I rarely consider that I must give a 10 and write a few words on top of that. Our experience was perfect. The host was extremely kind, very patient with our spanish speaking, always attentive, making us feel more than welcomed. She arranged everything for us, including transport at 4 o'clock in the morning the day we left. I would definitely recommend the moto-taxi drive to the desert in the morning and to the observatory in the evening, they are superb experiences by themselves.

Mirador Valle de la Tatacoa in Villavieja provides accommodation with a garden and a terrace. There is an on-site restaurant and free private parking. The owner, the family, the view, the tiny houses, the meals, the service - everything was perfect… The owners were very helpful during our stay, helping us to navigate to all places we liked to visit. The atmosphere at the accomodation is very welcoming, relaxed and the view is absolutely amazing… also a perfect veranda to watch the stars at night. We enjoyed every single bit during our stay!

Biohotel tatacoa Qji is set in Villavieja and has a pool with a view and garden views. There is an in-house restaurant and free private parking. For us, this was a New Years Eve luxury booking which made a change from our backpacking budget! The hosts and staff were incredibly friendly, polite, attentive and went out of their way to make us feel so welcome and ensured we had a comfortable stay. We even were able to amend our booking quite last minute with no trouble. The menu is delicious and we tried various options, pizza, veggie lasagne, the pad Thai sand poke bowls, all of which were incredible and the best food we’ve had on our entire 9 month trip in South America! Breakfast is included too… a yummy arepa and eggs, however you want them, fresh fruit and the coffee is delicious too!The restaurant area is a perfect place to watch the birds in the trees, we really enjoyed this. The pool is natural and stunning, taking a dip here is highly recommended as you feel so immersed in nature. The cabins are all unique and wonderful, we stayed in ‘infinity’ and couldn’t stop smiling from the time we stepped through the door, a fabulous outside/inside aesthetic with a hammock net to lay under the stars and taking a shower under the stars was a real luxury for us too. We can’t rate this ecolodge enough, if you can visit, it’s a must!

The hostel is in a great location close to the main square of Villavieja. Everything necessary is very close. The rooms are very clean and the beds comfortable. Also there is a nice patio which is great to to relax and spent some time in the hamacs. Also sandra, the landlady is very attentive and nice.

I stayed in a private room and it was great value for money. Andrea was so kind and helpful, offering me food and drinks throughout my stay. She also helped me to organise a wonderful tour in the desert and my bus back to Neiva. Good kitchen and Wi-Fi. Luna the dog was so cute too!

Located just a 10 minutes walk outside of Villavieja, this beautiful cabin works great as a starting point for exploring the area. It has a great bed, amazing bathroom, a kitchen, a TV, air conditioning, and a laundry machine. There is a good, local restaurant almost next door where you can eat, or you can go into town.

I loved the cottage, and the whole feel of it. It felt like we were secluded, so that was really nice.

To the center where are shops and restaurants is few minutes.
