Renovated in 2015, IORI Stay is nestled in Takayama. This traditional Japanese-style townhouse was created in collaboration with local artists and boasts designs with both modern and traditional... Check in was smooth and so many free amenities and a nice breakfast. All the beddings were prepared with a bottle of water for each bed too.

It is situated in a very quiet and pleasant town away from city noise and it is combined with a vinyl and old CD listening experience. You can listen to whatever you like in a spacious house and you can buy the records afterwards (so we did!). The owner was really friendly and speaks English very well. He was kind enough to drive us to Magome-juku town as we couldn’t find a way ourselves.

Soramachi was a very comfortable house with good facilities. Probably the most spacious and nicest accomodation we experienced in our travels through Japan. Only stayed 2 nights but it provided a relaxing and quiet break from the crowds elsewhere. The house is right on the river and close to a tranquil temple walk and public bathhouse . It is an easy walk from there to the old quarter and we walked to the house with luggage from the station ( 1.4 km). The owners are obviously very house proud and welcoming. Highly recommend this accomodation.
