V quirky, each room being themed and artistic. The owner is also the host and is an artist. She messaged us with directions before we arrived which was a nice touch. This is an ex very old farmstead saved from extinction by converting in to a sympathetic boutique hotel with great character. Our bed was comfy and large with big ensuite (the Indian room). The property is a few miles from Marbella so a car is essential. It’s in an up market residential area.

VIK Gran Hotel Costa del Sol is located right on La Cala de Mijas Beach. It features a shallow swimming pool, and rooms with balconies and lateral views of the sea.

There were quite a number of plus points about this hotel, including the excellent location within walking distance of the town centre, shops and restaurants. The airport is also within 30 minutes by car which is very convenient.
The outdoor pool and bar area was quite pleasant and led directly onto the lovely long promenade and beach, which was definitely the main attraction for me.
My initial room (more on this in the next section) was a good size with a balcony and amazing views of the beach and sea. As expected for a premium room, a bathrobe and slippers were provided, as well as a surprisingly empty fridge! A bottle of water at least would have been nice, but I suppose I should be grateful I had access to a fridge.
The on-site restaurant offered a buffet with a variety of tasty choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which was a pleasant surprise and convenient. I did not include meals with my room and liked the flexibility of paying for a meal.
Overall, the deco and layout of the hotel was pleasant enough, with a wide and airy lobby and 3 quite slow lifts!
The terrace bar on the 1st floor was a plus as there was some traditional live music and some snacks/hot food available after the restaurant closed at night.
With easy access to the AP7 Motorway, this hotel is located 5 minutes’ drive from Marbella’s Elviria Beach.

We loved this hotel the staff was friendly especially the gentleman behind the bar. We also loved the entertainment on our last night from the 3 performers who did the Bruno mars night. The room was nice small balcony, clean room, spacious bathroom. Beach was easy to walk too and public transport was easy to get into the old town which is lovely.
