We cannot fault anything about this beautiful lodge. It exceeded all our expectations. The room was spacious and had a great water view. We enjoyed watching the dawn breakout every morning. And the sounds of birds all around us.
The breakfasts were excellent. The restaurant was very good too. We had dinner there a couple of nights. We cannot say enough about the wait staff at breakfast and dinner. They were simply great; friendly, efficient, informative and all round fun to converse with. Special mention for "Yuki". The location was good too; nice walks close by and easy road access to Penneshaw & Kingscote. We highly recommend K.I. Lodge.

We thoroughly enjoyed the wild life around us , feeding the kangaroos nightly .. very peaceful and relaxing ..
however we feel there should’ve been tea/coffee sugar sachets and long life milk on arrival as there aren’t any shops close by .. so after long trip over really looking forward to a coffee .. also washing up liquid was only enough for 1 day .. toilet paper only 2 rolls ( not enough for our 7 day stay )
Went to cook on the bbq , no tongs or scraper . However we did ring owner and he was more then happy to bring us tongs ( but that’s not the point ) all these things are basics in a budget accommodation . stayed in plenty others ..
and the bed was very hard but that is too be expected in most cases . Hope these issues get resolved as the location is great .

Island Beach is gorgeous! Calm waters protected in a bay.
Island Beach is gorgeous! Calm waters protected in a bay. Close enough to Penneshaw for Supplies but not amongst the hustle of Kingscote. Boat ramp is easily accessible, lots of kangaroos and wallabies to see at dusk, family friendly.. Island Beach is a hidden Gem.

We loved the entire island, not just island beach.
We loved the entire island, not just island beach. (Although it’s perfect for families with young children - a very safe beach for toddlers)
The views are stunning, wherever you stop. Our favourite places were along the West and South coasts where there are rugged escarpments, wild seas and fabulous beaches, but the North and East are also beautiful with wide white sandy beaches and aquamarine seas. There is so much to see and do.
You do need to make sure of opening times at parks and other points of interest to help you plan your days, and be aware of the availability of food outlets (not on every corner as you may be used to!) internet service can be varied so keep your map handy and check out the local website for info before starting out.

Loved Island Beach would love to go back and experience it in summer with daylight savings. Being there in winter made eating out for dinner tricky as the native animals wanted to jump in front of the car at night
