Hotell Gamla Fängelset is a converted prison from 1861 located in central Umeå and offers free WiFi and breakfast. All rooms have windows and shared bathroom facilities. The hotel is really original: it was a prison once, turned into offering a more pleasant kind of hosting... The hotel is super clean, the staff extremely kind and helpful, the price is very honest for the offered service. I travelled with my three children and I was worried of the shared bathroom, but in the end it turned out to be an advantage since we could have a shower in parallel, saving a lot time!

Everything was explained well on check-in when they found i had an early flight they offered a breakfast take away bag which was there in the morning. Coffee available all day and a meal included for dinner, meant I did not have to go out.

U&me hotel is located in the center of Umeå, just 50 meters from the Umeälv. The contemporary furnished rooms all have a fantastic view of the city or the river. The room was very nicely designed and decorated. It was a great idea to put the bed facing the great view from the room window.
