This is a jewel of a stay!

Boasting a garden, Hospedaje Casa Monge is situated in San Gerardo de Dota, within 17 km of Cerro de la Muerte. Both free WiFi and parking on-site are accessible at the apartment free of charge. Staff on-site can arrange a shuttle service. This was a beautiful magical place. The best place to see Quetzal is near an avacado tree right on this property. The cabin is right on the river, walking distance to two restaurants with beautiful patios. The drive from Quetzales national park entrance is lots of switchbacks and you must be very careful. Look for the “unicorn lodge” sign on your left coming down the mountain in San Gerardo. “Casa monge” itself isn’t well signed from the main road. I would recommend this place to anyone, it was fantastic! Dirche, the owner, was absolutely lovey and took us out at 5:30 to see the quetzals. I would also recommend the waterfall hike about 2kms down the hill from Casa Monge- a bit treacherous at times but well worth it, 2-3 hrs total!
