Skradin is a small village with a quaint old main street with a few cafe bars and restaurants, and a bustling marina. All very inexpensive. Recommend restaurant Dalmatia, at the end of the main street as you walk to the marina. Krka is beautiful, and a short boat trip takes you the entrance to the national park, skrafanski buk. Tickets MUST be bought at the krka glass house. Where the information was frankly useless. They are just there to sell the entrance ticket. The guides and information inside the park, are however very good. Tickets must be bought for the boats at the information huts on the way to the boat terminals, and are bought separately to the park ticket, the glass house or information leaflets do not tell you this. Well worth it though. Leave very early in the morning to go all the way to the top.
Picture postcard town that should be on everyones bucket list. There's the beautiful old centre with complete walls surrounding up, beautifully positioned on the Dalmatian coast. Plenty of meseums, shops and restaurants. Every street is picturesque. No cars allowed in the old town making it a more pleasant walking experience.
We visited for 3 days, toured around Dalmatia and returned for another 3 days before flying home, but the first visit made the second much easier and more enjoyable and made us want to return.
my husband and I had a very enjoyable week stay at the Eden hotel. The food and facilities were first class and enjoyed a very comfortable room overlooking the bay. This is a great base to explore Dalmatia/Split with good transport to the Split old town and it is situated on beautiful Sunset Beach.
I was here off season. I wanted a quiet place where I could walk with lots of water. I got it and the water is everywhere and gorgeous. There was not much open which would not please some people. But there was enough open to buy food or go have a coffee and Zadar is only 15 minutes away by bus. I was also able to travel to Split and Dubrovnik which affords seeing the entire Dalmatian Coast which is spectacular. People here mostly also speak German or some English so communication was not often too hampered. I would imagine Italian is also common.
Knin fortress is excellent, around the town there are some great natural attractions such as Krka falls and Dinara. This town is a great place for a base if you want to explore Dalmatian hinterlanda
The best was the amazing old city. Very clean, the streets and all. A variety of stores. ATT machines all over available. The old city being at the see. The panorama is breathtaking. The possibility of tours within Dalmatia as well as the countries around. One thing we were informed and is extremely good and important is to ban or restrict the enter to the harbor of huge cruise ships.
I personally appreciated Split more than Dubrovnik. It was a real town with locals actually moving about their business in it. The scene is festive because of it being a university town and friendly to tourists. It's a good jump off point to explore the Dalmatian Region. We went boating around the Pakleni Islands and Hvar and as a bonus, we even got to interact with dolphins. Had such a memorable experience in this place.
Like most cities and towns I experienced in Dalmatia, Zadar is dedicated to tourism, so is full of shops offering worthless kitsch. But the old town itself is delightful. Easy to walk around, and I was not bothered by touts.
Beautiful old town in typical Dalmatiam Coast style - rather touristic compared to less visited places on our overall journey across this region. Found a hidden gem restaurant called ERA - only small but not touristy and excellent standard of food.
Privlaka
It’s just a few minutes away from Nin’s Queen beach, one of the longest stretches of sandy shoreline that one can expect along the Dalmatian coastline. The property itself is a haven for travelers- far from the madding crowd, a beautifully furnished set of apartments tucked away in the quiet village of Privlaka, and a 19-meter pool that offers a great way to beat the summer heat. an attached bar, fridge, bbq space is great if one’s hosting a party or in a large group. The host is welcoming and very attentive.
The stay at Penthouse in old Dalmatian house was a wonderful experience. The apartment is clean, well decorated with all the amenities you could need. The photos are very accurate but the view from the balcony is even better in person. It's a short walk to the main area of town and felt private, quiet and safe. It is up the hill so there will be stairs but we did not have a problem with it. Anita was very nice and accommodating to our schedule for checking in and out. We definitely recommend staying here.
Kastel Stari, Kaštela
The property was exceptionally clean, the hosts Jelena & Zeljko were very welcoming, the view from the entire apartment was incredible and the town was peaceful and safe! The apartment is also surrounded by a number of restaurants and cafes all within walking distance. We landed late at night and really liked the fact that there were basic supplies on arrivals such as milk, juice, bread cheese and ham in the fridge. We were welcomed with a wonderful platter of local cheese and Dalmatian Prosciutto!
Hvar
We loved our stay at Villa Softic. Host Ivana gave us a warm welcome telling us the best places to swim and eat nearby. The apartment was the most spacious we had throughout our two week stay in the southern Dalmatian islands, thoughtfully arranged, with a huge comfy bed and soft throws, a kitchen and large terrace where you could eat outside enjoying the sea view...the little beach down the road is a five minute walk away. A perfect location in a quiet neighbourhood, an 18 minute walk from the ferry.
