Special note for the food quality : during our 3 week stay in South Africa, it was, by far, the best meals we ever had ! We will definitely come back to Ashbourne for our next trip to Kruger :)

Before we reach the hotel, we drive through the avocado and macadamia plantation that belongs to the estate. Upon arrival, Tracey, the owner of Highgrove House, is waiting for us for a warm welcome, refreshing towels and a welcome drink. Tracey passionately talks about the history of the family business and shows us the beautiful gardens and main building. You imagine yourself in a bygone era. We notice that attention to detail will be the guiding principle for our stay here when we receive a tour and are escorted to our suite. Literally everything has been thought of. Over the past few days we have been spoiled culinary and we have really enjoyed the peace and nature. Nothing was too much for the team of Highgrove. We wished we could have stayed longer. We’ll be back!

This is an absolutely gorgeous guest lodge, with beautiful gardens, a pool, and beautiful views of the valley. The room was beautiful and 5 star. People were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed working and relaxing at Abangane and had quite a few good meals at the restaurants close by at Perry's Bridge in Hazyview.

Isabel is such a great host always cheerful and bubbly and going out of her way to make sure we had a great time. Our room was large and very comfortable and the bathroom had a large walk in shower. The garden/pool area was beautiful, with many interesting plants & trees. Breakfast was plentiful, with a selection of cereals and fruit to start plus a cooked breakfast. The location was a 5 mins drive to the shops and restaurants and there was a very friendly locals bar/restaurant 10 mins walk away. We would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are driving the panoramic route or doing safaris.

Phip and Margie are fantastic hosts, who did everything to make us feel comfortable. You can feel that they love what they do and that they have been doing it for 17 years. They think of every detail. Their package breakfast was one of the best we have ever got. There are just 5 rooms in the lodge, so every client gets a very personal treatment. Sometimes it looks more like you visited an old friend.
