Our cabin, Brushtail, was lovely and warm when we arrived, and also very quiet being the last in a row with plenty of bush between the cabins. It was clean and had plenty of room and everything needed for a longer stay. wish we had more than 2 nights. Location was great...a short walk to the Visitor Centre to catch the shuttle bus to the lake. we also walked down to the Devils@Cradle. There are no food options at Cradle Highlander, but all the facilities in your cabin to prepare a meal, or a short drive to one of the restaurants. Nice big bathroom

I like everything inside the cottage, but if more lights to be installed in the complex would be perfect as I noticed only one light is working. The solar lights didn’t work making the roads & paths very dark in night time.

If you love walking, hiking or mountains in general Cradle...
If you love walking, hiking or mountains in general Cradle Mountain is a blessing. Walks and circuits for every person, from the easy to the challenging one, from 20 minutes to 10 hours depending on your readiness, fitness, and training. Clean and well-maintained with spectacular views from the top, weather permitting :-). Keep in mind that you are in a mountain environment and the weather can change quickly and completely in a very short time. Good phone coverage on quite the whole area, and if you are into astrophotography its a Bortle 1 sky, cannot get better then that.

We loved our visit to Cradle Mountain.
We loved our visit to Cradle Mountain. Our first stop was the Devils @ Cradle sanctuary where we had an excellent tour guide who was very knowledgeable about the Tasmanian Devil and the Quolls at the sanctuary. We were able to see 5 Devils being fed. Though they looked cute, they had very sharp teeth and managed to tear through the meat and bones quickly. We then went on a bus trip to Dove Lake and were able to take some great photos. Would love to visit here again.

Love the walks at Cradle Mountain.
Love the walks at Cradle Mountain. We went to devils@cradel which was so interesting. Really recommend it but keep your hands out of the devil enclosures! Bring warm clothes - lots of layers is best. We were there end of Feb and it was cold at night and early morning. We had a wild wombat just amble by, eating as it went.

Shuttle buses run frequently to the shores of Dove Lake, making it a must-see mountain resort in Tasmania for easy day-hiking. It's also great to be able to see wombats up close around Ronny Creek. If you have a national park pass, you can buy a shuttle bus ticket valid for 72 hours for $15, so we recommend staying near the visitors centre for 3 to 4 nights.

A lot of walks have well maintained paths so most people can use them.
The scenery is fantastic but beware, be prepared, the weather can be very good one minute and cold and wet the next.
Pay for the shuttle bus, it makes life easier.

This is the place to stay when visiting Cradle Mountain National Park. Our room was of good size and the shared kitchen and bathroom s were reached by walking under a covered walkway. The kitchen was very large with plenty of equipment to prepare your own food. Two refrigerators were available for food storage. The gas heater in the kitchen was awesome on cold nights and mornings. The visitor center and shuttle bus to hiking trails was a 6 minute walk from the camp office.
We were placed in an end room, we had Padymelons and Echidnas walking past the glass doors. Plenty of space in the rooms, warm and cozy rooms, shower pressure was amazing. Close to cradle mountain and the ranger station. Very nice little walks around the Hotel and nature everywhere. Great buffet breakfasts and dinners and even the bar menu was great. Close and convenient to the Cradle Mountain Tavern if you needed change of scenery. Very friendly staff and happy to help.
Our room was very comfortable. The hotel feels pretty upmarket, and has a spa and different meal options available. We had the buffet breakfast & at night were happy with the food choices from the bar (oh, and the beer and mulled gin!). Log fires were warm and cosy. We enjoyed the bush views from the back deck over a quiet beer after a long day of hiking at Cradle Mountain (tourist info centre barely a kilometre down the road).
The location is great directly across the visitor centre, the setting is beautiful and secluded in the bush with good distance between cabins, the staff was friendly, there was good communication and check in and check out were easy. The cabin has everything you need. The gas heater works great. You might also be lucky enough to see the resident wombat and her baby.
Beautiful cabin set in the heart of Cradle Mountain, close to the visitor centre but far enough away from other cabins for privacy. Cabin equipped for basic cooking, and option to borrow DVDs for cosy evenings in.
Spa bath provided a good view of the wilderness, towels were new and v soft and bed was v comfy. Overall a great stay!
The staff and location are excellent, set in bushland, it gets a wide range of wombats and pademelons during dawn and dusk. The whole place with its fireplaces and guest lounges is very welcoming at the end of the day hiking around Cradle Mountain. The food was generally good along with the bar.
The room was very well decorated and there was a great view of the forest looking out from the Jacuzzi. The cabins had lots of privacy and we were not disturbed by any of the neighboring cabins. Location was very near to the cradle mountain visitor center for shuttle access to the national park.
Full kitchen with gas oven and cook top. Wood burning fireplace and heater makes for a very warm cabin. Electric blankets. Extensive DVD collection for rainy days. Cabins are private and comfortable. Located straight across the road from the information centre/ shuttle bus for cradle mountain.
We had an upgrade into the two bedroom deluxe cabins which are new. The underfloor heating was a lovely addition on the cold mornings. The cabin is fantastic and had all we needed, very comfortable. Easy to walk to the bus for Cradle Mountain and staff were super friendly and helpful.
Amazing location, right on the edge of the cradle mountain national park.
There a multiple walks that begin within the grounds of the lodge.
Staff were very friendly and the food at both the restaurant and bistro was great,
Location of the Discovery Park, is its greatest advantage. Its quiet, peaceful and walking distance to cradle mountain visitor centre. Getting in and out of the lodge is vey easy. Cabins are big enough to host a family.
A nice cozy & warm space with the luxury of a spa in the room. Private, quiet and lots of wildlife about. Also the hotel restaurant food & service was just phenomenal - a real treat before starting the Overland Track.
Close proximity to Cradle Mountain visitors centre and hiking trails. Loved the wild life around the cabins and waking up in the morning to a winter wonder land blanketed in snow
