Historic Melaka (or Malacca) is the capital of the Malaysian state of the same name, home to one of the country’s first sultanates. The replica of the sultan’s palace is one of the city’s top attractions.
The end of the sultanate came with the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in the 16th century. Reminders of this period include part of A Famosa fort, and there is also a fort built by the next settlers – the Dutch. Several Dutch churches also remain, including Christ Church with its pinkish façade.
Nowadays, Melaka is a melting pot of various cultures, and Chinese temples – such as wonderful Cheng Hoon Teng – sit happily alongside Hindu temples and mosques. The most spectacularly located of the latter is Masjid Selat (or Malacca Straits Mosque), on stilts above waters lapping an offshore island.
Many Melaka hotels on Booking.com are near the promenade lining the narrow city beach, and others are near more secluded beaches in the suburbs. The Melaka River splits the city into 2, and the further inland you travel along it, the more traditional the buildings become.
Just before the river’s first bend is Jonker Street, the heart of Chinatown and popular for its night markets, while a good few miles to the north is Melaka Airport in the Batu Berendam district.

Ever since local authorities closed the main road towards Mahkota. And also some access street road near Jonker walk during weekends. This has made some inconveniences to motorists. Lot of road diversions and spiking of car park charges. All these to me otherwise most of us inconveniently travelling around the said area. Hopefully some improvement can be done in future to come. Thank you for reading this.

Local Souvenir stalls were not fairly treated, and the shops was not given fair chances to be visited and appreciated by all tourist local and foreign alike. If only the distribution cakes fairly opened up, perhaps buyers and customers from abroad as well as locals can be exposed to better offers and competitive chances from souvenirs sellers in the overall atmosphere.

The city is clean and offer a number of interesting tourist attractions and variety of food outlets. Jonker walk, Melaka river cruise and Malaysia Heritage studio and Kg Morten are few places worth putting on visitor’s list. However, I think the Malaysia heritage studio seems somewhat lacking the truly Malaysian heritage as visitors are greeted by the wax statues of Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Mr Bean wearing local costumes. We enjoyed visiting some of the traditional houses, but there are some that were disappointing (eg Rumah pahang, terengganu, johor). The performance was fun and enjoyable.
There are a number of museums and historical buildings that
look interesting too nearby Jonker walk.

Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Melaka was magical 🪄🪄🪄
Besides being a heritage city it was alive and bustling with excitement at every corner - like walking the streets of Paris.
I loved the river ride at night. Makes one feel like you on the Venice waters ( just not a clean river ).
Their souvenir photos were however very expensive and the tour recording was not clearly understood .
The Melaka Straits mosque was really special.
I would definitely like to be back.
Lots of bargain shopping 🛍️
The Hotel is centrally located and easy to get food outside the Hotel and Melaka Ole-Ole which is across the road from Holiday Inn is the best place to buy souvenirs from Malacca. It has the best parking and so many parking space near the Lobby and covered parking below the lobby and it is free and you could also reserve a parking space. It has shuttle going to Mahkota Paradae and Stadhuys [Red Building] every 2 hours and return but must book in advance. They have Executive Lounge which we fully used. Their pillows are really very comfortable.
THE PLACE IS NICE! It is clean, AC is working, Smart TV has netflix, hot water is working, kitchen was clean. And plus IT IS INSTARGAMABLE. I choose this place cuz it is just right across Mahkota Medical Center. Walking distance 5 mins to the hospital, it also has shopping malls near by, so it is easy to find foods. I would definitely stay stay here again if I visit Malacca
Very zen and cozy vibe, loved the interiors of the hotel and rooms. Location was perfect to reach nearby attractions by foot. The river suites were spacious with a great view of the malacca river and the bath tub jacuzzi was the best part! Complimentary bath bomb and bubble gel were included which was very thoughtful of the hotel’s side.
The hotel is very well located in the historic center of Malacca. Thé room was very clean, beds are very comfortable and clim is ok.
All the personal is very nice and helpful. They help us Booking a taxi because we had an issue with the grab and it was very helpful !
If we have the chance to come back ro Malacca, we will go in this hotel
Superb hotel in the ideal location to explore the historic centre of Malacca.
Comfortable spacious room, pleasant breakfast buffet served in the courtyard. Staff friendly and helpful. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend as this hotel exceeded our expectations, especially for the price we paid.
This Baba House hotel provided an incredible stay experience in Malacca. Their receptions and staff are very friendly and helpful during our stay.
The hotel is minutes from the most famous place, Jonker Street, where you can have authentic food, souvenirs, and an exceptional experience.
Location is gd. Near to city center. My children luv the bathtub. Loc at shop house, pharmacy walking distant, atm at petronas station ( 5mins walk). I will repeat stay on my next visit. Even i frequently visit malacca at other hotels, i prefer coastal park.
the staff and the location, we had a mistake on the date that we reserved the hotel they changed the date for us but the problem was although on the website there was an on going promotion but they called us from booking.com to change the payment amount
good view from the room but a bit far from to old town, however, you can walk along to the river till the old town and street arts.
Also, the hotels were connected to the mall. Where you can buy food or they have a restaurant inside the hotels.
The location is so near to Asam Pedas Claypot and Jonker Walk and there is dobby next to the hotel, very recommended if you planned to visit Malacca. The staf is so helpful and greatful, Definately will come again
The ecstatics of it. Really good place for people wanting to experience living in the original living space of a Malaccan. Loved the concept like it is a hidden hotel as it is being access via a bakery.
This is my second stay-cation @ Bayview Hotel. I didn't want to spend time looking for other hotels because this hotel is very convenient and strategically located in town. Easy access to parking too.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff name Huda, she was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Malacca.
Everything - room, cleanliness. Has smart tv in the room when most 5 star hotels don't even have that. Great value for the price. Short distance to town within 10-15min depending on traffic.
