded to please their guests. You'd reserve it without hesitation - and we did. The location is central - the train station and several beaches including the Great Western, Lusty Glaze, Newquay and Porth are nearby. The Aquarium and zoo are not too far away. Around the corner are a few pubs, convenience stores and restaurants. But that's the main plus point done.

The hotel its self, inside and out looked better then reviews stated. An old fashioned feel to it, yes a bit warn down but I felt it added to the theme. Staff were friendly and helpful to their abilities. We only had breakfast once which was good, fair few options even for dietary needs, eg some vegan options for myself, although i had to request different milk and sausages. Great location in the centre of Newquay and easy to find. Although we didn't use them there was a pool and a gym.

Truly amazing place in perfect location. The owners have everything under the control which makes the facilities top notch! Friendly, well organised, clean. Superb breakfast! The location couldn't be more perfect-amazing walks on your doorstep, two beaches (Porth Beach and Whipsiderry-a true gem!) in 2mins walk. 20 mins pleasant walk to the east to Watergate Bay. 20 mins pleasant walk to the west to busy Newquay town centre. We would come back to this hotel-definitely yes!

Everything about Longbeach was amazing. the location was perfect so close to the beach and town centre. The rooms were just what we needed and the price was so good. on top of that the drinks prices were ridiculously cheap and by far the cheapest in Newquay. Andrew was a phenomenal host and provided us with lots of info on the area and walking routes to take. He was always there to help out and chat to. Couldn’t recommend this place any more!

I reached the hotel earlier from the time that I could do the "check-in" and they were so kind and told me that they can prepare the room and I can go earlier. The room was comfortable and clean. The breakfast (you pay extra 10) had a buffet and many options. The location was near to an extraordinary view and not far from the city centre.
