The unit had all that we needed for a warm comfortable nights stay, and the spa bath was a nice bonus. Plenty of parking, and the kitchen and bathroom has had some refurbishment done.

Didn't think I was going to stay in a backpacker lodge after my backpacking days but I'm glad I did. The room was clean and acceptable for a one night transit stay in Taupo. I booked a room with a private toilet so my experience may be slightly different from the other backpackers in the lodge but for the cost and the clean bed abd good night's rest, Haka Lodge is bang on the buck.

1-2 days maximum is more than enough. Food their is great and beautiful coffee, but do keep in mind everything is expensive as it is a tourist spot. Otherwise great location to visit. I visited Huka falls and Wairakei terrace hot pools which was an amazing experience.AkashNew Zealand - 10Scored 10

Good selection of activities and a beautiful lake to swim in or take a boat ride. Many choices of restaurants and cafes serving up good tasty food. Lots of retail shops catering for clothing, souvenirs, charity shops, churches and a great library.

The local buses need to run later into the nighttime.
The local buses need to run later into the nighttime. Restaurant and Fast Food place sort of central in about 4 blocks. Huka Falls Jet and Rapid Jet need to consider a shuttle service from downtown Taupo because it is dare for a Uber ride and even darer for a Taxi. My favourite place to eat was Portofino Taupo, their service was exceptional.CameronNew Zealand

We stayed in a 1bdrm apartment which was the perfect size for our young family of 3. The room was a fantastic size so we could all stay comfortably. The pool and gym is great and very clean, gardens beautifully kept. But the staff are the best thing we think; from front desk to house keeping everyone was very helpful, laid back but attentive, warm, friendly and professional at every exchange. We stayed for two nights and the room was fantastic. A great size, comfortable bed, good shower, large TV and a kitchenette. The host Anthony was very friendly and welcoming. He gave us really good information about what we should do and see during our stay in Taupo. He even offered and gave us a lift to pick up our rental car.

The restaurants provided high quality meals, we had breakfast and dinner. The hotel location was close to the town centre which gives good access to shopping, restaurants and sight seeing. The Waipahihi botanical gardens are close and provide a nice walk option.

It is located at the lake front, 2 km from the city centre. The room is on the ground floor, only have to open the patio door, you can step out to the lakeside. It has a great view at the sunset. The room service was good, both staff who delivered the meal were very polite and the service from the kitchen was very quick. The foods were very good.
