The area around the Capitol buildings and state museum for Pennsylvania history and administration - all open to the public Great riverside walks Poor on in town restaurants Home of the Hershy
Coming from the west coast it's nice and refreshing to visit a city rich in history and also to experience life on the east coast. Architecture is beautiful and you feel the history running through the streets in south philly and old town close to independence hall and Pennsylvania landing. Fun place to spend the winter. I've gone twice in December now and there is no shortage of activities. Sports teams are all close by in a sports complex. Food is diverse, reasonably priced, and always something new to try. Close proximity to Washington and nyc also make it nice knowing you can take the Amtrak and be in New York City within an hour. Love philly!
New Hope is a great little town on the Delaware River in Pennsylvania. It has fabulous shops and restaurants. I lived in NYC for many years and New Hope was a fantastic weekend getaway destination. The stone houses, the beautiful setting, the comfortable accommodations all contribute to making New Hope a great place to visit. As a young person who lived in NYC all during the 70s and 80s, I was always surprised that there was such a fun, yet tasteful gay resort-ish town this far out of the City. But lo and behold, it was there. New Hope. The town is for everyone, though. It caters to an upscale crowd of all persuasions. I highly recommend a visit to New Hope, Pennsylvania.
Hollidaysburg was a quaint little town with churches of all denominations. Pennsylvania became a melting pot for all in the colonies. Very pleasant to walk in the historic district and downtown. The mountains in the background are very scenic and hold stories that we wish we could have had time for. Rail travel in the US started in this area. Will plan to stay longer next time.
Loved the Pennsylvanian countryside out from Lancaster, esp the Amish farms and observing their way of life. Took a buggy ride with Amish drivers who explained the different sites and way of life.
A very under-rated city to visit. Lots of historic sites, beautiful neighborhoods, excellent art and history museums, tons of good eating venues, really friendly people. Of course lots of tourists around Independence Hall but everyplace else was easy to get into and some amazing sites. Some beautiful colonial and early 19th century neighborhoods around Rittenhouse Square. In addition to all the colonial sites I'd especially recommend the Philadelphia Art Museum, Rodin Museum, Barnes Collection, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Penn Museum at U of Pennsylvania (for archaeology lovers), and tours of City Hall and the nearby Masonic Temple (amazing buildings)
This is a wonderful location for shows (Sight & Sound, American Music Theater, and others), entertainment (Dutch Wonderland), outlet stores, and tons of restaurants featuring chains and delicious Pennsylvania Dutch food. Easy access to the sumptuous offerings of the Bird-in-Hand market. Amish horse and buggies are often seen traveling on the side of the road.
Very friendly ambiance and people. Beautiful location at the confluence of three rivers. Great local food and restaurants. Impressive cultural facilities. Great sports stadia (Pirates and Steelers). Stunning surrounding countryside in Western Pennsylvania. Everything is reasonably priced.
What a fascinating and wonderfully preserved centre of American history. I really wish I’d booked to stay longer, but I’ll just have to return. So much to see and learn; I was touched by the personal stories and the real sense of loss and tragedy that this beautiful little Pennsylvania town witnessed. I have so much respect for the way this hugely important point in the country’s history has been preserved and commemorated.
We were in Wellsboro on a trip through the state of Pennsylvania in winter. Wellsboro in winter can be a sleepy little town during mid-week. We stopped there to hike some of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, but unfortunately, the trails were closed because in winter they can get icy. We had crampons, but we couldn’t use the trails regardless.
Chambersburg
Over the summer of 2021 we have traveled to and from Pennsylvania to Virginia several times, the hotels were always disappointing no matter how much we paid. The Red Roof Inn in Chambersburg was the one wonderful exception. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, the bed was comfortable and everything worked as promised while the staff was courteous, knowledgeable and kind. We were so impressed that we immediately booked our return stay.
Staff was positive, helpful, friendly. The room was spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and the shower had perfect water pressure. The location was great for our family vacation - easy drive to Hershey Park, about an hour to Gettysburg, and right next door to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. The grab n go breakfast had a decent variety (but suggest adding some fresh fruit) We would definitely stay again IF the pool was open
Same old WERPs, stinking it up, THEY live in all of Lehigh valley Pennsylvania hotels for free, or dope exchange 💱, AKA 50/50 split 🪓, Jew and a WERP, then LCNs famous cleanups, on my computer science forensics IDENTIFIERS linked to the REAL CATHLEEN WILK, me, big half million dollars in crypto from writing money, Roundup litigation settlement money, online ADVERTISING global DOLLARS.
