Two full days is plenty of time to explore Berat.
Two full days is plenty of time to explore Berat. The castle is worth a visit maybe a taxi up and walk down as its very steep. The two bridges are nice to walk over and the view at night is wonderful. A nice reasonable restaurant is Friendly House the restaurant is upstairs and looks out over the river.

Berat is definitely on of the cool city on my list. It will be great to hire a tour guide for the explanation and exploration around the old castle area.
Based on the local suggestion, every year, there is an event called epiphany on Jan 6. It will be super good if you can witness this wonderful event.

Was very underwhelmed by Berat.
Was very underwhelmed by Berat. One big building site and litter everywhere. View is alright but nothing special. Not much to do. Very quiet in March but traffic already tough so wouldn’t want to be there in summer.
Only playground in the village was extremely dirty and many things were broken.

Berat is a beautiful city, with breathtaking views,...
Berat is a beautiful city, with breathtaking views, beautiful streets filled with life, and amazing food. Definitely worth a visit. For homemade traditional Albanian food visit Lili Homemade food, perfect experience, lovely hosts and very delicious and cheap food
Hotel Berati is incredible value for money, located very close to everything worth seeing in Berat. The interior is gorgeous with a traditional design and the rooms have that rustic traditional vibe while also being spotless. The rooms are spacious, and I had a large private balcony looking out toward the mosque and orthodox church. Breakfast was basic but varied with enough fuel to do a lot of walking around the city. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful whenever I had questions; her level of English was high.
Great hostel - staff are super friendly and helpful. Location is perfect - right in the centre of Berat. The included breakfast is great - Albanian pancakes, fruit, hot drinks, veggies. It was great to be able to use the washing machine (5 euros). Easy check in with good explanations and recommendations and a shot of raki to welcome us. We stayed in the quad room with our family - very clean, comfy beds, good AC. Nice common rooms. Excellent hostel!
I would highly recommend Amalia Hotel. The hospitality of the staff exceeded my expectations. In addition to the cleanliness, comfort and the rich Albanian breakfast, in the lobby of the hotel were displayed different types of drinks (including wine and homemade "rakia"), fruits, teas, cookies, etc., which you can try for free. There is also a very cozy courtyard, where you can enjoy a drink and the view of Berat's castle. Everything was perfect!
The location was excellent in the middle of the heart of the old city of Berat. Everything is reachable by foot, the castle by foot is nearly 10 minutes away but a little bit difficult because of the inclination, it is also reachable even with car.
The host was very friendly and helped us with information. The architecture of the hotel was very good and shows the characteristics of traditional building.
The breakfast was traditional.
The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful. Breakfast was excellent and the croissant was the best I’ve ever hand. The young lady who assisted with breakfast was very nice and took care to ensure that my wife’s dietary requirements were met. The location, just across the river in Gorica means you have a short walk to Berat Castle and other attractions. Parking was easy in a reserved area next to the hotel.
We spent two amazing days at Aurel. The hosts very extremely nice and helpful. They speak both English and Italian, so there's no problem with communication. The rooms are very comfortable with a view on mountains and beautiful city of Berat. The best part of our stay here was delicious, home-cooked meals. If you want to try traditional Albanian dishes, you're in a right place. We highly recommend this cosy hotel.
This place is magical! Located in the quiet walled medieval city of Berat, this hotel has all the modern comforts, wonderful service, delicious breakfast included, and reasonable price too! We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff is kind and attentive, with the kind of old school service not common today. Perfect location with short walk to handicrafts, wonderful restaurants, sightseeing. Highly recommended!
Absolutely wonderful stay at Berat. This family runned hotel is situated inside the Berat castle walls which was very nice. The owner is absolutely hilarious and very helpful. The hotel is decorated traditionally which is nice. The breakfast and dinner at the hotel were amazing, one of the best meals we had on this vacation. I would definitely stay here if you are seeking an authentic Albanian experience.
The hotel is located in a renovated and restored old house on the fortress of Berat, in a beautiful and quiet place, ideal for a pleasant vacation and getting to know the rich history of the city.
The hosts are very kind and full of useful information.
The rooms are clean, tidy and comfortable.
The hotel restaurant is located in a very nice area and offers delicious traditional Albanian dishes.
Xho's Forest Guest house is a family run hotel. The rooms were comfortable and the common breakfast area spacious. The owners were very helpful. They helped us getting taxis. The breakfast was ample and tasty. They also had laundry services which we availed. All in all, I would recommend this hotel for those visiting Berat.
Fantastic hotel in the centre of Berat. The views are superb, large windows to see across the river and hillside. We had two rooms, both were very spacious, traditional features but modern bathrooms. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was the best we had in Albania. It’s on the main road but included parking spot.
The hospitality of the family who runs the hotel is incredible. The food at the restaurant was the best we had in all of Albania. The owners were so accommodating, sweet and polite. The location was central and the facilities were very well kept. Would stay here anytime we travel to Berat.
My daughter and I had an excellent stay here. The hotel is family owned and run. All of the staff was very nice and helpful. We had a problem with our rental car, and the father, son, and uncle assisted us with the problem. The hotel is centrally located in Berat. I highly recommend it.
A good option for those who want to stay in Berat, but not in the old town areas. Ample parking, comfortable beds/rooms, and a short walk from all of the sights. The breakfast was okay - what you expect from a hotel that typically only hosts guests for one night.
The hotel is stunning, very clean and very comfortable. It’s got great views and is close to the attractions in Berat. Also had supermarkets close by. The best breakfast I’ve had in Albania. An absolute gem and if I’m in berat again, I will go here!
Everything! Excellent location. Attentive service. Beautiful building. Probably one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. We had a very chat with the staff there, genuinely nice people there. Will recommend it to everyone who visits Berat.
This accommodation is really beautiful, clean and the staff was really nice as well. A very big plus is guarded parking, which is located 100m from the actual hotel. The breakfast was really tasty with an outstanding overview of Berat.
Very friendly family run hotel.
Very clean and tidy.
Nice hot water in shower.
Tasty variety of breakfast.
Location is easy to find and a walking distance from downtown Berat.
Parking nearby 2€ a night.
Exceptional hotel in Berat. Extremely comfortable and welcoming, with a fantastic breakfast. Location is right in the heart of the old town’s narrow alleyways. Highly recommended.