Great apartment. Newly and tastefully furnished, well kept and equipped, spotlessly clean. All the amenities you would need: dishwasher, laundry machine, coffee machines, hair dryer, new AirPlay enabled TV - if you have time to watch TV, that is! Gorgeous terrace to indulge in the sun, with unobstructed view of Rogoznica bay. Rather easy to find. Partially shaded parking is abundant - which is a rather rare occurrence in Dalmatian towns. Loved every minute of our stay!
The views from the balconies and poolside are simply incredible. Lokva Rogoznica is a small village 10 minutes from Omiš and our favourite part of the Dalmatian coastline by far. The Villa itself is stunning and equipped with everything we needed across three levels as a family of 10. Our host Karlo and his family made us feel so welcome and provided us with local knowledge and some of the best meals we had in Croatia at their family run restaurant the Berekin.
Sveti Filip i Jakov
A beautiful apartment on a perfect location on the Dalmatian coast. Beach for swimming and sun bathing right in front of the house. We swam almost everyday. Also a quiet place, just far enough out of the village centre, but also very close to the shops, restaurants and bars. Also a good place to discover interesting cities and parks of Croatia (coastal road behind the house, highway very near). Beautiful view from the upper balcony. We always ate outside.
Exceptional views of the Dalmatian coast. Staff were lovely, very friendly and helpful (arranged taxi back to airport for us) Food was tasty and we dined on the terrace enjoying the views. The hotel is a 5 minute walk down to the water taxi which takes you up the coast to Trogir island. You can also book other boat trips/hire boats from this location. Great place to base yourself to explore this area of Croatia-beautiful country !
Kastel Luksic, Kaštela
The host family went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Ivana made us a traditional Dalmatian style breakfast each morning. She is a superb chef and a most gracious hostess. We will definitely book again, each time we visit Croatia. Exceptionally clean, close proximity to the beach, old historic area and great restaurants and cafes are within walking distance. Secured spot to park car, easy access in and out.
Stayed one night only on our way back to the USA after staying with family. The highlight was visiting and eating at the nearby Dalmatian Village. My family is from an "actual" Dalmatian Village and it was spot on. Loved being pampered and wish we would have stayed longer. The hotel ordered a taxi to visit the city center and the conversion from dollars to Kune at the hotel was seamless.
Gorgeous hotel right next to the beach. Has huge territory compared to others hotels in this area. Lovely spa, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness room. Very good breakfast and dinner was included, which is a huge bonus, the food was fantastic with a very good selection. Hotel helped with a smoot airport transfer. It is about 1:15 from Split airport. One of the best spots to stay on Dalmatia coast
Trogir
The apartment is based around 15 minutes away from Trogirt Center. For me it wasn´t a problem. The hosts are super friendly and answer all your questions about Dalmatia and the region and also help you when you have questions regarding excursions and are also answering all other questions that could accure during holidays. The apartment was super clean.. i felt like at home.
Slano
We had a wonderful week at Villa D&D, where we were well looked after by Sylvia. The apartment provided everything we needed for a family holiday, with truly amazing views of the bay. Perfectly located to explore the Dalmatian coast as well as to visit Dubrovnik, and literally a few steps from the sun beds on the beach! We've fallen in love with Croatia!
Mastrinka, Trogir
The apartment was small but very clean and nicely decorated. The host, Danjela, was very helpful and charming. They even washed our laundry for us!!! The view from the balcony was absolutely spectacular, looking across the bay to Trogir and the Dalmatian hills. We did not swim, but there is beach access very close to the apartment.
Privlaka
Everything was great, very kind host, clean and comfortable apartment, lot of beautiful beaches highly recommended for families with children close to the apartment (Privlaka sandy beach, Ninska Laguna, Zaton, Vir island beaches 5-10 minutes far). Nice venetian style, dalmatian spirit old towns in Nin and Zadar, superb restaurants.
Trogir
Good location in relation to beaches (10 min walk) in a vacation area where rentals are high. Good value. (Caveat: Some (not all) retirees may have difficulty negotiating the walk to the beach; like most Croatian rentals on the Dalmatian Riviera, the walk to the beach is downhill and the return is definitely uphill.)
Primošten
The apartment was huge. The views of the sea from the balcony are amazing. The owners were lovely people and very helpful. Parking was just around the corner. The old town, bars, restaurants, shops are all within easy walking distance. It was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Dalmatian coast.
Brodarica
A friendly and welcoming owner, fast response time. The kitchen was small, but functional. Had all the pans and pots I needed. As expected, for a three star apartment in Dalmatia, we didn't get any condiments in the kitchen. Not even paper towels. Fortunately, we came prepared :)
Personal was extremly helpful and kind, especially at the reception desk. The hotel was clean with local dalmatian cuisine literally on the beach. I would recommend this accomodation for families with children, as there is hotel pool, gaming room and other activities for children.
Seget Vranjica
This is literally the best place to stay in Dalmatia and Croatia in general. The breakfast, the service, the place, the people, you name it - everything can and should be rated 11/10. Thank you to all the people working in this villa, it was incredible!
