Waterfront area is hyped as a great place to hang out but wasn't really much. The Altstadt is unremarkable. Walked down the main pedestrian street in the evening and felt that it was now just a place for people to ride scooters and hang out. Not very pleasant. Mullheim is mostly a commuters town.
Mullheim is mostly a commuters town. It does not offer much by itself. Our primary reason to stay here was to save money but it turned out it wasn't exactly cheap to say the least. You also need to realise that on Sundays almost everything is closed.

It's a quiet town so don't expect pumping night life. You can walk about safely and the locals are very friendly. There is a good mix of food options and services. A car is needed for easy connections to other parts of Germany.

The hotel is quite small and therefore cozy, combining tradition and luxury in furnishing and overall approach. One can notice a slight musty smell in the corridor reminding the age of the building, while the room is perfectly clean, light and fresh. Tasty breakfast in winter garden is a good start of the day. The hotel is near the city center however common city noise (cars and trams), neighbours' footsteps and showering are in acceptable level.

Everyday my room was cleaned and quickly sorted. I stayed to go to the Messe Essen everyday, so everything was there. 11/10, Will book again.
