Yukinohana is a really nice Ryokan. It has some yukata that you can wear around the hotel, and also has 3 nice private onsen that you don't need to pay extra for or book in advance, so if you have tattoos, you can still bathe! It also has really clean, comfy rooms, and some free ice cream in the afternoons, plus free half-sized ramen in the evenings! It also has a delicious traditional Japanese breakfast. My friend and I spent our entire stay in the hotel, other than briefly going out for dinner.

Great location, very friendly and very authentic. This is a true, local gem. They have breakfast and dinner available. You don’t need a car, but it would definitely be convenient if you wanted a day off snow or to check out the surrounding attractions

It was difficult to find a restaurant in the area for dinner, but we finally found one in a neighboring town (Shiozawa). There is a well-stocked supermarket and many pharmacies for daily needs. We enjoyed spring skiing at Kagura and want to go back during the winter season when there is more snow. It's better to have your own car to get around the area.

A ski resort town just an hour away from Tokyo, the bus terminal side of the station got a good old Japanese vide to it, and the back is more tourist centric, the closest resorts, gala, and Kogen is smaller than expected with crowed narrow runs, but with a 20 mins bus ride you can get to kagura, which is a bit old but with wide and good runs of all difficulty, and you don’t need to wait for any lift

I go to Yuzawa during winter.
I go to Yuzawa during winter. Naeba is my go-to place for snowboarding. It has excellent slopes for beginners, and also some tight curves for the more advanced. It's a little village, public transport is reliable but not frequent; so make sure to check the time table.

Breakfast was great.
Breakfast was great. Japanese style breakfast with many choices to choose from. The only thing I didn't like was the futon style beds on the floor. I just had knee surgery in March and getting off the floor in the morning was difficult. Staff very friendly and spoke english.

Excellent visit.
Excellent visit. New finds were a) spaghetti restaurant within station called Uonuma Italian Grill & Dining. Best spaghetti I've ever recall having b) electric-assisted bikes for rent next to station. Critical given the hills in the area. And priced very reasonably. I was able to tour the town for the first time.
The hotel location is wonderful! Only 700 metes ( 5 minutes walk) from Echigo Yuzawa station; and 5 meters ( cross the main stree) to Yuzawa Kogen Ski Center. The owner are two beautiful and nice ladies. The facility was recently re-new and the hotel was very clean and clear. Wifi connection was good. My iPhone was lost at the Ishiuchi Ski Center, the owner drove her car and help me to retrieve my phone efficiently. The younger lady can speak good English so that she provided with some travel advise.
Very clean and comfortable. It's surprisingly quiet even close to the street. We had sound sleep every night. It's quite close to the Train station, only about 5 min walk.
The manager, Eric, is super helpful, providing a lot of useful advices, incl the choices of skiing resorts to suit my need.
They are also very generous on many respects, such as unlimited coffee capsules and tea bags, and extended checkout time under conditions.
The hotel is walking distance to Echigo Yuzawa Station. Unlike dedicated hotels with ski resorts where we are always in the hotel, we can venture out from the hotel for food, outside aki rentals, convenience store, as well as souvenir shops all within walking distance.
The staff was great as well as the free shuttle bus to and from the hotel. Sleeping on the floor mattresses was also a good experience and we really liked it.
The hotel had a shuttlebus from the station. That was great because we had a skibag with us. Next time we will send the skis one day before we arrive.
The hotel is big, it has a shop, onsen. We tried the private bath, it was great with western style.
Yamamoto has a desk at the hotel so you can easy leave your ski bag and send it to your home. The will help you to fill in the forms.
Great hotel right on the ski slope. An older style hotel and a little empty, but it was lovely nonetheless. We will happily be returning here next year. Large outdoor onsen and great breakfast every morning. I the staff were very friendly and shuttle was always able to take us into town. Our room was enormous by Japanese standards and view of the beginners ski run was great.
Despite being a hotel, the rooms come with traditional tatami and futon options. The onsen facilities are surprisingly good and spacious, offering both indoor and outdoor onsens. The hotel is also kids-friendly and located just few minutes away from Echigo-Yuzawa station.
Do note that there is quite a steep slope up to the hotel (if you are carrying heavy luggage).
There is an equipment rental shop on the first floor.
Transport was provided from train station to their place and also back to train station.
There's ferry service to ski resorts available too.
After a day of activity, there's hot spring available at their basement. Water temperature is perfect for a cold and tiring day
Staffs are friendly too.
Customer service was excellent! Our ski gear was dried with the rest of the rental gear. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Onsen was tiny, but perfect. Breakfast was good. Location is across from Yuzawa Kogen gondola/ski resort. Parking is off site, but very close by and cheap. Highly recommend, would stay here again!
Onsens were amazing! Meals were incredible, especially the dinners. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location was excellent within a couple of minutes to ski lift. Great that the hotel offered snow shoes to walk the neighbourhood and shuttle to the station was also very helpful.
The location is great. It was close to the Gala ski resort (it's a 10 minute walk to the ski resort. it's much better to take the hotel shuttle). The Kaiseiki dinner was delicious. The view from our tatami room was beautiful. the hot spring bath house was good.
Good value. Staff very helpful and nice. The public onsen in hotel was spacious and nice. Rooms are simple and clean. We stayed in the Japanese tatami room. Shuttle to Gala Yuzawa Ski resort stops in front of hotel. Line up early as the shuttle can fill up fast.
The hotel room was very comfy, service was great, outdoor onsen was amazing, buffet bf and dinner were good. Very clean and thoughtful they even provide yukata and slipper to wear for onsen. Will come back and stay again for sure :)
very good onsen facilities (2 floors of onsen with different baths available) . Location near to train station. Food options wise might be a little limited late at night near the hotel. Hotel is best visited during the winter?
Special appreciation to all Sansan members for offering nice place and warming services to us! Besides, two cute and lovey cats are the other reason you should visit it! It's the best backpacking hotel for skiers.
Good space for a family of four. The hotel is located just beside Iwappara Skii Resort. There is a shuttle from/to Echigo-Yuzawa station. Staff are friendly. Family Mart is just downstairs.
