Our host picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry which was extremely helpful. The property was clean, great aircon (vital as it was super hot) and was clean. It was in a good location for the main beaches.
Hibiscus House Bed and Breakfast is located in a quiet and peaceful residential area of Contadora. Free Wi-Fi access and a hearty American-style breakfast are included.

Hibiscus house was a great place to stay on the island. The room was great and the bed comfortable. Air conditioning was good. We had a TV and access to Netflix and other programs. The breakfast was great. Both Nicola and Allen were great hosts. When we asked about anything, they were very helpful in answering our questions. They picked us up from the ferry and took us back to the ferry. Our room was cleaned everyday.

The house was beautiful. It had 3 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, so it was absolutely brilliant. The location is perfect. We would totally recommend it. The people who looks after it was brilliant and so willing to help at any time during the day.

Great location - 2,5h from Panama City. Quiet isolated island. Great beaches. Staff was very helpful. Good food. It is nice place to stay 2-3 nights to really rest.
Beautiful island . Perfect for family time and relaxing.
Beautiful island . Perfect for family time and relaxing. Gorgeous, pristine beaches with soft sand and warm water. We mostly ate at our hotel but the food at Pimienta y Sal was really good too. Pimienta y Sal is right on Playa Larga which was my favorite beach of the three we visited. You can rent a golf cart at your hotel to get around the island, which is also very walkable too. Going to contadora next time, I would take one of the small planes that come in daily several times a day, especially if you’re pressed for time to get back to Panama City. The ferri ride is ok but I takes 2 hours each direction. The plane ride is only $20 more and it’s a lot faster. I would have really liked to have had the time to stay a couple days longer. We had a wonderful time!!!

Contadora Island made an easy get away from Panama City over a weekend during a two week work trip. The ferry to the island was affordable, easy and we even saw humpback whales and dolphins on the way. The beaches I visited on Contadora were clean with beautiful warm water. If I return to Panama City for work again, I am likely to book a trip to Contadora Island again.

Ferry ride from Panama City was easy, comfortable and safe.
Ferry ride from Panama City was easy, comfortable and safe. Island is also very safe, with friendly people and beautiful beaches. Renting a golf cart was the right thing to do as it allowed us to explore everything. The tap/shower water smells a bit funky, and there are not a lot of restaurants/food choices, but otherwise great for a few days for our family of three - we came for the gorgeous beaches! The town is very quiet, this is not a party place.

Contadora Island is beautiful and very safe.
Contadora Island is beautiful and very safe. The whitish, sandy beaches, and transparent to turquoise water are splendid. The disadvantages are the relatively high ratio of the cost of hotels relative to facilities. Food is very expensive. Restaurants charge European type food prices. In most of the US you would pay less for the meals served on Contadora. Fresh fruit is relatively hard to get on Contadora. If we return to Contadora we will bring fresh fruit and other food from Panama City.

The onsite dining facility (stunning view of the beach and nearby islands) and good food) and complementary breakfast were fabulous. Pleased to have an early morning gratus coffee before breakfast was being served. We ate at a couple nearby restaurants a few blocks away....easy walking distance.
Casa Tortuga (Italian) is a dining experience not to be passed up!
We walked everywhere but golf cart rentals looked like fun too.
White sand beach was perfect 'front yard.'

The Island is a beautiful paradise.
The Island is a beautiful paradise. Full of wildlife in land and sea. Great place to go inshore and offshore fishing, diving, snorkeling and whale watching. Its a fairly small island with main roads in good conditions which makes moving around fairly easy. Given the chance to rent a golf cart, do it. (Its worth it if you plan to visit all the beaches because "taxi" service could cost between $5-$10 per trip which is ridiculous considering the size of the island). There are 3 supermarkets in the island, although the goods are expensive. Most restaurants are expensive too. Expect to pay city prices or more in some restaurants. I would recommend to visit playa la ejecutiva and playa sueca. The best restaurant quality/price is pimienta y sal (for seafood, ceviche and fried fish).
We can strongly recommend Contadora and the Loft. Michaela (the owner) communicated with us very well.
We were picked up at the ferry by Elena, she took us to the apartment and she organized a golf cart for us and a whale watching boat trip that was absolutely fantastic- we´ll have life lasting memories. The apartment was spacious, very clean, and we´ve enjoyed the evening on the terrace with a view of the ocean thru the tree branches. We will definitely come back for longer next time.
Mar y Oro is a 15 room gem of a hotel/bed and breakfast. The environment is very relaxing, there is not a lot of activity on the island of Contadora. The staff was gracious and attentive, dinner and ambience is outstanding. Good vibes all around, but don't expect brand new, this is a beach hotel, a nice one, great AC in the room, but not modern plumbing, water pressure etc.. limited island resources.
Great stay at Gerald’s. Staff here are so friendly and helpful with everything. Had a good breakfast to set us up for the day. Great evening food in the restaurant too. Gerald was always there to offer help and advice on what to do and see, he even arranged a buggy for us to get around. Hotel is ideally placed to see things. We would go back to stay.
The hotel is very nice, with a familiar atmosphere. The room was big, confortable and super-clean. Breakfast was delicious. Nicola, our host, was an awesome lady, super helpful and professional. We miss her and we hope to come back at Hibiscus some day. Was an excellent vacation. Thank you, Nicola, for everything!
The staff (Mr. Elbert & Mrs. Veronica) were super warm, welcoming and very helpful. They have so much knowledge about the island and the history of contadora. The house was very well stocked, the facilities for entertainment have everything you need and more. The kitchen equipment was clean and very complete.
The island is nice with 3-4 cool beaches and there are other islands in the archipelago worth visiting.
Andres did the welcome very well and was available throughout the stay in case we needed. The house is quite nice but doesn't get beyond the minimum level of service.
The property was really good value for the price. The best thing was the excellent service from Paul, he was right on time to pick us up from the ferry arrival, he have us tips to of places to go and beaches to explore. Great guy!
The hotel is great. Really nice beach, very friendly staff and the food at the restaurant is delicious. Look for boat tours with Marino, he is an expert fisherman and knows exactly where to find the whales.
Robert is an incredible host. He met us at the ferry, helped us rent a golf cart for the island (which you definitely should do) and was just an all around 5 star host. He also has an incredible cat :)
The staff was wonderful! Roxanna picked us up from the ferry and drove us around island, took us to grocery store, beaches and found snorkeling equipment for us. Excellent customer service!
Daniel was very nice, he did everything that make us feel comfortable. The location of the Hotel is very good, you can walk to several beaches in a few minutes.
The view was amazing, also Helbert was available to run us around the island in the golf buggy which was so helpful. I would totally recommend this place.
We are very pleased with the excellent attention of all the staff and owners of Hotel Gerald. Highly recommend this hotel and it’s team! Thank you all!
