Amazing experience.
The building, garden and pool are adorable. The hospitality is above and beyond but in a very easy going and friendly manner.
There is no restaurant but they serve dinner options in unique reserved jars from the local area. It was surprisingly tasty and high level. Probably what you get if you mix TV dinner with an elite French cuisine.
Do not miss it!
We came by bike on the La loire a velo and it was very convenient to store the bike.

This was by far and away the best place we stayed on our Loire cycling trip. Such a beautiful building, our room was stunning with enormously high ceilings. Location amazing, right by the river. Ate there, was lovely. Great food and so atmospheric. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Lovely location: just by the castle and shops...
We liked the house: the lounge is beautiful... the bathroom is retro; however, could do with a little refresh. The WiFi is excellent, car park at the ned of the street free, beds super comfy...
All in all, a great place to stay! Merci!
Beaugency is a convenient stopover for us. It is a lovely old village with many bars and restauants but with modern conveniences (supermarkets etc) nearby, and not too far from the motorway network.

Beaugency is a typical Loire-side town and ancient bridging point. Well served by the primary routes along the valley the outskirts are those of a modern, bustling market town with all the facilities one would expect. The heart of the old town is found on the northern end of the graceful bridge and is centred on the masive defensive feudal keep. No elegant rennaissance palace, this. A stamp of lordly power from the 12th. & 13th. centuries the castle has echos of Joan of Ark and The Hundred Years War, right down to the present with a major surrender of German forces at the end of the last war. In the old town there are fine buildings and narrow alleys, a charming square with cafes, the excellent coaching inn (L'Ecu de Bretagne), and the remains of the seigneural domaine around the keep. Walks along the river are a little difficult to navigate as the old main road runs along the bank and is very busy. All-in-all, a lovely town for a long stay to explore the Chateaux, the wines and the history of the Loire

Beaugency is a pretty little town and although we have only ever used it as a stop off on our way down south I’m sure you could happily spend a few days here wandering round the old town, visiting the chateau, walking by the river and eating out in the wide range of restaurants.

This is our second overnight stop in Beaugency, so you can tell that we liked it ! There is a good variety of bars and restaurants . There are plenty of shops and supermarkets.
There is also a hypermarket on the edge of town for fuel etc.
Beaugency is a very pleasant place with beautiful buildings.
Beautiful location. Spectacular property with middle age character and charm and amazing views of the Loire. The staff was fantastic, especially Bienvenue, whose smiley and happy disposition is as welcoming as his name. The breakfast is amazing and to have it overlooking the Loire is something unforgettable. Unfortunately the restaurant has been closed for a while for lack of a chef, but we had an amazing dinner at a restaurant within 5 minutes walk from the hotel, called Le P’tit Bateau, run by the Chef and owner and his wife.
L'Ecu de Bretagne is a proper French country town hotel. Clean and very comfortable rooms of exceptional size and ancient constuction (HUGE beams!) with good bathrooms with loads of hot water. Right in the middle of this very pretty Loire-side town all the usual facilities are to hand. The restaurant was closed, Monday night, y'know. The hotel has it's own private parking in what was probably the coach yard. We enjoyed a better than average French breakfast. What more could you want?
The neighborhood is beautifiul and close to the "tourist district" -- although the village of Beaugency has such a lovely gentle feel that it didn't feel touristy. The garden area on the property where we could sit and enjoy the flowers and the view was so charming and beautiful. The hosts spoke enough English that we were completely fine without speaking French. Very accommodating. We traveled with bikes which they stored for us in a locked room. It was quiet and serene.
This hotel has a cozy atmosphere, well located for visiting castles, and service was amazing. Cocktails and breakfast were worth the price.
Their family room is great value. It’s a real 2 bedroom suite with a shared bathroom. This means that you get to keep your privacy but there is only one exit to the hallway. Your kids don’t have to go out to a public space to get to your room if they get scared at night.
Kid friendly pool also a plus!
Quietly located on a small side street near the Loire river with free parking just 2 minutes walk away. A period property with wood panelling and large airy rooms (great for in a heat wave). Homely furnishings but quite comfortable. Modern kitchen.
For non-tech people, some instructions for the wifi and the large screen TV would be good!
Beaugency is a delight, only a 15 minute diversion from our route down the A71/A20.
We arrived very jet-lagged after a long trip from Australia and were warmly received by Helene, the owner. This has to be one of our favourite boutique hotels which we have stopped over many times. The meals here are always special and creative with Helene’s husband and chef obtaining the freshest produce. We always feel we have 'arrived' when we stay here.
Excellent location in the town of Beaugency, no parking directly outside, had to search around for a space about 50 metres away. Met by Isobel with the key who was very helpful, lovely quiet coutyard area that you can relax in.
Would also reccommend the restaurant on the corner about 25 metres from the property, had a good meal thare at a reasonable price
The staff were excellent, especially the gentleman on reception in the later evening of our arrival. He made room for us to park by movinh6his personal vehicle. Beautifully kept old building with many interesting features. Really complete breakfast buffet. Sadly too late for dinner, but found an excellent little restaurant near the hotel.
This was our most favorite accommodation in our travels through Europe! The owners and their son were wonderfully welcoming and helpful, the hotel and its grounds were absolutely beautiful, perfect for a day of relaxation. Breakfast and dinner were delicious, served on the charming patio. Thank you for a most memorable experience.
A marvelous, atmospheric, unique place with spectacular views. Well positioned in Beaugency with an easy access by car as well as bike. The breakfast is rich and has an wide offer of local produce, incl. cheese, honey and pastry. The hallway and the drawing rooms are nicely decorated. The staff is very helpful and friendly!
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom seem to have been recently refurbished, so it feels fresh. The garden is lovely and being in the ground-floor, there is no need to carry luggage upstairs.
Beaugency is a quiet break in the Loire, with several restaurants and plenty of choice.
Located in the middle of the old town everything was easy to walk to. There are plenty of restaurants and the Loire is so beautiful. The hotel courtyard has plenty of parking so we could just drop the car. The staff was very friendly, we'd certainly stay here again next visit.
A lovely garden where one can enjoy a drink or just chat or read a book. Our dog was made to feel welcome too, and the hotel is just beside the Grand Mail, which is handy for dog walking (with the appropriate toutou sac, of course!).
This is a lovely historic house which is spacious and comfortable, situated on a quiet road in the centre of the medieval town of Beaugency. Plenty of restaurants. The baker nearby sells croissants straight from the oven!
The owner was extremely helpful and on the day of our departure gave us facilities to watch the Queen’s funeral which we would otherwise have missed. Altogether an excellent stay. We would recommend this hotel.
