If you have read other reviews from properties in Tanzania indicating how friendly and genuine were the staff, that’s because it’s usually true. But this place was over the top. We were sorry to leave. It is located within Tarangire Park, which jacks up the price since you are paying entry fees for every day you are there, but we found it well worthwhile for the week we spent there. Very few people do that, and we spent some days NOT doing the usual safari, observing quietly the life that came by, as opposed to chasing after it in a car.

Elephant Rock Luxury Camp Tarangire ligger i nationalparken Tarangire och har en restaurang, en bar, ett fitnesscenter och panoramautsikt. We love the camp setting, but it is very far from the gate, so anticipate miles of bumpy ride to the camp. The room is large. Once the curtain is put down, it is quiet and peaceful. Dinner and Breakfast are just OK quality. There is nothing to do in the evening except sleep. Overall, it is a fine camp in the wild.

We have spent a night at Maasai Eco Boma, and honestly we regret not spending more nights here. All of the usual positive comments are here: beautiful boma and surroundings,well designed rooms with comfortable beds, tasty local food, and the friendliest staff that was always ready to help and share a couple of words and smiles. But the thing that we liked most about this property is a warm story behind it. This Eco Boma is a shared project of the local Maasai community living in one of the underdeveloped areas of Tanzania, that use this property as a mean of improving quality of life and to preserve the culture of the entire Maasai community. Everything here is local produced from the surrounding farms. Moreover the community invests the profits from this Boma into the community. They have already built a school, with the goal to achieve better education for local children. Currently they are transferring the funds in the water collection systems, to fight the worsening effects of the climate change as well in the construction of the local clinic. Will definitely come back, and recommend to others!
