Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Alps, Innsbruck is not only a world-class European ski resort, it’s also the former seat of Maximilian
I’s Holy Roman Empire.
This imperial legacy has left its mark, most notably in the Old Town where beautiful Rococo buildings sit alongside pastel facades and typically Tyrolean, flower-adorned windows. The visitable Hofburg imperial court owes its modern appearance to 18th-century Empress Maria Theresia.
The Hofkirche contains a memorial tomb for Maximilian I, and his life is depicted in frescoes on the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) nearby, named after the gleaming, copper tiles lining its entrance.
Flying into Innsbruck Airport, it’s easy to see why the city was so highly regarded. Practically every street ends with a view of the Alps, lush in summer, snowy white in winter. Nestled on a slope is Schloss Ambras, ex-residence of Archduke Ferdinand II, while the surroundings provide summer mountaineering, hiking and golf.
In winter of course it’s all about the fantastic Innsbruck skiing and snowboarding. Ski areas include Nordkette mountain, accessed by cable car and chairlifts near the town’s hotels and B&Bs on Booking.com. Its varied pistes means that several international competitions are held here, as well as the Bergiselschanze ski jump contest. The après-ski is laidback and centred around chalet-style bars and traditional restaurants.
Innsbruck is beautiful and a must see! Ideal to walk around as it's not too big and there are many beautiful things to see and do.
So close to the mountains so skiing or hiking is a must.
Great places to eat as a variety of choice-great little pizza place called Farina which as an Italian, I can highly rate!
There is also Skifskeller which is fantastic for local cuisine! Great food and great atmosphere!
I would highly recommend the Innsbruck card, it was absolutely fantastic and saved us SO much money as so much is included.
Would definitely return to Innsbruck! :)

Innsbruck has a wonderful location: a charming, not so large city in the midst of spectacular mountains. The Hofburg palace is interesting, is nicely located in the midst of the city and adjacent to a wonderful imperial garden with beautiful old trees. The other main palace, Ambras, is also interesting. It is located outside the city, well reachable by public transportation and surrounded by a great, hilly garden. The picture galeries and ancient furnitures of these palaces do not reach the quality of the top European castles, but are historically interesting.
Public transportation is excellent. The city is very lively, quite touristy, but also casual, a good mix of local people and visitors. Nice cafes along the river and the main streets in the city center. We ejoyed the food of Il Convento and the Trattoria de due Sicilie. Reservations necessary!

Innsbruck is a great city to spend time in.
Innsbruck is a great city to spend time in. It has a huge variety of restaurants, and great shopping if that's what you are in to.
Public transport is excellent, and you can base yourself in the city and buy a pass that is valid for a number of city sites, the public buses, and 13 ski resorts which can be easily reached by bus.
There is a funicular railway up to Nordketter, Innsbruck's own ski area.
There is a very easy student/university vibe to the city at night: highly recommended

A relatively small city among the Alps.
A relatively small city among the Alps. The old town is absolutely charming and fully walkable, If the weather is good, a visit to the Hafelekar summit by the cable car Nordketten is not to be missed. Also, Swarowski World Wattens and Ambras Castle are at a 15 mins distance.
Day trips to Munich, Oberammergau, Bolzano, Kitzbuhel and Zell Am Zee are easy.
This hotel has the best view on Innsbruck. We really liked that the staff let us choose which view we wanted 1 - The city center and Nordekette (Seegrube, Hungerburg and Hafelekar) or 2. Patscherkofel Mountain, Train Station and the other side of the city. We choose the option 1, the hotel let us do an early Check-in and it was perfect to wake and fall asleep with this view. The best was very confortable, the bar (breakfast Room) on the 13th floor was an amazing 360 view. The breakfast was good, but not the best we ever had.
Despite the position is not at the very city centre, you can reach easily on walk/bike distance every spot that deserves to be seen!
All the staff has been gentle and ready to answer our demands, they’ve been very kind and they let us store the bikes overnight in a special room inside the hotel.
Breakfast was rich and products were really good. We decided to have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant and was very good at fair price…we would choose Dollinger again for future stays in Innsbruck!!
Well located, close to main train station, everything was accessible by bus and tram.
20-minute stroll to the old town.
Hop on Hop off bus (Sightseeer) around the corner at the train station.
Innsbruck Card well worth the money of you are staying for a couple of days and visiting many attractions.
Parking under the building in a public but paid carpark with an entrance direct to the hotel.
Great location, on a hill with a nice view over Innsbruck. 10 min walk from the tram station - 20 min ride to old town every half an hour.
Large free parking available.
We enjoyed the sauna - free towels and bathrobes provided.
Good variety for the breakfast.
Although we booked for a room without balcony (cheapest option) we got a free upgrade to a room with balcony, which had a great view.
If you are coming to Innsbruck for its great nature and the best ski resorts of Europe, you can choose Hotel Kapeller as a comfy resting zone for your holiday. Tram was just a couple of minutes walking away, and the view of the room was amazing. You can see the beautiful Alps as the first thing in the morning when you get up. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend it.
Our stay was just wonderful. The hotel is super sweet located a bit outside the Old Town but no problem getting there in bus. It’s in a quiet area near the most gorgeous park. We took a bus to our hike which was convenient. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The room had a kitchen which we used. Basics to prepare breakfast and small omelette dinners. Groceries nearby. Highly recommend.
This was a 10++ stay. Magic location in the old/historic part of Innsbruck. A beautifully renovated hotel, bar and restaurant. Comfy rooms and comfy beds. We had two rooms, located next to each other. Special requests were granted - many thanks! Great restaurant with a modern Austrian theme. The buffet breakfast was the best meal of the day!!! Best coffee since we left Australia!
This is by far one of the best places I have ever stayed. The hotel is beautiful, it is right in the Old Town - perfect location. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. The bar and breakfast is first class and the staff are all lovely and so attentive and helpful. Service was amazing. I cannot recommend enough. It is a real treat!
Breakfast was excellent with good choice of items & plentiful supply of food. Location for city centre was good with short walk to old town & convenient for railway station. We only stayed for the one night for which the hotel was adequate. The price paid reflected the standard of the hotel. Staff that we met were helpful enough.
Although the hotel/room is dated, we were still comfortable. The room was clean. Fresh towels every day. Good breakfast; great variety; comfortable breakfast room. The best is the location. Can't beat this hotel for the location! Walking distance to everything: train station, old town, funicular and cable 🚠 cars, ski jump, ECT.
Great hotel in a the old town. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Room lovely and spacious- we went during a very humid / hot time so could've done with air conditioning but couldn't fault the hotel room. Breakfast was lovely. Staff were very friendly 5 stars for the staff!
Classical Austrian breakfast, the room was cozy with a nice view. We had a bathtub in the room which was really nice. You have a bus stop close to the hotel to get into Innsbruck, so no need to drive down.
it was close to the train station and close to the old town so as the name of the hotel says it’s very central. The staff are quite helpful when you ask for directions or for assistance in anything.
Very unique hotel, located in the center of the old town where everything is around you. Friendly and very welcoming reception team. Breakfast was amazing.
