Probably the first place where we stayed where the reality exceeds the property photos. This is a gem! Beautiful, tastefully restored little house in a quiet remote village which is really close to Heraklion by car, just in 10 minutes you suddenly find yourself in a different world than the touristy seashore, a piece of traditional, rural Crete. But be aware, you do need a car - which is cheap to rent in Crete anyway. The owners left some tasty local products for us (honey, butter, marmalade, some bakery product, olive oil, even raki!) so we didn't have to care about the first breakfast. There is a place to park just in front of the house which is very convenient. (Don't be shy on the narrow streets that leads there, the car will fit).

Villa Strata (en sti til Psiloritis-bjerget) ligger i Kardhamianá, blot 37 km fra de venetianske mure, og tilbyder indkvartering med have, terrasse, grillfaciliteter og gratis wi-fi. Villa Strata was an amazing stay, super clean and fully equipped. We stayed there for one night and immediately fell in love with the place, the house, the village and the locals. Michalis was an excellent host, always available for help and recommendations and he made us feel at home. Can't wait to come back!

Flamingo color valey house ligger i Palekastron, 500 m fra Maridati Strand og mindre end 1 km fra Kouremenos Strand. Der er have og udsigt til haven. Amazing stay and fantastic location! Costas is a very warm and helpful host. The house is located in an olive grove a few 100 meters from the calm beach of Maridati (and 1 min from the Maridatis restaurant) where you can go snorkeling as there are a lot of fish! The house is spacious and comfortable, it has a small terrace with a view of the surrounding. You will see nothing except the occasional sheep, rabbit or 'house' cat which we befriended. If you enjoy a quiet and totally relaxing stay, very close to an amazing and less known beach with few people and great swimming in cristal clear and calm waters, then don't hesitate. On top of that you have a taverna close by with amazing hosts (Eleni and Manolis) and great food. We will be back. Thank you, Costas, for the warm welcome and your kindness!

Fantastic location with everything you need in the apartment. Lovely view from the balcony and very peaceful to sit and relax. Marina the host was extremely helpful with local recommendations for food in the area and was very easy to communicate with and always replied to messages immediately. It is about 8 mins walk into the old town but there are many nice restaurants at the doorstep and it’s nice and peaceful during the day and evening and very quiet at nighttime to enjoy an uninterrupted sleep. Marina left us some lovely gifts of a cake, wine, flowers and a selection of local products as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and it will be such a memorable one. We would definitely recommend this property and if we return to Chania we would definitely stay here again.

Mikro Livadi Special Lodges - Has an Eco Salt water pool - 150m from the beach ligger i Episkopí-Rethimno og har have og solterrasse. Chania ligger 34 km derfra. Vores familie på seks - forældre, børn (3 og 7 år) og bedsteforældre blev modtaget med stor hjertelighed og venlighed på denne lille familiedrevne virksomhed. den Vores ophold varede 10 overnatninger i juli, hvor vi havde to lejligheder ud af de fem, Mikro Livadi Living består af. Værterne var overstrømmende imødekommende, generøse og gjorde en kæmpe indsats for at opfylde alle vores ønsker til specielt vegansk, velsmagende mad. Vi fik bl.a. serveret lækre kretensiske specialiteter tilberedt af grøntsager og frugt fra stedets eget økologiske landbrug, såsom pandekager med fennikeltop høstet i april og nedfrosset til sommerens brug og friskplukkede friterede zucchiniblomster. Stedet ligger kort fra en dejlig strand op til hovedvejen mellem Chania og Rethymnon, men er alligevel tilbagetrukket fra turiststrømmen og fredeligt lige med undtagelse af cicadesang ;) Saltvandspoolen er helt unik med udsigt til bjergene. Anbefales varmt til familier med børn og til alle, der gerne vil sove roligt om natten og spise stille og roligt i en dejlig restaurant.

Wooden House Apartments ligger i Kaláthenai, under 14 km fra Kissamos/Kasteli Havn og 23 km fra det antikke Falassarna. I loved the simplicity and closeness to nature.
