After just being in NYC and DC we loved the quiet and peaceful in Altoona. People are genuinely nice and friendly. It’s beautiful and far from the crowd, not much happenings but definitely a good place to detox. We came to stay overnight on our drive to Niagara Falls. All of us loved the atmosphere here and we didn’t want to move on! You will find yourself back here!

Altoona is a wonderful city, with lots to do and great food to eat. There are so many neat old buildings to see and numerous family friendly activities to do. The food options is Altoona are amazing. Altoona also has the BEST ice cream and milkshakes at The Meadows.

Nothing great about this hotel at all!
Nothing great about this hotel at all! First off you charge double for a graduation weekend for a hotel that is the worst I've ever stayed in. Our room was suppose to be non -smoking but reeked of smoke and marijuana upon entering. The recliner that was in the room was odd and was dirty! Sheets were stained. Air conditioning did not work. Don't stay here if there are other options available.

We were in Altoona one night, so take that for what it’s worth. It seems like any other blue collar town in that part of the country. Staff at the hotel were very nice. The hotel was okay for an overnight stay. There was nice little mall across the street and a Champs and Cracker Barrel across the parking lot.
We decided to get food and drinks within walking distance of the hotel, so went to Champs next door. We’ve never been in one, so we weren’t sure what to expect. It’s a typical locals hang out. It seemed popular.
The next morning we skipped the continental breakfast at the hotel and went to Cracker Barrel. The food was good, but our waitress was pretty rude. I know that’s not a reflection of the town, but it seemed much of the staff at that store were rude and short with people. It was crowded though. People seem to still be milking the “mediocrity is okay because of COVID” excuse.
Anyway, Altoona appears to be a safe mellow place to stop when you are traveling. I watched a couple YT videos about the town before traveling. Altoona has an interesting history, and is oddly scenic as is much of that part of PA. I think if U lived in Altoona, I’d move.

We came to Altoona as railfans, and as such the Town and the region is a must see. We came principally to see a particular locomotive parked in front of the Juniata Shops, everything else was a bonus really. The Railway Museum was actually much better than the slightly dated exhibits portend. The interactive exhibits using actors in films in period settings, was really engaging to me and interesting, tho they really need to update the media technology and about 20% of the interactive exhibits did not seem to be working. The actors in the films were really good. I liked the exhibit's particular use of personal histories and anecdotes. The collection of actually trains is a little sad, as they clearly haven't the budget to actual restore anything. Most of their collections is wasting away badly (decay is fortunately interesting to me). If you're looking for restored or preserved trains, I would say there are much better collections. As a survey of Altoona's great railway history, however, it was fascinating historical study in American Capitalism. That all said, I really enjoyed the museum, and i think the entrance fee was worth it. Note that you can also do some great railfanning from the parking lot. Obviously, the horseshoe curve is another must-see, and is a beautiful natural heritage site, in its own right. Probably a much better experience in warmer weather. Altoona is a great Railfanning experience and also good for American historians.
We thought the breakfast included in our stay was the best included breakfast that we ever had in any hotel. Friendly service who was working the dining area. He kept up with cleaning tables and refreshed hot food. The front desk staff were all friendly as well. We also appreciated the new design of bathroom supplies of soaps and lotions. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and everything was neat and clean. No odd smells. Modern updates which we appreciated.
Great location, close to the shops and eateries.
Comfy rooms, breakfast has a nice choice and 24/7 coffee is a great bonus. All staff friendly and happy to help, a couple of minor issues in our room but both were rectified immediately and one was on a Sunday. Looking forward to staying again next time we are in Altoona
We especially liked the indoor pool and the complimentary breakfast in the morning which included hot food such as waffles eggs and home fries as well as coffee and juice and water with ice. The location was great and right in the middle of lots of shopping and restaurants. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean.
The hotel was great, it's in a fairly quiet area. The pool was nice. Breakfast was good. The woman at the front desk, Janelle, was fantastic. She was helpful, friendly, enthusiastic. She deserves a raise.
Good location, around a 30 minute walk into town for the shops and eateries, Sheetz across the road for good food and drink needs. Love the mini Market in the hotel lobby area and the pool was lovely.
Pool was great; Breakfast was very good ( a great addition would be raisins for the oatmeal); easy access to all parts of Altoona and highways were convenient; nice parking lot; comfortable beds;
The staff were friendly, the room comfortable and clean. The location excellent and parking at the hotel was free and plentiful.
We didn't use any facilities.
Loved the microwave and fridge!
The desk attendant that I spoke to when informing the hotel we were checking out at 930 after being rerouted from a non housekeeping attended dirty room to a loud poolside room.
The location of the hotel is very good, not too far from the highway which is very convenient. I like the hotel because is very clean, quiet and the stuff is very friendly.
Very easy to find and access location made this a good choice for my trip. The staff were friendly and courteous and the hotel was spotlessly clean both inside and out.
Staff was very friendly, stayed in other hotels in the area and this was by far the cleanest and nicest, Rooms are extremely comfortable, will definitely return!
Its clearly a newer hotel, reception said to me 2016 and it still has that feel. bed was great, facilities and wifi and quiet I would happily stay there again.
