Royal Mile is 5.9 km from the guest house and Edinburgh Waverley station is 6.3 km away. Chris and Sinead were incredible hosts and made us feel at home from check-in. The breakfast each morning was something we looked forward to each day. It was restaurant quality (wife asked for a recipe) and the soft background music (personal note here) was spot on. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The property is located near a bus stop, so getting around isn’t an issue. Lastly, it’s a 2 minute (max) skip down to the beach. It’s one block away.

Location though not in the city center was actually excellent. Bus stop(s) near and couple of times we even walk from city center to our guesthouse (max 30 min walk, by bus would take as long because buses have like stops in every 100 meters). Very clean, tea/coffee making facilities in the room, biscuits, fresh milk was provided (BIG bonus points from me cause I drink my coffee with lots of milk and I don`t like those tiny separate coffee creams). Comfortable beds, enough pillows (2 for both). Kathryn is very helpful and friendly. Neighbourhood was quiet.

The location worked perfectly for my travel plans. Delicious breakfast each morning and lovely conversation with the Landlady Elizabeth and fellow guests. Close proximity to a bus stop for an easy access to Edinburgh. Ample parking and WiFi.

Edinburgh Castle is 20 km from the guest house and Hopetoun House is 20 km away. Lorna was an amazing host. In general, accommodation around Edinburgh is quite expensive so we found this place which was relatively affordable compared to other places and had a high rating. It is a house-turned-b&b, has 3 small rooms and a nice small dining room. Everything was super clean and Lorna was the friendliest host we have ever met. She gives you a small form to fill every night to get your breakfast preferences and time to eat. Her cooking is lovely. Definitely recommend her full Scottish breakfast with Haggis. She cooked the best haggis out of the 3 restaurants we tried. The only downside was that the place is quite far from the city (45 min bus ride - take X27) and there is only one bus that goes there but if you catch it and don't mind the travel time, it is definitely worth a stay.
