Thambu illam was one of my favourite stays in Sri Lanka! I felt at home and comfortable. The staff were amazing including the night time security, Joseph, who kept us company and shared his story while we stayed up past midnight. Mathu the manager checked in with us when we didn’t arrive on time for our booking and he responded quickly to messages. The supervisor was exceptionally helpful and got us almost anything we requested for our meals. Thambu illam brings you a feeling of being in your ancestral home and the little details they paid attention makes it even magical. We will definitely come back here to stay with our family on our next trip.

My top pick for a stay in Jaffna is undoubtedly North Gate Jaffna. We, a group of six, stayed for just over a week, booking a suite and a deluxe twin room. Upon arrival, we were greeted with welcome drinks and a friendly staff team. Gopinath, the front office manager, made sure our experience was comfortable throughout our stay. The hotel excelled in every aspect, from food and entertainment to accommodations. The restaurant offered a diverse menu, ensuring we always had new dishes to try. Room service was both quick and exceptionally friendly, much to my children’s delight. Kajintharan, who deserves a special mention, kept our room spotless daily and amused the kids with multiple towel animals. Having visited several other hotels and restaurants in Jaffna, I can confidently say none compare to North Gate Jaffna. It's the ideal choice for anyone seeking comfort, great food, and entertainment, complete with a well-maintained, sizable swimming pool.

We had a two floor suite, which was very spacious. On the ground floor there was a living room, a kitchen and a hottub. On the first floor a bathroom. A bedroom and a balcony. The restaurant serves dinner via buffet and breakfast in buffet during the weekends and weekdays a la carte. Good kwaliteit of food.

Located in Jaffna, 600 metres from Jaffna Public Library, Jetwing Jaffna provides accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Exceptional customer service, staff are friendly and very helpful. A good selection of food available for breakfast, lunch, dinner and it was delicious.

The room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and pillows. There is a fridge in the room and and tea making facilities in the lounge area outside the room. We were given two small bottles of water on arrival. The shower works well with good hot water, once you get it adjusted properly. There is a shower screen too, but like all bathrooms in Sri Lanka the bathroom floor still gets wet. The air conditioner works well and the room also has a large ceiling fan. The hotel is well located just 1.6 kilometers from Jaffna Fort and about a kilometre from the rooftop bar at the Jaffna Jetwing Hotel. Breakfast was not included but is available, we did not have breakfast at the hotel. All in all a good place to stay.

We recently stayed at the PJ Hotel for three days and had an excellent experience. The staff went above and beyond to assist us, making our stay incredibly pleasant. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment to relax in. While we didn't get a chance to try the hotel's food, as Jaffna has some fantastic restaurants that we chose to explore, we are definitely looking forward to trying the hotel’s cuisine next time. Overall, a great place to stay with exceptional service.
