Hotel Serendipity's staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful - for example (1) meeting us at the main boat pier on arrival and escorting us, carrying our luggage on a cart, to the hotel, (2) discussing and arranging an excellent birdwatching tour, (3) general housekeeping including fast turnround on laundry. The hotel is very new and pleasant with a central covered courtyard for meals. Location is near the Reserve and the beach but also near a small supermarket and a short walk into the main town.

The owners are really nice. She only speeks spanish, but he also speeks good english so we always could communicate well although our spanish is very bad. They also organized a kanou tour for us including an english speaking guide, which was very great. The family room we had was very spacious and clean. The breakfast, which was included, was various and included also as much coffee as you want. You can also refill your water bottles for free, which is great. The dinner including a juice as well as a small dessert, can be booked for a fair price and was also very delicious. This lodge is located directly next to the water on San Francisco. If you want to relax, this lodge is ideal, because san francisco is not that touristic. The lodge also offers a relaxing area with nice hammits. If you want to visit tortuguero you will need to take the public boat, which costs only 1000 collones one way.

Offering a garden, swimming pool and spa, Aninga Lodge is located 3.2 km from Tortuguero National Park. everything was perfect, the location of Aninga is great as Tortuguero is easily reachable and one trip costs 2000 colones pp, staff is very friendly and helpful - we even had a couple of monkeys climbing the trees above our cabin!