Honesdale
I was welcomed and felt safe and comfortable. Clean and comfortable room. Like a homey atmosphere, a room in a house that is designed like a small town motel Inn. The price was a bit high for the location but the room made it worth the nights stay. Only other option is a more expensive old Hotel owned by the same company. Next time I would try the upper scale version of rural Pennsylvania
I came into town to see my daughter perform Holiday Inn with the Pennsylvania Playhouse. Great sold out show! It's fitting that I was staying at this Holiday Inn! It is very welcoming and clean. The staff is attentive and responsive to the guest's needs. They go over and above to exceed your expectations. This is the second time I've stayed here and it won’t be the last.
The game room and pool were a great attraction for our boys. They especially liked the pool slide. My wife really liked having a small kitchen with a stove top, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. We experienced all the comforts of home. We have visited this Hotel five times in the past and will continue to use it in the future when driving to or through Pennsylvania.
This is a beautiful old hotel. I was traveling to Connecticut, on my way back from Indiana, where I got my puppy, and I hadn't heard of the hotel, but I was SO pleasantly surprised. It's a grand place, the room was fabulous and huge, and everyone I spoke to was helpful and friendly. I hope I have to go through Pennsylvania again just so I can stay there!
This was my home when I went to Erie, Pennsylvania, for work. The hotel was an excellent value for money. It was a peaceful place to stay and all the facilities in my room worked real fine. The breakfast was okay and the members of staff were nice. The location was excellent. In short, if you are travelling on budget this is the place for you to stay!
I liked that it was right near the town of Gettysburg Pennsylvania, I wanted to take a vacation there with my girlfriend and I. And everything about the hotel it was clean and very decent sized room to stay in. It had a nice sized half bath and two big queen sized beds. Also had a microwave and a mini fridge along with lots of light and a tv.
I’ve stayed at dozens and dozens of hotels in Pennsylvania but this one stands out. The staff felt like family. Almost was like staying with extended family. They were helpful and very friendly. Definitely worth the money. Can’t wait for my next stay there. A week after leaving my son kept asking when we’re going back to the “fun” hotel.
Customer service helped me get the correct name of the hotel and correct passcode to get into the room. My booking location was supposed to be called “The Pennsylvanian” on my email but it wasn’t so I had a hard time finding it when the address took me to the Amtrak parking downstairs (and not the main entrance). Customer service helped.
Hershey
I liked everything about it! It surpassed my expectations. The outside of the building looks old but to our surprise the room was not, it was great, updated and the cleanest of all the hotels I’ve stayed in during my travels around Pennsylvania in the last few weeks. I will definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it.
The Penn Wells Hotel is a Grand Dame' destination hotel. Nestled in a wonderful part of Pennsylvania, The Penn Wells offers visitors access to all the amenities of Pennsylvania's Grand Canon for amazing views, birding and hiking and biking. The staff is always extremely hospitable and the place is just squeaky clean.
For my purpose it is centrally located and very convenient. It is a pleasure to find a clean, comfortable, well-priced hotel. I will be using this location as a "home office" when traveling in Pennsylvania/Maryland The coffee was great and available anytime!! And a free breakfast can never be overlooked!
Tru was an excellent travel experience. From Marjie at the front desk helping me with my reservation and going above and beyond to ensure my comfort to the clean and tidy room...I do not have enough nice things to say about this hotel. We will be staying here anytime we are in Pennsylvania.
The bed was very comfortable and the whole apartment was extremely clean and well taken care of. There is a pizzeria nearby and a dollar store too. I took the bus there from the train station and walked to the Pennsylvania Farm Complex in about 30 mins
Lancaster
Was very reminiscent of my childhood trips to Pennsylvania. Very simple and cozy. No big thrills and not a million rooms, not a chain hotel. Very quite, we never heard our neighbors. We appreciate simplicity.
Somerset
This was the first hotel we used in Pennsylvania since we arrived from Texas and they we very polite and the price was great. It's also located near alot of things in the town so you can get alot done.
The room was clean and modern, with abundant electrical receptacles and USB receptacles. Location is excellent, especially for Pennsylvania Convention Center. Room temperatures are easy to control.
The hotel felt fresh and clean! The lobby was warm and welcoming complete with beautiful Christmas Decorations. This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in when I travel to Pennsylvania.
