Offering a garden and quiet street view, Shimanto Riverside Hideaway is situated in Shimanto, 12 km from Shimanto Historical Museum and 12 km from Ichijo Shrine. I had booked this place because we were going to do an activity in the area, it was canceled on that day but I kept this booking even though it can be a little difficult to get to (I would recommend taking a taxi from the train station, bus service is highly irregular).It seemed like it would be a good experience (staying at a Traditional Japanese house in the country). I was right. Kenji is an excellent and helpful host. Our room was one of the most beautiful we stayed in, lots of detail: carvings , kami dana, beams etc. The beds=futons were warm and comfortable. It was quiet and you could see stars at night. You are near the river and can see/ cross one of the famous bridges. This is rural Japan and I loved it.

Located in Shimanto, Shimanto River House Yuube-Tei features 2-star accommodation with private terraces. There is a private entrance at the holiday home for the convenience of those who stay. Everything was perfect and the hosts are such an incredible lovely couple. Couldn't have asked for more. There is also a fantastic sashimi place down the road.

Offering a garden and mountain view, Carpe Diem Kamaida is set in Ochi, 22 km from Hijiri Shrine and 23 km from Odo Dam Museum. Excellent Hidden Property along the Niyodogawa river. Just beside the Aso Submersible Bridge. The quality of the house is so excellent that it is too underrated and the photos don’t do justice. The actual house seems to be so better and witty visiting.

River, Mountain Retreat at 四万十Accommodation is situated in Mihara Village. The property features mountain and garden views. Rosie is one of the best parts of this accommodation. Not only her friendliness welcomed us well at the beginning, but also the talk and recommendations about planning the trip. The mosquito net is another thing that we really like.

Featuring free WiFi, Oyamanoyado Michitsuji is an 100-year old, traditional Japanese-style home in Otoyocho. Free private parking is available on site. Daisuke and Yumiko were wonderful hosts and the inn is a beautiful traditional Japanese house surrounded by incredible scenery. Yumiko's cooking is amazing, and she used a lot of locally sourced ingredients and taught us about them. We had a fantastic time here and wished we could have stayed longer.
