Visitors are welcome to communicate either in Japanese or in English. 柊日 is not only a relaxing accommodation but also a delightful part of our trip. This home has everything you need for a luxurious stay. It’s got such a beautiful feel from early on in the morning when you feel the crisp air. We particularly loved the private hot spring, and most of all, the host was obliging, hospitable and wonderful to engage with. We had such an incredible time in the little town of Azumino, which had so much to do! The town has many fruit farms and rice paddies and is just a beautiful countryside escape. We really felt such a great sense of community in this town and met such lovely people. Make sure logistics are well organized - we had to take a train and then rent a car to get here, but it was totally worth it. The drive itself was a treat with autumn foliage throughout the mountains. If in doubt, just do it. Especially if you’d like to get away from very packed touristy spots in major cities.

Shino is very helpful and friendly. He helped us with bikes and recommendations in the neighborhood. Expect an authentic Japanese countryside experience. The rooms were basic but everything was very clean and Shino helped us out getting settled and offered us an extra room.
