La Guesthouse En è una casa vacanze situata a Maki, Shiga. La stazione più vicina è quella di JR Omi-Hachiman, raggiungibile in 12 minuti di auto. Guesthouse En is a beautiful rural getaway. The house was large compared with the many small hotel rooms we stayed in during our stay and it was so lovely to stay somewhere that had genuine Japanese atmosphere, but that also catered to western tourists (e.g. the bath/shower is suitable for both western and Japanese travellers). We also appreciated the little extra touches like an automatic heater in the toilet and decent coffee bags. The bikes were great to get us to and from town, and Hiroshi was also very generous to take us to and from the station for a day trip to Kyoto. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get out of town and experience Japan a little more slowly.

Situato in una ex residenza di mercanti locali, l'Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast si trova a Otsu, a 700 m dal Tempio Mii-dera. Tutte le camere sono dotate di TV a schermo piatto. A beautiful, historical building set in the old part of Ōtsu, I spent here a night before heading to Kyōto. The staff is friendly and competent, breakfast was abundant and tasty.

Everything was explained to us in English (as we don't speak Japanese). And very detailed. Dinner and breakfast were really good..They took the effort to serve us different menus as we stayed 2 nights. Very organised.

We booked this property with a bit of hesitation as there were very few reviews on booking.com and we didn’t regret it a second! It is in a very peaceful residential area, quiet, restful night’s sleep is guaranteed which was very important to us. The house is warm and cosy as we had a bit of a cold weather it was important. We felt at home and had a great base to explore the city of Kyoto, Otsu and all the surrounding area. There’s everything you would need in a household and more. There’s also a nice garden which we couldn’t use due to the cold weather. The owner is a very sweet attentive lady and a great host who took care of every single need of us, so that we felt like staying in a friend’s house. With or without car this accommodation is a great choice to escape the crowds of Kyoto and yet be in 25 min distance to downtown Kyoto. We stayed there for 10 days and explored the whole area. I cannot recommend Sayo’s place enough! I would love to come again sometime.

Beautiful farm house, large, clean, full kitchen, laundry,the host had a steaming bath ready on arrival with lovely hot tea! Also a free gift from their garden! Superb hosts and a lovely house, also great value!

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Guesthouse Shin is located in Omihachiman, 38 km from Sanzen-in Temple and 39 km from Mount Hiei. My wife and I are not young folks anymore. The trip to the bathroom during the night was somewhat difficult for us. The bedroom was on the upper floor in the lovely traditional Japanese house. The narrow stairway was challenging for us. There is ample room downstairs and perhaps owners would accommodate a request to put the bedding there.

Situated in Nagahama, in a historic building, 14 km from Hikone Castle, Hitoiki is a recently renovated ryokan with a garden and terrace. Prenotato quasi a caso in un viaggio itinerante, si è rivelato un posto magnifico. Nuovissimo, super spazioso. In un quartiere storico bellissimo che la mattina dopo abbiamo visitato con grande gioia. Silenzioso la notte e con un comodo parcheggio riservato nelle vicinanze.
