We had a lovely stay here, the family was super friendly and really helped us with everything: getting transportation, earlier breakfast, extra GB for our SIM card, laundry and more! The food was really good and there’s a semi wild orang utan with a baby that climbs in the trees next to the huts sometimes! I would highly recommend staying here.

Sam's Bungalows has a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Bukit Lawang. The accommodation features room service, a tour desk and currency exchange for guests. Truly a magical place! Located almost directly in the jungle this accommodation is a wonderful place to find peace and connect with locals, such as Sam and his team. The bungalows are clean and provided us with everything we needed. The best part of our stay there was the staff: they are incredibly nice and welcoming in every way. They took us through a trekking tour in the jungle where we spent a night camping. Not only did they guide us through the jungle (we saw orang Utans and many other animals !!) but also they prepared wonderful meals, made a bonfire and sat down with us to chat and play games at night - always with a smile on their face. It was such a great experience which we will never forget! Thank you Sam, Andre, Ram, Riki and rest of the team!!

I loved the people! They were a family and we felt included right away! Then i would say they have easily the best location on the river and could swim beautifuly! And the food was amazing and had many vegetarian options and we loved to learn some culinary skills from the chef :), we stayed for 10 days and it was amazing
